SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Yeah, that totally explains why there is always someone on Twitter asking about him and there are like, three petitions online for him to be in MKX. No one knows who he is at all. :bird:

What percentage of the MK fandom do you think has played Special Forces? Be reminded that what you see on a forum is a miniscule fraction of a fandom as a whole.

That was a bad example on my part.
Should have asked what percentage of MK fans post on a forum.

Well that's a lot of boring statistics, but still you've got to admit Tremor is pretty popular for a non-canon character.

People loves ninjas and people loves the idea of an earth bender.

This board is funny. I've never seen such a split between people who like/want Tremor and those who don't anywhere else. I was under the impression that it was all but 100% clear that fans wanted him to be in a game, considering how everywhere else, people are begging for him to be on a main game's roster and the fact that they put him in the Vita version. Hell, even people on Instagram are campaigning for him. I think people who don't know Tremor are probably in the minority by now.

Minority in what capacity? Among hardcore fans, Tremor is pretty well known. But as a whole, he's even more obscure than Hornbuckle.

I'd definitely say more fans, as a whole, know who he is. Casual players are NOT fans. They are people who casually pick up the sticks and play with their buddies every now and then. Fans are people who know the lore and can tell you more characters than "the guy who does freeze balls" or "that one guy that says GET OVER HERE!" I think you have the two confused. If you're a fan of Mortal Kombat, you know the games and most likely look stuff up on YouTube. Chances are, you've probably run across a mugen video that had Tremor in it since a lot of versions do feature him. Also, if you're looking up Mortal Kombat games, you'll run across the ones that weren't featured in the main storyline arc, including Shaolin Monks, Mythologies, and Special Forces. Just because you dislike a character, that does not mean he is not well known. Again, the guy was in the Vita version of the last game...be serious.

Wtf? You can be a casual fan of something lol. I'm a fan of Street Fighter, but I don't know any character's back story.

and the fact that they put him (Tremor) in the Vita version.

When I read this my mind blown... I was like "the bloody fvck man?"

So I went to youtube, I was not aware of Tremor being a playable character in MK9 Vita's tower. Wow... he just borrowed a bunch of other chars moves but I cannot believe NRS actually remembered Tremor... It's awesome.

I already posted this on the last page and it got buried. I beat Deception's conquest mode, I beat Armageddon's conquest mode, I've watched the MK films, I watched MK Legacy. Am I still a casual fan? Because I've never heard of Tremor in my life before coming to this forum.

I think that you are seriously overestimating how well known Tremor is. That doesn't make him a bad character, it doesn't make him a character who doesn't deserve to get salvaged, it just makes him incredibly obscure outside of a vocal online community.

I also think "casual fans" are not fans in the strict sense.

They are probably fans of the games, not of the story and the franchise at all.

That's just my opinion, it's a complicated matter.

But I always think of music. If someone wears a shirt with Led Zeppelin on it, and you ask more about, and the person only knows "Stairway to Heaven", this person is NOT a fan, just an admirer of the song.

A fan, IMO, does not need to know every single atom of what he/she likes (though it's very common, look at this Forum), but at the least knows and loves the whole ambient of the franchise, the lore, it's characters, you know....

And Tremor is like a song of a band. If you are a "casual fan", there's a good probability you won't know. Even if you are a "hardcore fan", maybe you won't know at all, maybe it's that song on that special album only released in a country that you missed.

It's normal. Tremor is not the subject that will define who is fan and who is not.

NRS will decide if they want to make Tremor relevant or not, not the miniscule amount of fan demand or the legions of casuals who don't know of his existence.

There's various kinds of fans.
- There's the casual ones who knows of the product and enjoys it.
- Then there's the more dedicated ones, like us on the forum who meet up to share info and daily talk about it.
- Then there's the collectors who like to get alot of stuff from the game, such as figurines, comics, artbooks etc.
- Then there's the hardcore gamers who are on tournament level with at least one character, someone who knows all the tech etc.
- And then there's the more fanatic ones who are very elitist, feeling they are above all others because they know everything about the game, has all the things, have been a fan since the start of the series, or whatever given excuse they give to tell people how much a better fan they are.

A fan can be multiple of these things too. But they are all fans.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If NRS even bothered including a character like Skarlet in MK2011 (really, how many of us had heard about Skarlet before?), I don't think it's that improbable they include Tremor. If my memory serves, I do believe Tremor was in Mortal Kombat Trilogy manual somehow, I remember him being referred there back in the 90's.

To be honest this just bothers me a little. I still remember some people ing around with their DERP faces about Rain not being in MK2011 because FOR THEM he was shitty character, a joke blablablablabla and yet he turned out to be AWESOME as DLC. It was really a huge middle finger for them. People confuse a good original character =/= character that they like/don't like.

So I'm all for Tremor ;)
