Theincubuslord said it best, say the dedicated to fanatics are 1 million strong and will buy every game without a doubt. The casual fans like the game so they will buy to, they could be 2 million strong. (I'm using these numbers to be simple the fanbase is a lot bigger.) I hate to compare MK to COD, but you have your hardcore fans in those games, but a big makeup of sales is from the casual gamer. He/She wants to play a war/shooter game and they buy COD, cause its the big thing at the moment. Hype grabs the causal game and they help make the big sales developers want.

I find it hilarious how people just assume that the people who want Tremor in MKX just want the shitty SF Tremor copy and pasted onto an MK game.

I can't speak for everyone else, but at least when I speak of wanting Tremor, I'm thinking of wanting a character that has Earth-based powers and abilities.
I've said plenty of times that I don't even want him to look like a "ninja," but rather as more of a nomad / wanderer.

This 1 billion times!

I think Tremor as a nomad, Arab-influenced character, would fit him like a glove and totally MKX-ish. I mean, just look at Ermac and Reptile (primary costume in the select screen). They clearly don't want to do the "ninja" pallette swap look at all.

EXACTLY! (I can't give you "Thanks" at the moment.)
Reptile and Ermac are 2 excellent examples in MKX, as Ermac looks very different without a mask and a hood / cloak, and Reptile looks like his name-sake; a Reptile.
Tremor being in doesn't have to = "ninja."
 
I can relate to this casual fan discussion. Because i usually hate casual fans who for example support real Madrid but only know cristiano ronaldo and have no idea about the other team members

I can't really stand casual fans of fighting games. Other genres .. sure. But seeing people post about MK that aren't that interested in the lore and aren't gonna play it but for a couple hours is kinda grating. I've seen people on my friends list on FB or Instagram that I know are just going to buy it, see a fatality or two, then sell it for a couple bucks back to gamestop. It's their money.. But still. Why bother acting like your excited for this game if you're not really going to dig into it? The whole thing I had fun with mk9 was learning the mechanics and stringing combos together. Learning what worked and what didn't. Why blow 60 bucks on the game if you're only going to play it for like 2 hours play online get wrekt then leave? It was the same thing with KI. People were nostalgia jizzing all over that. I don't see any of my friends talking about it anymore. I know the community is still there supporting it... But why casuals bother to work themselves into a froth over fighting games to only play them for a couple hours tops, I'll never know.
 
It's the marketing strategy to boost week 1 sales. Get as many casuals you can to buy the game day 1 and WB grants you a bigger budget next time.

Agreed. Don't get me wrong.. Sales-wise, I'm glad the casuals are around and buying the game. They annoy me. But we need em'. I just do not understand why they spend so much and then get so little out of the game.
 
Back to the topic tho, do you think many casuals are picking up the comics?

From what I heard, the Injustice comics had a HUGE amount of success with new comic readers.
 
Tremor's outfit could be something like this, with a whole beduin assassin thing going on.

Not as many, IMO, as compared to Injustice.

MK and DC comic book characters are 2 different things, though.
DC comic characters have appealed to a wider audience and have been around for a much longer time than the MK franchise has, since 1938 & 1939 (Superman & Batman).
DC comics characters have been passed down from generation to generation, over decades.
Anyone who isn't living under a rock knows who Batman, Superman, The Joker, Lex Luther, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and 99% of the Injustice roster is.
Whereas most people who aren't huge MK fans or barely even casuals, at most, know who the "yellow ninja, blue ninja, lightning guy and the Bruce Lee guy" are.

Which is a perfect reason he should be in MKX. To 90% of players he'll be a new character. And this game is, or is supposed to be, about new. So...

And I don't want Tremor to be a ninja. I want him to be a mystical nomad with earthbending powers who has his own goals.

I support Tremor being in, whether ninja or not. Regardless of whether or not BBBLP's ass wants to admit it, people have been hitting up Ed Boon for Tremor's inclusion in a game for far longer than any of those subpar post-MK3 characters some posters on this board foam at the mouth for.
