Even still, those still smell like lazy cop-outs, and would weaken / cheapen the MK9 story, and it makes Vogel look like he can't come up with something more original than rehashing old stories.
 
I seen people wondering if Jax has a daughter then where was she in the original timeline? We know why Cassie does not exist in the timeline. If the MKX comic takes place 15 years after MK9 then that can explain why since there's no Armageddon. No Armageddon means that no one dies 10 years after MK1-3.

No Armageddon like in the past! Notice that new enemies are arising, new kombatants and new threats. Armageddon should take place later, maybe in a time we will never see, but it's inevitable.

Im wondering if the writer of this comic was even paying attention to the timeline in MKX. How old would you say Cassie Cage is in the latest issue. Jaqui says "Cassie, this is a 21 and older club" and she gets them in anyways so I would assume Cassie is probably between 18-20 years old. Then you have to take into consideration the how long after MK9 was Cassie born. Did Sonya and Johnny hook up immediately after MK9 ended? We know how long it takes for a baby to be born so I would say add another year on after that. So does this issue take place 20 years or so after MK9?
 
This whole Cassie and Jacqui thing makes me think of another pair of blonde, white girl and a black girl friendship in another fighting game...

No, the writer's said this is around the 15 year mark. Cassie only got herself and Jacqui in because she's a movie star's daughter.
 
I've noticed there's a misunderstanding here. I'm pretty sure Jaqui called Jax her uncle not her dad. Which would explain why she's not way younger than Cassie. I believe in chapter 4 she mentions her Uncle Jax. I could be wrong, but I could've swore that's what she called him.

We kind of know from their game quotes that D'vora and Ferra Torr are rivals.
Does that mean that Ferra and Torr work for Mileena?
 
So if Kotal Kahn is the "Disputed Emperor" and he has been fighting with Mileena for a DECADE (10 yrs). Does that mean Mileena is Empress of Outworld..."Disputed Empress" of course?

Also, Say Mileena is the Empress of Outworld. Is her name now Mileena Kahn, since Kahn is a Title? Is so, thats kinda dumb LMAO! Empress Mileena will do just fine!

Jacqui never refers to Jax as her uncle. It's Cassie who calls him "Uncle Jax", and Jacqui talks about her dad a couple of times.

They're seen hanging out with Kotal in Raiden's vision from Chapter 3, so I doubt it. The intro dialogue doesn't give the vibe of them being rivals at all, D'Vorah just says that Ferra offends her. Heck, what we've seen of Kotal's dialogue with the pair indicates further that they work for him.

Kotal Kahn may be holding the palace and the army, Mileena must be menacing his throne, what would make him disputed Emperor.

Also, Goro may be menacing him, claiming himself Emperor (who knows).

There may be a lot of people who does not recognize him as Emperor.

Anyway, she would be Empress Mileena. The Emperor would be REIKO KAHN ;)
