SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Yeah I agree that a proper MK animated series would be nice. I think we need a R rated MK animated series and not a awful Saturday morning cartoon series. Defenders of the Realm can be view as "it's so bad that it's good" if you don't take seriously but I do wish Threshold Entertainment waited a few years before making the show since the Spawn HBO series a year later prove that you can do Adult animation seriously.

I think Threshold did the Saturday morning cartoon thing because the same thing happened with Street Fighter (which, like DotR, followed the storyline of its film adaptation) and I believe Darkstalkers, if my memory serves correctly, at roughly the same time, and Threshold's thinking was probably "strike while the iron's hot". Obviously, the fact that all of those Saturday morning cartoon adaptations were cancelled at around the same time proves that this whole experiment was a bust.

Defenders of the Realm was most likely made because the popularity of the movie since Mortal Kombat was one of the most popular films during the summer of 1995. The first MK movie was PG-13 and had a big merchandise line for the film. Threshold knew that kids saw the movie and played the games at the Arcades despite being a franchise made for adults. I think a R rated MK series can work these days since we have Toonami on Adult Swim. MK and Toonami are both own by Time Warner. Toonami can have American animated shows as long if they are action base shows. HBO would be cool but I remember Ed Boon saying that a MK show on HBO would be very pricey.

I love animated series and prefer them, but I'm in love with the design used on the comics.

They didn't just draw a character, a random ninja and the color.

No, they detailed everything. Even on Hanzo's family being killed they didn't put a different Sub-Zero (even the game did that), but they picked up a revisited version of MKM:SZ, look at the mask and to John Tobias sketches.

If they do an animated series with the quality of this comic (usually it's not, because it's harder), lol, I'll go crazy.

I think it really does show Scorpion's growth. He went into a rage when Quan Chi played that trick in MK2011. I really hope this Scorpion carries into the game.

I does look like NRS listened to some of the criticism of the over design of the MK9 roster. MKX Scorpion looks so much better than MK9 Scorpion.

EDIT: Fixed my wording on the second paragraph.

Over designed!?!

I actually liked everyone's design ...my only complaint was that they didn't add more outfits

I liked Bi-Han's MK9 Sub-Zero costume. :proud:
I agree on Scorpion's MK9 costume, though. It felt too flashy, where as his MKX version looks 1,000X better.
Reptile's MK9 costume I didn't mind too much, but I did think that his beaked bird mask could have been improved on a bit.

Preview for the first print issue of the series. It features two new pages from Chapter 3.

I hope it's just Scorpion trying to control the wraith and not some demon that possessed him, as well.

This demon that possesses people sounds too similar to the lame ass MKvsDC rage monster; Dark Kahn.

Guys, i got a question for those who are reading the Comics.
Is/was there any hint at Reptile or Cyrax? First i thought Reptile
would be 100% in from the start, but im not to confident anymore.
As for Cyrax... :???:

Nothing in the comics about them so far. But I'm sure many playable characters won't show up in the comics.

Do you mean not many of the playable characters? Because I'm pretty sure most will be appearing throughout it; from the way Kittelsen's talked, the only characters in the game that won't be in the comic are those dead or in hiding at the time it's set.

Not a damn thing. I wouldn't get your hopes up. Though I would say that at least one gets in. But that's nothing more than my own guess.

Could have sworn that either Kittlesen or Boon (or both) had mentioned that just because they are in the comics doesn't mean that they are in the game, and vice versa.

As for Cryax or Reptile, I'm guessing that since Reptile has had more appearances in games, that his chances are better than Cyrax.
Again, though, that's just MY opinion.
Given Kung Lao though, for all we know, maybe NRS is mainly catering to the "Top MK9 Tourney character users" in MKX, and we get Cyrax, Mileena and Kabal.

I know, that's what I was saying. Kittelsen explained why some game characters wouldn't be in the comic, but it sounded like it wouldn't be a really large group.
