True. I'm still holding out a sliver of hope that Reiko gets it (and is playable.)
Oh how I hope Goro isn't disappointing like he was in MK9.

Edit: I could see the game over lapping a bit with some of the stuff we saw. We still don't know how important somethings will be in the game that have appeared in the comics. I could see maybe getting a few quick snips of flashbacks of Shirai Ryu getting killed again, or Subbie freezing a city.

They're doing flashbacks, but they're not going to jump all over the timeline like the game will be. 15 years is where most of the comic will take place, Kittelsen's talked about "planting a flag" there. Kittelsen also said this in another interview:

It really, really doesn't sound like we're going to be seeing any exact scenes from the game in the comic. The rise and fall of Kotal Kahn is one of the plots of the game; the comic will be doing stuff in the middle of that, but it's not going to be the thing that shows it in its entirety.

As in flashbacks are still possible for the MKX comics, thus my point still stands that a flashback for Kotal's "rise" is still possible.
Whether that means before or after the game comes out is a different story, but it still doesn't rule it out entirely from the comics.

Relative to the game, there are 25 years between MK9 and MKX, and most of our comics take place several years in, with some flashbacks here and there.

But, like, what would be the point? There would be none, because the scene would already be in the game. It's been made pretty clear that the comic isn't just going to repeat what the game does, and there being flashbacks doesn't change Kittelsen saying there won't be any overlapping scenes. I don't think he wants to use the flashbacks to show stories that you can already see in the game, and I'm not sure why you're arguing so adamantly about this; does it really matter that the full story of Kotal's rise won't be in the comic?
 
Showing Kotal's rise in the comics after it was already shown in the game would be redundant. Keep in mind that this is a tie-in comic; it's meant to fill in gaps and tell side stories. I doubt it will share a single scene with the game and vice-versa, at least not before the game's release (because spoilers).
 
DUring the Netherrealm War, they may show in the game Kotal as an advisor, and telling Mileena to do the right shit and she ignoring.

Then he may overthrow her.

That description seen on the comic, about Shinnok's invasion, resurrection of the "lucky ones", Kotal's rise to power and Civil War may be the game.
 
My predictions:

Sub-Zero will kill Sektor in the comic, so they can leave him out of the game.

Sonya Bland will kill Erron Black, Mileena, Rain, Reiko and all interesting characters in the game so they don't have to be in X, they want to show off Sonya's power like they did with D'vorah, so Sonya will be the one that shoots them all down without asking questions, the small cameo of Tanya and Skarlet will be this:

Sonya comes into outworld sees a sneaky lady sneaking about and kills her with a perfect shot in the neck, then she sees blood on the ground and she burns it without doub,t killing Skarlet who was just sleeping.

Then she sees a boring looking asian woman, she decides to let Li Mei live because boring characters should be in MKX.

Mileena, Rain, Reiko and the Red Dragon are no match for Sonya's gun, and a mother in heat is more dangerous than any monster out there.

Sonya will be in 12 chapters in the storymode and everything is about her because she is so damn cool it hurts.

Sonya gains necromantic powers and ressurect MK's most boring character ever (Jax) and together they will be the heroes of Boring Forces, to save Cassie however she must shoot Jacqui and Erron Black, and so she does that without any doubt, because Sonya is cool chick.

Jeez. You really hate Sonya. I don't understand why you hate all of the humans tho? When I play skyrim or something I prefer to be a human race, as do most people. (At least I think, thought I seen a article about it once)

I think you need to see a therapist about your pathetic little obsession with Sonya (a fictional character, may I remind you) and your perpetual obligation to bring her up in every single thread, despite the thread having nothing to do with Sonya. If you loathe her so much I suggest you stop bringing her up or talking about her, because evidently it has turned into a pitiful fixation.

I'm just sick and tired of most of the Mortal Kombat 1 characters getting in every single game, gaining more and more fans, while the MK4 + Havik characters are left out of most games so they never gain interesting stuff and fans so they can grow too.

I just got a vision of Reiko, and he will shine in the comic, but will die later on so he doesn't appear in the game. Mileena will be in the game, but Rain and the others that follow her will be long dead, Mileena is a wild card in the game, as the games story will suck again with the 4-matches each character, chapter system will bring the game down.

And yes I hate sonya, because she + her daughter is overkill and personally destroys the entire rooster (NOT THE GAME) for me. Her face on the rooster is even more horrible than Bo Rai Cow and Li Mei on it together.
 
Why do people love Havik that much?

He looks awesome, ok I'll give him that, but as a character he's rubbish and his moveset is beyond lameness, if that's even a word.

I agree, he looks cool but yea his moves look stupid, But an MKX havik can be pretty cool with a better move set
 
I don't think it's far-fetched that we'll be seeing atleast one repeating scene in MKX that was in the comics. They did it with injustice when Metropolis was destroyed and Sups fatalitized the Joker.

lol I dunno why you're arguing this, bud. It's quite obvious they're not going to cover it. The next issue is simply going to be Kotal using blood magic, and at that point he's already emperor. I'm sure his rise will be covered in the game. Not everything can be in the comic before the release of the game
