Skarlet vignette + DLC characters confirmed!

hey it just hit me.. the video says that we'll get those in the summer.. getting Skarlet now would make me think Kenshi comes out at the end of July and Rain at the end of August but.. we also have the ??? character and the video says those will be released in the summer. if they keep up this rate, they will release ??? at september's end which is definitely not summer so.. maybe a guest kind of character? when asked for guests , boon said he's not allowed for some cool stuff they got in line (gametrailers interview). or maybe a free character? what do you guys think?
 
I'm going to guess the unknown character is either Fujin or Cyber Smoke. I know some people are also guessing Shinnok, but it lacks his signature popehat. Cyber Smoke and Fujin are easier to silhouette and make them seem unidentifiable since Fujin's braided ponytail can be hidden as can those braids/wires/whatever they are on Cyber Smoke. But what also makes me think it's either of the two is that Cyber Smoke has been requested, much like Rain and Shinnok, and Fujin's name was found in the game's data.

Or it could be Hornbuckle. Considering MK has been making glitch/background characters canon over the years it wouldn't surprise me.
 
Well, tarnish my beltbuckle.... the characters will be $4.99 (400 points) each. I am very surprised. And pleasantly so. I still have no intention of supporting DLC for this game, but they are slowly earning my respect again between this and the free skins with each compatibiltiy pack.

If they'd just make the Klassics free, as they should be, I'd have nothing to complain about (online works fine for me). And I'd support their DLC.

If this is true (the part about the 4th DLC character being released this summer), then I hope we will be hearing about Kenshi sooner. We still know next to nothing about him except that he is coming (presumably the end of July), his fatalities are supposed to be "nastiness" according to one of Ed Boon's tweets, what he looks like (which was from the GamePro article, not NRS), and that he plays completely different with more emphasis placed on him being a swordsman (which was from Tom Brady).

I really do hope to see Hornbuckle as DLC. He's the only other well-known rumored/background character from the original trilogy that hasn't been made into an official character yet (Ermac, Blaze and Skarlet have already become official characters).

$4.99 is still a bit much, IMO. I guess I'm used to other games where characters are usually about $2.99 at most.

With all the announced DLC, you're looking at $25 + tax. Add in the $70 + tax that the game actualy cost and its getting a bit ridiculous that we have to spend well over $100 for just the game. It's no wonder I won't buy the fight stick to go along with the game.

I was thinking the gap between releases may be two or three weeks. The klassic skins pack and Skarlet are two weeks apart (I'm biting my lip about the EU PS Store debacle). If the gap for the rest of the DLC is two weeks, that means it could be Kenshi on 5 July, Rain on 19 July, and the 4th DLC character on 2 August. Three weeks would push the 4th character to 23 August.

Still, the gap could be four weeks apart, and it wouldn't be bad. The 4th character would be pushed to 13 September. The fact that it wouldn't be summer anymore isn't important. "New Kombatants Coming This Summer" is just a trailer caption, after all. It's that concise for good reason - it only appears for 3 seconds.
 
Robo smoke makes 100% no sense to me. I guess a "what if" character. But the reason mk3 ultimate had both human and robo smoke was because the timeline had smoke as human then becoming a robot. Much like subzero now.

Since that doesn't happen, it seems like they are giving everyone a role in the story. and how would robo smoke fit...? Can't even give him a biography unless you talk super in the past which could get confusing.

I just don't see robot smoke as a brand new character.

UNLESS... you know the story mode of mk9. He gets revived after you know what happens to him and is turned into one... but that would be lame lol...

Seems like you're exaggerating a bit. I dunno the tax where you live, but I'm in Illinois and my game cost me less than $70 including tax. Is there tax on PSN purchases? Cuz I'm pretty sure MS points aren't taxed...

Mind you UMK3 also had Classic Sub-Zero and Bi-Han was Noob in the story.
 
We will be getting a few more videos before officially moving on to Kenshi.

Anyone wonder what the last Skarlet could be? They've already released a vignette and a gameplay exhibition trailer. Also, what is the last trailer for? Maybe for the klassic MK3 outfits for the cyborgs and/or compatibility packs? Maybe it isn't even related to DLC?

Bleh having classic subzero in that game at that time still makes more sense than having robo smoke now.

But I guess you agree with the rest of my post because you didn't elaborate other than that.

For the most part, yup. I think Cyber-Smoke would be a cool "what-if" character, but would not work as anything else. If NRS does want all their DLC characters to have some relationship to the story then I'd be more than happy to have Cyber-Smoke get passed up. I'm really digging the increased attention on the story. I can't imagine they won't do a great job on the characters as fighters, but any effort they put into them as real characters is a nice bonus compared to other games in the genre.

i hope one of the guest characters is IGNs Gregg Millar, my god how id love to give him a spine rip, i would pay money to kill him in hideous ways

I hadn't thought of that, lol. I'd always just assumed they'd all be available from the start since we pay for the character. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
 
i know is not skarlet related, but its kinda old and i didnt deem it necesary to make a new thread for it, its when boon talks about dlc stages and stuff :D
it just made me happy to see it, have not seen it before, so for those that didnt see it like me, here it is :)
