Should Shinnok be given a part in the story ?

I really like Shinnok . Amongest all the MK's villians , I always thought that Shinnok is just the most underrated in the series .He is always one of those characters that have a chance to develope a very deep backstory that can be linked with the current timeline in the games .Since MK4 , I really wanted to see a game focusing on him again and MKA tried that in a very wrong way . Sometimes through MKA's Konquest mode and MKA's characters' bios , I really though that the game was originally planned to be Shinnok's major return .It was as if MKA's Konquest had two story concepts , Armageddon itself and Shinnok's return , and that what disappointed me it didn't give both sides enough justice .

With the coming game focusing on MK1-3 , I know Shinnok doesn't have place in it as a playable character , but I would love to see him making at least a cameo in the story mode itself . I am not saying that MK4's events should follow this game through MK10 , but how about giving him something in the story mode ?

I'd love to see more Shinnok. Shinnok is just as amazing an MK boss as any of them. His mini-story in MKA was the only interesting or well thought out bit of the bunch in that game's story mode.

I've always said MKM had the best story and plot of any MK game (mostly thanks to Tobias I say). Quan Chi and Shinnok were at their best in that game and I want to see that atmosphere return. And there's no better time than now when the atmosphere is so much darker than the previous MK installments.

I agree that MKM is Tobias best story . It was dark and atmospheric and added a lot of depth to Elder -0's story . From Vogel's side , it is MKD .

Yeah , I believe that MKA's strongest point of the story was Shinnok's . But I really think that MKA had a great story on concept ruined by the fact that dead characters are back in unexplained way and the presence of 60+ characters .

Anyway , I would love to see Shinnok doing what he does best in MK9-10 story .

I'd love to see Shinnok back, so long as he doesn't look like something out of Avatar. He looked grim as shit in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation; why can't he look that way in the games?

I love Shinnok to, but if they make an exception for him, they'll have to make exceptions for more characters. Although a good way to lead from this is to have this be a plan of Shinnok from the beginning and that would lead perfect into a remake of MK4 if they go that route.

for the first half or so of the story i wouldnt want shinnok to have a big part. just because of the mk1-3 thing. but toward the end of the story mode it should definetly put shinnok in there to like point things in the direction of mk4. (or should i say mk10) im hoping thats what they do with this mk and the next mk.

Very true. I hope he's not an initial character since this is supposed to be framed around the first 3 games. As far as the story is concerned, he could be since he was involved in the behind the scenes stuff, but I'm a purist, so I'd rather him not.

damn that!shinnok and quan chi should be put in,it wouldnt take no thought 2 write them in and whoever else that is popular from 4 on up,u gotta remember the story so far is 4 raiden 2 warn a younger version of himself,so whos 2 say if it even goes the way of 4,if the story arc is suppose 2 change y not put in the more popular characters and kill off the lame or weaker ones, thats what i would do if im rebooting my beloved fighting game

No, absolutely not. No one from 4 and on should even get a thought at being in the game. There's plenty of time for that, and if you start throwing in random characters your roster will get too big from this point on and we'll just have another copy of Armageddon.

This is true . The team should really stop doing that .They shoud focus what makes the character fits the game and the story in it . MKA would have been by far the better game if they threw all the random characters out and focused on the ones that had something to do with its story and presentation .

That should apply even on the DLC ones . They shouldn't be the randomly selected , based on their popularity, but rather on how they would fit the story of this game . This is a rebbot and a reboot should always avoid the mistakes done in its former vision .

I would think Shinnok and Quan Chi are quite possible for DLC, setting up the story for MK10 (MKX?). Oooh and please bring Fujin too! :o

Shinnok needs to be the big bad of MK10. Shao Kahn's been it for so many lately. MKSM, MKvDC, MKA (though everyone was kind of a bad guy in that one). Shinnok is due for his time in the spotlight again. He's so sinister (in his robed look anyway).

Good God, HELL NO!
I think Shinnok has never been a 'fearable' villian. He kinda looks campy to me.
Maybe if he becomes a little bit grimmier... but... no, who am I kidding, I DONT WANT SHINNOK IN MK9. MK 1 TO 3 GUYS ONLY.

Clearly you've never played MKM. He was hella campy in MK4; I hate him in MK4; I just plain hate MK4. His bright colors and stupid "I'm getting revenge" motivation was terrible. He was so much more menacing in MKM because he was frail! He was just a pitiful old man, trapped for centuries and nearly drained of power. Then he gets his amulet and BOOM that there's a threat.

Gods I miss the storytelling from Pre-MK4...ever since Tobias left the series has lost it's mystery. I'm hoping MK9 is a return to form in more than just gameplay.

I was a huge fan of the Shinnok story back before MK4 actually came out. I thought his plot seemed promising in MKM:Subzero, I like the little comic that came with the pre-order explaining the brotherhood this fallen god was trying to create with the aid of Noob Saibot, etc. But then it seemed Shinnok was left only partially developed ever since. All that could now be fixed by having him in the game, or at least mention of him with a more thorough story. Shinnok's story starts before the 1st tournament and deals with the 1st Subzero so why not have him involved. A threat to the elder gods and Raiden is always a welcome addition to the story, imo.

I dont think he should be a Playable character, BUT, Shinnok and Quan Chi, along with Shang Tsung and Kahn Play a major role in Sindels resurrection during MK2....Infact MK2's Tournament was originally a Distraction so that she could be resurrected on earth successfully, as well as both of them having major roles in Sub-Zero's and Scorpions storylines... so if they were to appear, I think those points in the story would be the most obvious choices.

I might be the only person who thought every character past UMK3 was pretty lame, with the exception of Kenshi--liked him a little bit.

I'd imagine some folks, ala Quan Chi, will be in as DLC characters.
