Shao Kahn should NOT come back!!

I think Shinnok has a lot of potential. He's a fallen Elder God, lol. He should have crazy amounts of power at his fingertips and not be shy at all about throwing it around. His corruption should be present in his design, maybe all the clown colors were how he looked as an Elder God, but he's fallen. His colors should be muted and muddied, burgundy and rust, not red. His blue should be deep midnight horizon. Yellow should be tarnished with gray and brown hues mixed in. Make him more than just maliciously corrupt, make him dark and violent and hateful. Make him truly evil, not that fru-fru "I'll beat you all up!" evil that seems to permeate the MK universe.

This. I think I could have bought Shinnok as being greater than Kahn even if they changed his colors to just black and dark red but the bright rainbow colors he had in MK4 just didn't scream "ultimate badass" to me nor does it feel like something the Lord of the Netherrealm would wear.

I get that the devs were probably thinking of Vader and The Emperor when you compare Kahn and Shinnok. Vader like Kahn is this badass looking guy with immense power but buu contrast, The Emperor and Shinnok are these week looking old geezers but the difference is despite The Emperor looking weaker than Vader, you still kinda get the feeling that "yeah I can see Vader being afraid of this guy". With Shinnok though I just didn't get the feeling he was more powerful than Kahn (yes I know canonically Shinnok is the more powerfull of the 2) and it all had to do with his design mainly his bright colors.

I really hope for the next MK they really do a drastic re-design for Shinnok to make him look more threatening and hellish looking but at the same time, keep him recognizable.

You are a god, you are immortal, why look old? it's... lame lol

Don't tell me because he's an Elder god because ill punch you in the face XD

Uh, Old man Shang Tsung was the boss for how many games? He was the boss b4 kahn.

I've always been a fan of the underscored characters whatever the story. Shang has become the lesser boss, and so has Shinnok. Kahn has the giant figure, brute force, in your face intimidation while Shinnok has the more manipulative, behind the scenes, let them off themselves strategy. [just like everyones favorite dino is a TRex, mine is the raptor]

I like Shang as boss =)

I love Shao Kahn as well but, if they are going to replace him, they should do it with someone even stronger and better. It would seem kinda stupid to 'downgrade' after him.

If they continue the story, Shinnok is definitely coming back, I just really hope they don't bring Goro back with him. Either Motaro or Moloch would be nice, even a buffed up version of Drahmin would be cool too. No more Goro though, I'm so sick of him. He's lost his edge, you don't get that feeling when you play him like "oh man, not goro". He's just cheap and easy to beat, screw him.

Drahmin, Motaro, or Moloch as a new sub-boss. I'd rather them throw in the Deadly Alliance before Shinnok than Goro.

Shinnok is the worst boss character in MK history. I hope whoever though it was a great idea to put Shinnok as a playable character and as a boss like a normal character was fired.

And all he did was spam skull throws the ENTIRE match. No challenge whatsoever

Removing Shao Khan would be like taking out Bison from a SF game, or King Kooper from a Mario game.

Characters that are just as big, popular and integral to the games as the main heroes themselves.

I find it funny how people don't want a new boss but yet they want a new champion.

Like people said about Liu Kang, let someone else get a chance.

Well we dont know that Shao Khan was killed... only that he was carried off by the Elder Gods to be "punished".

I think it would be cool if the Elder Gods stripped him of ALL his power and he were in MK10 as a playable character but his power has been depleted so hes as powerful now as any other combatant

it's king koopa, and Bowser is absent from plenty of mario games, just sayin

I DO FIND IT FUNNY THOUGH, that the big "main" enemy of both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter didn't come in until the second game.

I think they needed more time to establish the series untill they found their "Ultimate Villains"

and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sagat the main villain of the original street fighter?

OK, all you whipersnappers talkin crap about how weak Shinnok is ? I bet not one of you finished MKM:Sub Zero ??? One of thee best MK games ever made. It explored the world of MK like no other game did. It was the first we ever saw Quan Chi, Shinnok and Fujin. It was soo cool to see MK go in such a different direction by telling a story from right before the MK tournament. I mean Fallen Elder God, meaning he already received the same punishment as Kahn and survived. He took over the Netherealm after that. He is the Father of Shao Kahn and Raiden, the 2 most powerful forces in all of MK ! I think he is way more bad @ss than some of you guys are giving him credit. Remember story mode ? Who would not think that he is somehow behind everything so much that at this particular time, you mortals can't even comprehend his cunning and genius ! Shinnok is alot smarter than you guys are giving him credit for, and I think even Ed Boon knows this.

Shinnok being the father of shao kahn and raiden is just crap they made up in the 2nd movie. And in mk4 he really was a lame boss, he had some cool specials but not even his own moveset and arena, he looked beyond lame and he also was easy as hell to beat. I think we all know he will be the boss in mk10, the ending of story mode in mk9 made it very clear. It will be very hard to make him even close to Shao Kahn's awesomeness but I think if they put some effort in his design and "evil-genius" personality it might turn out okay but his design in mk9 still sucks.

Speaking of Kahn, can someone tell me if they have the same issue I have, of not being able to select / unlock him?

(I have a UK copy - thanks)

I can't see Shao Kahn being removed forever. However, he may not be in the next game. I believe Shinnok would be the main villain in it instead, just like in MK4.

Sorry to burst you bubble mate, but Shao Kahn is UNPLAYABLE.the way he should be ;)

Kefka is one of the greatest video game villains of all time. He was colorful. I don't think this matters.

Your right that a villain doesn't have to be dark and gloomy to be great. The Joker is my all time favorite comic villain. But in MK when I think of villains, I think of darker characters. Yeah I know Shang wore bright blue in MK1 but he had a kinda regal appearance to him aswell. Shinnok just looks like a clown (ironic since as I said my favorite comic villain is Joker lol). Not to mention he was easy as hell to beat and really overall just felt like a step down when compared to Kahn. Just to be clear, I don't flat out hate Shinnok, I like his story and he's one of the post-MK3 characters I like, but his design just isn't what I'd expect one of MK's biggest, meanest badasses to look like.
