EXACTLY! Trilogy was dark as hell, they even slowed down all the music and made it sound heavier, the colors appeared to be darker as well. Trilogy was the first Mortal Kombat game I ever played, and its always been my favorite, So thats the game I always refer back to when I think of retro Mortal Kombat and my childhood. The game that scared the shit out of me. And thats how the series should be for the new generation of kids getting into MK. More ****ed up and evil.
Indeed. That was my biggest gripe about Shinnok was he was supposed to be this super bad ass fallen Elder God but he looked like a clown with all his bright colors and such where Shao Kahn looked like the what the love child of Conan the Barbarian, Atilla the Hun and a Samurai if they all had a threesome. Shao Kahn was intimidating not only in his design but his voice and everything. In MK2 and 3 when you realize the announcers voice was Kahn's it make him seem that much more omnipotent.
I don't mind Shinnok's story but his design makes it so I can't take him seriously. He's practically supposed to be MK's version of the devil. He should at least somewhat look the part. As I said in an earlier post, that's why I like Onaga. He at least looked like someone who once ruled over Kahn.
