Saying GG After a Game

Win or lose, ill send it after a match that I though was played well. I'll usually send ggs and commend them on what I think they did best during the match.

I tell them good fight in the chatbox if it was a good fight, a non cheap match, or a non spammer.

If they spam, I put in the chatbox, spammer.

If it's a good ass player, I tell them, you kicked my ass bad. But that was only like two players. Online is full of cheapes and spammers.

The point is, learning how to lose and learning how to know be an ego-maniac after each match goes a long way, and it shows a sense of maturity in this game (which seems to be lacking at some points, I'm afraid) so that when you face these people again, it'll be on much friendly terms, rather than as enemies.

This mentality will help you in future matches as well. We all have competitive spirits, even if we don't like to admit it. But, when you enter a match with the mindset that it's more of a friendly sporting fight than a 'I'm going to crush you and piss on your ashes' kind of a fight, you'll see that your attitude before, during, and after each match will improve as well. No matter how you win or lose, try saying 'GG' after a few matches. If you start to build the habit of doing that, I guarantee your gameplay experience will increase threefold. :D

Coming from Pro Level UnrealTournament 7-10 Years ago... and currently StarCraft2.. i tell you this. "GG" is an over used Term and meaningless phrase, nothing more or less. And from my Experience, 90% of the People always writing these phrases are hypocrits.

Yeah dude I agree 100%. Most won't, but lots of immature kids/people play this game so don't expect much in return. People are so idiotic on this game that after a match that I got beat by a dude spamming pretty bad I kindly rejected another match and typed "GG" into the message board thing. His response was "Huh? Your not mad?" I was like no dude it's a GAME. It just goes to show how rare it is for people to not get all butthurt after losing.
 
I tend to write "thunder take you!"

Ok that was a joke. I gg everytime regardless. For people who are really good I'll write "respect"
 
I don't write anything. No one is worth my time enough to open the XMB, make a new message, type gg, and send it. Unless it's a friend from on here or in real life. People don't need to be told if it was a good game or not. Either it was, or it wasn't.

Good way of putting it. I don't know about saying it after a single fight (logistics of it), but in any game where the rounds are long, or I play many against the same person(s) I always say it.

And as for other people's interpretation of it or their choice of 'post-game' words... just that, their choice. I'm gonna do my thing and be a good sport. Just a game, and games are meant to be fun.
 
this thread looks an awful lot like Blizzard GG threads on StarCraft.

GG does mean "Good Game" But you guys shouldn't use it LITERALLY.

You don't save it for "a close game you felt was good/fun"

It's a metaphor for a handshake, much like two pros do when they fight each other. Even if one gets flawless victoried on, they still shake hands right?

Since you can't shake hands online. GG is substituted.

So you guys saying "I only use GG for a real GG" That's not it's real intent lol.

It's to acknowledge your opponent that there are no hard feelings and you accept the game for how it went.

I know it's kind of confusing it's in the same context of "lol"

When you type lol, most of the time you aren't really LAUGHING out loud lol. It usually means you find it "amusing" at the least, or you smile, or whatever. That's why there are upgraded ones such as ROFLMAO LMAO ROFL ect ect, so they could really emphasize that they are laughing out oud for real.

Same with GG, you GG as a handshake, and acceptance for how the match went ect. If you REALLY want to let them know you thought it was a REAL GG. Then you go the extra mile to say, "Oh man we got some real close games, GG" Or something similar...

I don't care if they SPAM or if they play really gay and try to TIME you out. You should GG if they haven't said anything rude. You play to win, and because someone's style is boring, or they suck at the game and haven't gotten good yet doesn't mean they don't deserve a friendly handshake for the games.

I have ALOT of tournament friends because of my humble solid mature attitude at tournament scenes. I shake hands, I smile, no matter their skill level.

would you like it b,b,b,lp if you fought say I dunno Tom Brady, and you got schooled and you went to put out your hand, and he just walked away lol? It's a horrible feeling.

this has happened to me three times in Competitive gaming.

My worst story I beat someone in tournament, I stuck my hand out for a shake, he ripped out his controller, wound it up really fast and called me a fag. He followed me around the rest of the tournament and any time I combo'd someone he'd yell at me "That's mad gay, FAG" and when I got combo'd He'd yell "YEah Good S-WORD"

It's major disrespect to not acknowledge your opponent when the games are done.

Now... if they are rude to you while playing... no need to GG. Such as calling you names mid fight ect.
 
I say GG after a good match with someone. If they spam........YOU SUCK. GET GOOD AT THISE GAME. Rage etc. etc.

luckily most people who "spam" are the ones who get angry not me so I don't even need to GG cuz they send me a "YO MAMMA" message after they lose lol

Casuals deserve a GG, IMO

If you completely destroy somebody, That doesn't mean they weren't trying their hardest lol

By "play like a loser", I mean spamming.

And no, I don't mean zoning.

I mean using the same moves over and over even if you see they are ineffective, AND quit when you see you are losing.

That is when insults are dished out.


And about the casuals, I see no reason to say Good Game, if it was in fact not a Good Game.
GG IMO refers to me being pushed to the limit, showing me things I never thought possible, or just plain kicking my ass.


However, if I see a casual has potential, they are at least trying to use combos and/or techniques, I will give a GG, along with a tip.

Fair enough I guess, but there are so many different levels, Me and you probably seem like casuals to the top 8 MK players lol. I need to put more time into this game so I can advance my game. Even I have bad patterns, I know how to read/fix them. It's just a matter of time/experience.
