Problems with MKAK...

This just figures. If it's not near arcade-perfect, I can't get myself to buy. I'm too used to the Mame/arcade versions to settle for a buggy mess which, according to this guy, is exactly what it is :(

lol that guy has no idea what hes talking about . and its probably a server problem that will pass by

I've noticed a few bugs as well, specifically in MK2, when you throw ice with Sub, the sound effect stutters once rather than playing smoothly.

I don't have the game yet, but the sounds on that youtube clip are definitely off. Some of them are completley wrong (the uppercut sound is definitely off), and it sounds like some of them are the same but sound weird....the clapping is definitely wrong, but it sounds better than the original, which in a weird way makes it sound worse and not blend in.

I'm not sure how reliable a youtube clip is, but I agree with what was stated earlier....

These are 15-20 year old games. It's pretty pathetic if they can't get them right on modern consoles that have tons of horsepower. My crappy Pentium III computer was getting the original MK exactly right on MAME back in 1999.

If they can't figure out how to emulate something as well as MAME did 12 years ago, there's a serious problem here.

I would hope that they will fix and patch......but I know they won't!

MK3's music is WAAAY too low. I mean, that game has sick music and when you turn it up all the way it's still low you got to be kidding me. As someone else said, the difficulty does nothing at all. It doesn't matter what setting you put it on, it's all the same. All three games feel broken game play wise too.

I have not forgotten them either. I play these games on other consoles all the time (yes I still have my SNES, Genesis and N64). Not the same at all.

You do realize that A. the consoles were nothing like the arcade and B. the arcade was designed to get people to spend quarters?

Right on the console versions not being like the arcade ones, but still, these particular ports stink. The previous PSN MK2 game worked better in every aspect.

I have all 3 still on my SNES. If online = crap, no point in buying port. D:
Still, the originals were laggy and slow, and sometimes characters wouldn't connect properly. Different things would occur when you're supposed to put the fatality input code, such as characters doing their win pose, finished opponent never dropping etc.
Point being, the games were messed up to begin with.

Heres what I noticed so far as ONLY sound glitches (on MK1 and MK2) I havent even begun testing the sound quality in UMK3 yet.

MK1:

- Uppercut sound has been changed! Its not as brutal sounding.
- Thud on the ground sound after an uppercut or a jump kick is different, again it has been changed and not as brutal.
- The claps in the courtyard have been changed (newly recorded audio).
- The blood hitting the ground sound comes in and out at times, but it sounds different and doesn't have that "slimy splash" sound to it
anymore.

MK2:

-Sub-Zero Freeze-ball sound loops if the other opponent ducks it, or even if it makes contact freezing them. Wow, its super annoying!

Im guessing though you guys that the audio is something that they wont ever fix. Trust me... HOWEVER, I hope they do. Hahaha, Ed Boon lied... saying "Everyone will enjoy these games UNTOUCHED as they did in the past in Arcades. Bahahah, what a bunch of crap! I'm starting to doubt that we will EVER get an ARCADE PERFECT PORT of the first three games! Maybe when they try and release this again sometime in the future (4 years from now probably lol) they will add in MK4 with the bundle! I'm so sad, I never got to play MK4 in the arcades. I have only played MK1, MK2, MK3, and UMK3 in arcades... So sad!

:(

Laggy and slow? MK1, sure, but not MK2-UMK3. Then again I only play the arcade versions. I thought SNES versions, although seemingly better than Genesis versions, were crap (especially MK3/UMK3).

As far as them being "messed up," there were certainly some bugs in each game, but nothing like what's being described in these ports. I find that unacceptable.

I guess if you want truly arcade perfect and untouched MAME is the only way to go other than getting the original PCBs and building a homebrew cabinet like a friend of mine did or getting a dedicated MK cabinet. Also I noticed from a video I saw elsewhere that the music has been remastered in stereo and I was getting sound from my surround speakers watching the video... the old games didn't have stereo sound not even MK3 did. They where all monophonic. And yes I noticed the clapping was different it was a lot crisper sounding like it's obviously a higher sampling rate\new recording. So no apparently these are not untouched.

But then again Ed Boon has made claims in the past that didn't live up to reality like saying certain home versions of MK4 where better than the arcade (like the PC version) despite them being the same lazy port that pandered to the consoles and didn't look anywhere near as good as the arcade and didn't take advantage of PC hardware of the time.

I agree and also all the SNES versions dissapointed me if it wasn't the gameplay or lack of fatalities like in the original it's the blurry simplified graphics, smaller fighters, and worse music compared to the arcade.

Sadly I agree with this guy. What is the use of supporting NRS if they can't even port a 19 year old video game correctly. The MAME ports are a lot better.

On the other hand it was Other Ocean who did the porting not NRS.

Yea but NRS said they tested it and Boon said its "Arcade Perfect" himself! Well this ENTIRE ARCADE KOLLECTION is crap! If they dont fix these audio issues AND these issues (http://diehardgamefan.com/2011/08/30/10-thoughts-on-mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-sony-ps3/), then I will NEVER AGAIN BUY ANY Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, no matter how good they say it is! Well... unless they include MK4 in it... hehhe, I love MK4 (but then again, it will probably be glitch as fu*k!) So sad right now! If this were a disc based game, I would break this damn game in half! I swear! Okay... im done now..

bye

i thought my mind was playing tricks on me. no mk1 uppercut sound....blasphemous! that sound, alone, built this entire franchise. shame on you nrs. shame on you ed boon. how have they had this poo since june, and this is what we get? the music in umk3 is barely audible, and the sub zero freeze loop in mk2 is just a sad thing to hear. these games deserve better than this. i won't go into my tirade against nrs, but this is a really crappy thing to deliver to fans.

I agree 100%! So mad! and sad! I was waiting for this so bad! I was gonna stop playing MK9 because of this Arcade release! But when I finally got my hands on it... I almost popped a blood vessel! How can this 19 year old game get screwed up THIS BAD!?!?!! Well... back to MK9 I guess!
