Actually, I absolutely agree with you on that one. Recoloring, updating language, excessive DNR...**** that. Proper restoration is bringing the film back to its original quality, and it's technically a bit of an art form. Making changes like the ones you mentioned is not restoration at all, it's butchering. So I share your hate for that.
When it comes to remade games though, they are not changing original material, but completely starting from scratch. So the goal is to as closely replicate the original elements in HD. You can't give low resolution artwork more detail, you have to remake it. That's why the process can't really be compared.

The allure of comedies like the Three Stooges is the actors, their personalities, and the situations they're in. Comedies don't rely much on high-quality visuals because it's the other content that is the focal point. Enhancing the visuals isn't gonna add much to the focal point of the product, so doing so is pretty pointless. They have the Three Stooges in color, and it certainly didn't detract from it.

If you're gonna compare video game visuals to movie visuals, you have to use a movie that has a focus on the visuals. Movies like Rambo or Terminator are more appropriate because a big reason you watch these movies is the action and over-the-top visuals.

With games, vibrant, crisp imagery is a huge focal point. If they weren't, there wouldn't be enough HD remakes for you to get tired of them. Of course there is more to it than just eye candy, but if you can make a game look better, it's a plus. Yes, a lot of these screenshots look horrible, but a lot are also unfinished mock-ups, so judging what the final product would've looked like is unfair since you're not looking at the final product here.
 
I believe the pics, and the youtube vid in the beginning of this post are fakes. It all looks terribly bad, almost Atari Jaguar or Sega32x bad. I do believe ive seen something more credible just a still mind you of MK2 hd on shao khans colliseum level. New to here sorry, I use to be on MK nexus, site vanished for years then reappeared as daves mk, like trmk better

These screenshots in the video are AWSOME. I'm really surprised to hear that from you, i really love them. Would be awsome to see this in life, this would work out much more than even MK9.
 
I think the select screens look like **** but as far as the gameplay would go I think it could possibly still be worth buying (at least for me ). I just really like the UMK3 remake on the DS. I love my old games and how they looked but the UMK3 for DS is so new and unbroken. If the gameplay changed than that's one thing, otherwise I'd get it if they came out with it someday :)

Indeed. Don't know how anyone could think that looks more credible, you can clearly see everything's been cut and pasted together. It looks cool, but still an obvious fake. There's actually better ones out there.

UMK3 is probably by far the most popular MK game. I think it would be cool to see them add DLC to that game or a remake of MK Armageddon and scrap the KAF with real finishing moves
 
I'm sorry, but whoever thinks that that Death Cargo demo looks like s**t , however entitled to their opinion, needs to get their facts straight. Go watch it again. That is the single coolest thing i've seen in a long time. I wish MK10 was done like this.......and yes, it does prove what alot of us have been saying for along time. IT CAN BE DONE. The thing restricting it is that its restricted to exact remakes. its gonna be difficult to recreate the same hit box with a new actor. But if it were done as maybe say a reboot, its entirely ENTIRELY possible.
