Pretty sure I know why MKHD was cancelled . . .

why can't people see that mk9 is a horribly animated game? just watch smoke do his bnb combo...his shoulder socket dislocates itself. lol. same with johnny cage's standing kick.

Because quite frankly, no one gives a shit. Honestly. I'm entirely too worried about the fight to sit there and analyze the validity of my character's motions. In a world where people can freeze eachother and turn into dragons, I find it insanely difficult to notice when someone's movements aren't entirely spot on.

Looks like there's still plenty of discussion on this.

My final thoughts on HDAK are that it would've been a much better idea to simply remake MK Trilogy. They would've only had to make one engine, and the beauty is that it wouldn't have had to be "arcade perfect" because there was no arcade release. MKT was also broken to begin with, so basically, that leaves a lot of room for change. It would've been far less work than trying to remake three games. At the end of the day, that project was just too ambitious for its own good. I think that MKTHD would've had a much better chance of happening, and it's a shame the devs didn't try for that option instead.

They weren't "remaking" all 3 games, tho. They were just remaking the visuals. Making MKT-HD would've been a lot of work in the visual department, but then they would also have to remake the fighting engine and everything else, too. With the HDK, they only had to redo the visuals of all 3 games. I don't really know which would've been work, but both are major undertakings, and having MKT-HD would've have had the same effect since a lot of the point to the HDK was the nostalgia factor.

And if they're gonna remake any of the games, they might as well just make a whole new, sprite-based MK in HD. That would be excellent, too.

LOL

Personally don't see anything wrong with the animations, they are the best I've ever seen in an MK game actually.
@gamemk I'm sorry to say it but you really need to move on. It seems as if you dedicate most of your time here to complain about how inferior MK9 is compared to the classics. In this case, because it doesn't use digitized actors. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but there's really nothing substantial you can use to back it up. The only examples of modern games to use digitized actors still can't touch the quality of 3D models IMO. This is the best realism you're going to get in a fighting game, for the performance you're getting out of it.

Unfortunately no, I don't believe it's that simple. The games would've had to be made from the ground up, each one requiring its own engine. They would've had to "match" the gameplay in the remakes to the originals, because of all of the updated assets (and even ratio).

Why would you think this? SSF2T-HD is just an emulated version of the original game where they replace the original sprites with the HD sprites, and the general consensus was that this was gonna be done the same way. I seriously doubt they would've changed the aspect ratio because doing so would've changed the gameplay. (Certain moves (like Scorpion's teleport) wouldn't work the same since the playing field would be longer.) I'm certain they would've just added sidebars like they have in the MKAK, XBL UMK3 and PSN's MKII. There's also the fact that creating a new engine would end up changing the gameplay in some form, regardless of how much time they spent on them.

Wow guys, I'm really impressed. Death Cargo looks just AWSOME, all 3D fightings (except MK9) just suck before it. Real actor sprites are the best ever, MK HD would be just a dream come true.

Listen! They will get around to it someday PROMISE! especially if we stay in 2d which i hope. Its in Netherealm minds (milk the cash cow, how many x will we buy the same game lol) I'm sure and they tend to copycat Capcom quite a bit, ( Mk vs Dc, going back to 2d) honestly i swear in another thread half of you young guys who weren't around when 1 2 3 was in full swing ***** about those being "unplayable, i dont see why anyone wants to go back"

The screenshots clearly show that the game was in 16:9 ratio. The gameplay would've been changed in some form no matter what, because of the new actors. As for SSF2HD, well I don't know anything about its development, but I'm sure it would've been far more work than simply replacing the sprites in an emulated version. The way I see it, if you're emulating something then you're stuck with the limitations of whatever system you're emulating. If it's an old system then I can't see how it could handle HD assets for instance without a deadly performance hit. It'd probably need to be hacked to bits to accommodate updates like that. I'm no game developer, this is just my speculation, so I could be wrong. But either way, it would be much more difficult than you're suggesting, and SSF2HD would've been nowhere near as hard to make as MKHD.
