PC Version / General Discussion Thread

what the hell is going on now?? I never had lag in MKX before (if u can believe it) now i do. I used to get the frame skip on intros and smooth gameplay. Now its reversed, smooth intros and laggy gameplay?? any word on the next patch? i cannot deal with this anymore. I love this game, LOVE IT! but I cannot stand not being able too play it after dropping my hard earned effing money on it. I know this is a broken record but please, does anyone have any idea of upcoming plans on a patch?? God forbid NRS keeps us posted on this subject. I mean there are petitions online about people wanting their money back!!!!! and they dont have the decency too at least just tell us their progress on the PC version??? even if they posted one sentence!! like "we are working on the next PC patch now" THATS IT!!! WTF im just so Effin pissed its not even funny. Im going to go punch something now

I will be honest. No news on patch (at least I didn't see), also same issues like yours.
I wouldn't be surprised if HVS is thinking "mission accomplished, no more need for patches".
I get a feeling that unless Netherrealm or someone else steps up, MKX won't be fixed.

oh god that would be so brutal.

Same here. New update makes my game fancier to the eye (even MED Shadows look better) and eliminates the intro lag (more or less) but it kills my CPU and that causes stuttering. What I noticed: before patch all 4 CPU cores were loaded equally, now two cores are at constant 100% usage while the other two are running at 50%. WTF?! That totally killed the smooth gameplay. I re-installed and I'm done with new patches. I won't have Blanche brutality, I won't have DLCs (not that I'm excited about Jason or anything), I won't play online. My offline game is as Lex Lutha said: stuttering intros but smooth gameplay.

Oh, by the way: I couldn't pull off LK's Dragon's Den brutality for a long time, not even in Brutality Kombat. Recently I unlocked his Kounter Top Brutality, did it in Kustom Kombat with Brutality Kombat. Then I tried Dragon's Den again and it worked! And it works since then. I don't know why but I read that many people had the same problem who use older versions of the game. If it solves anyone's problem like mine then your welcome!

What I can't understand though, that this is not that bad of a port but every patch brings new problems while solving others.

MKKE and IGAU were perfect on my rig after I upgraded my system to surpass the Recommended setup. Currently my CPU is only 90% of the recommended one and maybe with an i7 the stuttering would be eliminated but why the minimum reqs then if devs can't optimize the game correctly.

I can understand everyone's disappointment who bought this game and wanted this game so badly as I am. But I can't shake off the feeling that we brought this on our own heads. Ed said something like that to Angry Joe that they've only recently finished the game so they couldn't hand it over to HVS to port it back to PS3 and X360. That means that PC version is NOT A PORT. It was developed concurrently based on the original game's code as Rigo Cortes tweeted it. That's why walk away animations were missing as those were put in late in the development process and HVS couldn't jam them in before launch. So HVS were updated the game step by step as it was developed by NRS and they were always a step behind. And they still do it, they try to solve it step by step, patch by patch, but it is a mess like the Frankenstein monster, it is stitched together and incompatibility always messes things up.

All because they wanted to avoid our anger and fury if the PC version were delayed too. That's not an excuse, I agree that it shouldn't be. At the same time I know I would have been utterly disappointed if the game had been held back. Someone wrote on this forum before launch that he would have rather waited another two months for a perfect port than have a half-baked game at launch. Oh, he was so right, but I saw differently back then. And I still am happy to be able to play the game, even in this state, without a functional online, but it comes with a price. A price that we all paid. And it wasn't cheap. So we can rightfully expect constant support and a fully functional game for that price but I'm afraid that this game can't be patched. The best we can hope for that if a Komplete Edition ever happens, HVS will be able to pinpoint all the issues and solve them by then.

Until then I look at this game as a playable demo with functions missing or consider myself a beta tester. The problem is if a fix never happens and I paid a full price for this demo.

Calling the PC version a "port" is an oxymoron. It uses an engine built on a PC mostly for PC market, the game assets and code was made on a PC, using tools that are exclusive for the PC. So yeah, it's a PC game.
Apparently it takes a lot of effort to make sure the actual ports (consoles) are better than the "source material" (PC).

Just because the game was built on a PC doesn't mean it was built FOR PC. All console games are made on PC, in engines made for making console games, and that is obviously how NRS made MKX as well. If it wasn't, they would obviously not need someone else to port the game for PC. It seems more likely that MKX was made for consoles, seeing as there's little trouble on the console versions and so much trouble with the PC version.

There is no way an i5 4670K @ 4.5GHz is not enough for MKX. The lag just started yesterday too for some reason. The only issue I had post patch was online crashes. It started lagging out of nowhere. Idk. I'm going to give these clowns the benefit of a doubt that they will get this game working properly soon. I have faith!

The point went waaay over your head.

Hint: "PC port is an oxymoron".

I highlighted the parts I think are the most hilarious. You do realize that spending time on a platform that brings the most revenue, and giving the other version to some half-assed 3rd party means exactly what I've said before? One does not simply push out a product on a platform, while spending much less development time on it, and expect it to be just as good.

If that's too hard for you to understand: The PC version is simply a) unfinished & b) buggy due to lack of testing. It's obvious because NRS had consoles as a priority.

And like I said, the console version was obviously the priority, as the game was made for consoles, then given to another team who then had to make it work on PC as well. I'm not saying you are wrong in that the PC port is unfinished and hadn't been tested enough, I'm just underlining why that is, because there are people who think it is logical just because that if a game is made on a PC, it MUST be made FOR a PC. But that's not the case here.

He is right. I find it strange as well to call it PC port, but while it was made on PC it was made in entirely different format, and it only can be read by consoles. So changing to the format which can be read by PC is called porting.

But I would say it is useless to even discuss about that. Cause there is a fact: Game is broken, we have been robbed, lied to and made fun of.

Then I say made fun of... we wait for patches, they promise patches and they send us patches, they rise our hope and THEN CRUSH IT LIKE A BUG. Every patch solves one problem, but adds few more. It is what I consider a humiliation, as we paid our money for it, we wasted our time waiting for it, and some of us had even delayed way more important tasks just so to try MKX.

Worse part, there are no exceptions even with this patch. From 20 people. 20 PEOPLE I know who have MKX. No one is reporting ANYTHING remotely GOOD about this current built. Because not only stuttering is happening, crashes are also back. Some people cannot play 2 matches without crashing. AGAIN.

Yeah I don't know how about you guys. But next time they will be releasing MK11... I won't even look at it. I won't care even if Netherrealm will decide to do PC version themselves. Screw them, screw their game, and screw their GODDAMN INNOVATIONS
Oh and all dlcs... yeah screw mkx as well. I will try to play it a bit more, but maybe only when I have really nothing more interesting to do.
Hell I won't care even if they decide to make Frost playable and make her new complete unique badass design with unique combat moves. Cause I said... Screw MK series all together.

To be honest PC community was at the short end of the stick since MK9. They had 2 YEARS to make a decent MK9 port and still managed to make MK9 feel like leftovers (everything unlocked, so Krypt basically useless(took the fun of unlocking everything), performances issues in certain stages, shitty netcode (but ok it happened on consoles as well), certain stages missing from arcade tower, stuttering) and now MKX... unplayable. (Crashes, netcode, framedrops, stuttering, CPU overloads, memory leaks). Amazing.

So if they are thinking that they gonna have massive support from PC community in the future... I believe they are greatly mistaken (unless some people in pc community have no dignity). Trust is broken, faith is broken and respect is gone completely. They can go to hell.

Yep. They've definitely lost my business. I've enjoyed their previous products for sure. Injustice, that Mortal Kombat Arcade Trilogy thing, MK9 on PC, even MKX on consoles before I got to try the PC version at a friend's and heard about all the other shit wrong with it on a technical level. I can't believe I almost bought that PC version for myself. I don't care what any fanboy says, if those guys got as nearly a version even nearly as broken it would be WW3.

PC port logic.
PC > Console > PC.

Being a programmer at NRS/HVS must suck. Especially considering how consoles right now are nothing but mini-PCs with their own OS. The only thing I can think that's so different at this point are the network capabilities.

Then why are you on an MK fansite in the first place if you hate MK?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk

Genius, just in case you didn't notice, before MKX went to **** I was counting until it's release with everyone else here. It's not the game I hate, it is how they treat us (PC community). For that reason I said screw it... sigh

Could anyone please tell me, why I am explaining this to him?

Also you're in no position to tell me that Tarkatan Trash. You dislike Frost so much, yet you have come MULTIPLE TIMES into MY thread just to post how you don't like her or what copy she is. In a thread made for FROST FANS. If I were you, I would remain silent on a topic like that, as it would make me sound like a Hypocrite. Not to mention this thread is made for PC version discussion. PC version sucks. I think anyone who has PC version would agree with me here. And there is NOTHING positive about current build. So... what do you want me to talk about? Rainbows and unicorns? Well I can't, cause there are none. Only a 6th error message in a row, from trying to play MKX.

But to answer your question. I still keep petition going for Frost fans and I try to gather and share info with other members here about current PC version condition (well members who don't consider themselves center of the earth with holy truth in their hands, like yourself). I might said "screw it" to MK, but there are members here I respect and want to help with information. Might also remind you that forums are made to share opinions.

And I surely believe that I can allow myself to say "screw MK series" after making 9 good quality female skins/mods for MK9, making 6 MK fan arts/concept arts, MK wallpaper, a full Frost fan trailer for MKX, MKX petition, and whole comic based on MK universe. This track record doesn't make me super special fan, but it surely keeps me away from that "Troll" title (also which suits you way better).

So keep your smarta$$ comments to yourself. I am in no mood to play with you.

I take it you have no experience with programming(hell there is no need for programming experience). So ok. Let me explain. Consoles use a way different format. Files are different. There is no .exe, there is no autorun, majority of files can only be read by consoles. As they have have their unique format/executables. If I were to put console cd into PC, I would get a bunch of files I couldn't even execute, cause PC wouldn't be able to READ IT AT ALL. There would be only files with blan document icon and some folders filled with the same blank document files.

Also network capabilities are the least different thing between PC and console.

For shits and giggles, nothing to take seriously.

I still love you my trolling Mileena hater <3

What you've said basically translates to this: PC > Console > PC. But yeah I'm just gonna sit in my chair here while...programming...and read about how file extensions and different compression methods work on a console and PC. Even though...X86...Whatevers!1 You got me there!

Alright, so what's so different between a console and PC now? I'd like to know.
