Ok so like I said before. If you were right about HVS being chosen by WB. NRS either didn't keep in contact/checked properly on PC version and also thanks to the reminder [MENTION=18014]theincubuslord[/MENTION] HVS had to go through NRS final check. And in the end we got such version... yeah...

I'm not saying NRS is blameless. I'm saying that we should be sensible in assigning who gets how much of the blame. HVS has screwed up two PC ports in a row and NRS has screwed up supervising two PC (and now console) ports in a row. There are clear lessons to be learned here. We should probably not trust HVS with ports, and we should probably not trust the ports of NRS games.

I felt that interviews with Himmerick and Kittelsen made it abundantly clear that only the PS4 and XBone versions of the game are legit NRS products.

it doesn't matter if they only workedon PS4 and Xbox One. HVS got game from NRS. And NRS did piss poor job on checking PC version condition.

Also about HVS... it is not probably. This isn't the first port they mess up. They have a history of bad ports even with other companies. It is common sense to avoid them as much as possible now.

Also no one is blaming NRS for making crappy PC Port, but that they let it happen.

You said earlier that incubus said earlier that NRS "let" the PC port go through in its obviously unfinished state... but since when does a developer have final say about release dates? How do we know that the PC port's release wasn't commanded from on high by WB, to coincide with the launch of PS4 and XBone and mooch off of their great publicity?

Unless publisher goes dictator mode, normally studio and publisher have meetings about dates, condition of the product, etc...

So what you said makes everything even worse.

Netherrealm could have avoided that if they just checked on PC version. Tell WB that game is in bad condition (months before release) and fix the problem. That obviously didn't happen. How do I know that? Well.. NRS said it works as good as console versions. Fact that game is broken, makes that statement false and shows that...

NRS didn't check game until the release. After going through final run they just covered their eyes and pressed Launch button.

Yes, what I'm saying is "how do you know that publisher didn't go dictator mode?"

If I'm WB and I find out that the PC port blows chunks, I don't want to take two months fixing it so it can come out with the also chunk blowing last gen games, because no one will buy any of those things. I want it to launch simultaneously with PS3 and XBone so it gets their good publicity and sells well. Then maybe release a patch or something.
 
So to summarize everything:

ALL OF THIS would have been avoided if there was someone from NRS supervising HVS work, if HVS wouldn't have been chosen to begin with and if NRS/WB gave a **** about PC community.

So to make SAFE blaming
NRS = didn't supervise HVS
HVS = didn't do their job
WB = chose/approved HVS
result = broken PC version, broken trust, alpha game quality.

Let's just say WB said "no matter what, MKX releases for PC at the same time as consoles"

NRS then can just supervise HVS to make sure they make MKX as good as possible for release date.

... Really dude? That is like scraping the bottom of the barrel....

The initial release had missing parts... if HVS had broken the game even MORE than that... how the hell are they not bankrupt yet?

They had months to fix errors, yet couldn't fix simple things like Memory leaks (and that is basic stuff even for me). And you're telling me that under supervision of Netherrealm they couldn't fix in time even such obvious errors? Then they had MONTHS for development? Nah... in no way I buy that, cause that would contradict with the current condition of MKX on consoles.

Hell the bugs, crashes and memory leaks like that only existed in alpha version of my game and it took me 2 WEEKS to fix them. ALL BY MYSELF. Yet a TEAM of professional, the goddamn veterans who are supervised by NRS, the guys who made the game, couldn't fix that in in few months??? What kind.. just.. nah. Nope.

I don't know how they're not bankrupt now, so presumably the same way that they're not bankrupt now would be how they aren't bankrupt if they screwed up even worse. Maybe they have photos of WB's CEO in a gay orgy.

This is all semantics unless you try to use this to launch some sort of anti-NRS soapbox. If all you're interested in is expressing your own personal dissatisfaction and frustration with the terrible fortune you've been dealt as a PC fan of the MK franchise, then I offer you my sincere sympathies.

I am not trying to launch anything (it would be waste of time). I am no expert in this matter, nor I know what exactly happens in NRS/WB/HVS meetings and so on. Even so I know the options they have. And no matter which option they choose, HVS/NRS and WB are guilty. Just for different things.

One way or another facts are here. Hell we had the big man, the representative of NRS, the Mr.Boon vouch for the condition (on a video) of the game. So already NRS has lies on their hands.
And then you send game for port, you usually send full game. Fact that game had missing parts and animations during release, just cemented the fact that NRS didn't even bother to check on PC version until it was too late. And HVS sucks at its job.
Also a fact that game port has to go through NRS for final check, and there was no attempt to delay it or notify people.


Also just checked my dev notes from academy I went to. Final check has to be done before Goldmaster. Or in other words, before game goes gold. NRS knew about PC condition weeks before the release, so that means that during Angry Joe interview Boon lied...
WB is also amazing... instead of delaying game... robbed people out of their money.
Yeah everyone has their hands dirty to some degree. Screw NRS/HVS and WB. At least I will be fair and equal about that. Screw everyone.

This is MAYBE the last message of mine regarding this matter. Cause I think I just vented out everything. What happened with PC version is pathetic, humiliating and completely disrespectful to anyone who supported NRS/WB (or even HVS).

I am done with MKX.
 
So how is the patch? From what I can see from Steam forums...it ain't good.

The dev's have got a very hard job to do, Lets give them a chance to do their best for us. after all they are human like us. Give respect instead of slagging them off. That's how you demand respect: by releasing a shitty product day 1.
 
It is hard to hate NRS but the bottom line is if you don't feel u can Produce a good quality PC game, then just don't. If they told us a year ago that there was going to be no PC version, I would have saved my pennies and got a next gen console by the time the game launched.

By no means do I want to offend you but really? You're going to take that sitting down? I mean I can't tell anyone what to do with their money. But are your standards really so low for this product that you'll buy it admitting in your own words that it's a "shitty version", just because it's MKX? I'm sorry but it's mentalities like this that have been giving developers the idea that releasing games in such a poor state is acceptable. Ever since the beginning of 7th gen it's been this way. And no, it doesn't take much to please me. I'd settle for a FUNCTIONAL game. One that I could sink some hours into without thinking "well shit, hope my save progress is there tomorrow." Again, not trying to offend you. But I vehemently disagree.

Yeah. And for us who buy the game life is all rainbows and unicorns. Money drop the sky and we don't need to work... sigh... it is not like we PAY for they game or anything. So yeah sure, why not? Let's give them respect...

Thinking the exact same thing. In this case it would have been better if they just didn't release PC version. That would have been better than having this crap.

Indeed. The most unfortunate thing is that in every other industry company wouldn't get away by doing as sloppy job as HVS / WB has done. If for instance I was in the restaurant and the food I received was ice-cold, rotten or completely raw and I complained about it, would other customers just yell "Stop complaining, chefs have very hard job to make food for customers. Have some respect". Of course not.

Not the best example but the point stands.

Well i dont have any PS/Xbox and frankly i thought it wasnt even sure if it was going to run on my PC, so just from there i'm already on bonus XD And while the performance i have may be shitty by your standards, it's pretty decent by mine. So yeah, my context is different.

I do not believe that developers should halfass it, but given it's not the game itself what's broken but the technical aspects of the port which can be fixed, i can tolerate it.
