Xenomorph, yes... but... that chainsaw guy? I doubt it. And I didn't think Bo'Rai Cho was so requested either. Not compared to the likes of Fujin. Though I do like Bo's addition. All in all, if the chainsaw guy was replaced with Fujin, it would make more sense to me, because the cyborg ninjas are requested alot as well, so Triborg kinda makes sense too.
The only guy that seems completely out of place is the chainsaw guy. I truly doubt he was high up on the list of requested characters added to a Kombat Pack. Hell, I even doubt he was high up on the list of guest character requests.

I saw Leatherface's name in like 2 places at most. Bo Rai Cho was already a question mark for me. Cause I mean.. Yeah there were requests for him. There were people who wanted him. But Leatherfeace was complete and utter WTF.
It's simple advertising at it's best. To bring up something BBBLP touched on briefly, yes it's true the Xenomorph was highly requested. It's also true that Fujin and the 3 NPC's were also incredibly requested daily by tons and tons of people hounding NRS over the fact there are NPC's in the game that should be made available. You could also argue that there have been tons and tons of similar requests for the other cameos in the game as well (Li Mei, Frost, ect.)
What's the difference though? Advertising. Alien: Covenant is nearing production. What else is gearing up for production soon? Another Chainsaw Massacre film. And guess who happens to star in the next web series that is aimed to come out around when this pack is likely gonna release? Good old Bo'. So to be quite frank, Tri-Borg is the only real fan-service character in this pack. The rest I highly doubt were put in due to fan-demand.
So, at least to my eyes, this is a blatant cash grab and a disgusting one at that. I believe in coincidence but not one, not two but three characters who all have that in common in the same pack? Yeah, that's no coincidence.
Yep, the one that's supposedly coming out early 2016... which if that guy is to be believed who originally said it, would put it coming out around the same time as these KP2 characters releasing.

That more than likely got shitcanned. Some rough draft that got leaked during the concept stage. You can tell how old it is too, it has Erron Black's name as "Salazar". Which means this thing was around before the comics were even being written.
The director of the series himself said "early next year" just a few weeks ago.

Agreed. That's one area I cannot knock this game. For me, this is the first entry since MK3 where I haven't disliked a single new character. I can't wait to see the likes of D'Vorah, Erron Black and Ferra/Torr in live action.

By Cash Grab I meant spending an extra $30 on post game content after spend $60 on the main game, an extra $40 if you got the collectors edition, spending an extra $32-37 for KP1+Goro+Costume, and (for some) spending dozens on Microtransactions only to end it all of with a second $30 dollar combat pack. CoD's DLC packs and $50 season passes are also fanservice, but what does everyone who isn't a fan call those DLC packs again?

Honestly, I was not too excited by characters revealed (except for perhaps the Xenomorph). However, it doesn't mean the letter speaks for me. The casuals vs core fans comparison rubs me the wrong way. People like games for different reasons. Some people dig MK lore to an exhaustive degree, yet have little understanding or interest in gameplay. Fans of MK can have other interests, and may even like guest characters just as much, if not more than the "original" characters. While not annoyingly rude, the author comes as cross as somewhat...entitled.

Entitled due to what exactly? The fact I think there should be a limit on how many guests get in? The fact I rightly pointed out that its ultimately their franchise, that they can do with it as they wish and I was merely voicing my opinion? That I'm still supporting them by buying the only two MK characters in the pack but I refuse to purchase any further guests? That I expect and hope the majority of post-launch characters would be actual MK characters and not split evenly down the middle? Didn't realize wanting more focus on MK in an actual MK game came off as entitlement.

No matter how you slice it, you are just bitter that KP2 didn't end up being what you wanted and feel you (as a "core fan") deserve something more to your liking.
If the MK fanbase at large had a strong stance against guest characters, it would have stopped with Freddy Kreuger in MK9. It turned out he was a top selling DLC character. Buying guest characters is only going to encourage the trend, it's no surprise that NRS/WB would try to repeat what was successful.
