Online gamer is stabbed 22 times

But you were the idiot who agreed to the bet. He didn't force you, it was on your own volition. The same people that would kill over a lost bet that they agreed to are the same people who would kill for looking at them funny.

I was kind of forced to agree because he and his other friends were saying that I'm too scared if I won't agree. But, that was high school. this called peer pressure took over me at the time. Now, I know way better of course. Though, I wish I could find out right away who to really trust as friends.

Whatever they were talking about, Kemp underestimated his friend's anger and ability to carry out a threat. It was a mistake to say something that will add fuel to the fire, especially without the protection of online anonymity.

This is stupid, but tragic. I somehow doubt it directly had to do with the games they were playing. Close friends know all the buttons to push, so there was likely something else going on.

That's your own fault, no one else's.

I read the article again, doesn't mention they were playing any game. Could have just been party chatting.

Stabbed 22 times and lived. the dude took it like a boss. on a serious note though, i agree there's more going on here then what meets the eye. i've raged before playing a game online or in a party chat before, i'm sure most of have at one point but i've never been mad enough to want to kill someone overa game. i agree that there was something deeper going on between these two guys. whatever that is though, we'll probly never know.

He's the new scarface.

Yeah I for some reason see someone blaming games for this as well. Jack Thompson anybody?

This kid probably would've raged into a murderous intent with something else if it wasn't this. I haven't played FPS competitively since halo 2. So I don't know just how bad the community is.

I know SC2 and MK9 and SSBM are great communities in general. (Obviously some MK9 online players are douches, but if you play with members of the forum like TYM or TRMK or MKU you will more than likely not find that kind of attitude.

I'd have to agree with this.

And as Webster said, we've all raged before (I rage like a total c*nt sometimes), but it lasts a whole 30 seconds before I move on.

I killed a friend once over less.

Agree that there was something more being discussed then just a gamerscore. A girl was most likely brought up as to the I see this story is about two brothers from le ghetto of Sacramento.

Partly my fault. Not all my fault.

The article certainly came across more to me as trying to put the focus on the 'problems' with video games being violent.

Typical media BS trying to find an excuse, as opposed to the kid having some serious anger issues. OH LOOK WHAT THE GAME DID, but, really, if it was the fault of the game, why haven't we all stabbed our friends?

I remember when some guy was arrested for street racing and he had Need for Speed in his car.

The game got 100% blame.

I guess that means street racers in the 80s must have carried Ataris with Pole Position in their Corvairs, Camaros, and Skylines.

Nevermind that the Neanderthal Association for Stodgey Car Automobile wRecking was originally spawned of street racing bootleggers with 'rods built to outrun cops. people.

People of the older generation generally did not grow up with video games, thus they tend to be suspicious about the new medium. Before video games came into the picture, there was concern about television and its effects on people, with detractors calling it the "boob tube" and other derisive nicknames.

Truth be told, I question if people (myself included) obsess too much with their entertainment. However, I don't think violence in video games will turn people into murderous lunatics anymore than violent literature and films of the past and present.

I've been T.V. free for 4 years now.

feels great, the internet is still as bad, but atleast I'm usually learning something legit or can check it myself. Where as T.V. knowing whether or not steve urkel was gonna get with that girl or not, didn't help my brain develop.... at all.

I take in some forms of alternative media,

Which is why I love The Young Turks. The host of the show is a democrat and I disagree with him on probably about half the issues he talks about but I respect him because he is smart/honest/reports things I NEED to know with the occasionally random funny/interesting thing. He backs up his stuff with facts and it's hard to argue pure facts.

I use to be all about guns everywhere, More guns = safer environments. Because no one is gonna rob a bank where everyone is carrying a pistol.

But then Cenk from that show showed me numbers, and I'm 100% in favor of STRONG regulation now. I still want people to be able to buy guns, I just think it should be extra hard.

Fox news/CNN/MSNBC all disgust me with their agenda/bias they wear on the sleeves obviously. They are about as bought out as our politicians are. Otherwise they'd be reporting this disgusting corrption as if it's headlines.

I take in Anime and that'sa bout it. I buy DVD's and read manga. Other than that it's video games/alternate media news/Work/sleep/eat.

Sometimes I do volunteer work in my town, but I've been lazy on that the past month or so. prolly cuz i've been working 70 hours a week.
