Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

A guy can look this unrealistically roided out and not be mentioned at all or complained about. So please tell me when in Mk, SF or just gaming in general that we have seen a normal or heavy male in any role other then that of a joke.

I have openly expressed my feelings on how disgusting the men look as well. It's just not as offensive as the women.

Also, that Kitana picture is so fake I don't see how it's even turned into a conversation piece.

Double standards are really a pain in the rear. I too agree that the men look disgusting.

Going back several pages, what Tarkatan posted was a picture of a heavily steroid-used guy who he believed women would fall head over heels for that. I disagreed completely. Muscles on a guy, yes, is nice to see, but that? Hell no. There wasn't even any ounce of flattery being shown in that picture.

And of course there was the question, "You don't like muscled men?" Of course I do, but there's more to a guy than just muscles. But that's getting into something different and I'm not going to continue talking about that. But it wouldn't hurt to see a realistic male character for once. They don't need to be completely toned out of their minds that would take months probably years to obtain.

But the only reason that I can say why men are overly muscular and women are overly sexualized, it's just fantasy, and every developer in the fantasy industry always try to make everything exaggerated to the extreme, even if it's to a point where we're finding it disgusting.

I think he was trying to see how many of us are that stupid to fall for an obvious joke, since clearly he's already admitted that based on what he has read on this site, he thinks we're stupid. ("We" being used in general)

However, I must say, that's a great way to start off the new account. Make enemies not friends, that's always the right route to take! :bird:

The men need a serious fixing, I agree. So far in MKX it looks like they toned it down... But only just a little. I really do hope we get some non-Hulked-out male characters. Like if Takeda or Fox gets a spot, I want to seem them look a little more like they do in the comic.

Liu Kang was disgusting in MK9.
 
BOTH genders need serious fixing. I give Mileena a lot of shit for the fact that she both looks like a slut and acts like a slut; that's my rhetoric for calling her a slut, but she's supposed to be slutty, because the whole point of it is to draw attention away from what's underneath the mask, and lure unsuspecting men to certain death. SONYA being sexualized, on the other hand, is totally inexcusable! Her character is that of an heroic American soldier (or to be technical, a Marine, as her MK9 bio states). Sexualizing Sonya like that with shit such as high heels, exposed waistlines of thongs, cleavage is a completely disreputable presentation of a character who is supposed to be presented as a National Hero.

And as for the men, you KNOW you have a huge steroid problem when Liu Kang looks as chiseled as an Arnold Schwarzenegger or a Hulk Hugan.

Bruh, MK 2011 Liu Kang was a huge improvement over MK vs. DC Liu Kang, you gotta give em that much.

And Trash, the dude who's pic you posted injected himself with synthol, that's not real muscle, it's basically jelly injected into the man. Steroids do not make men look like that in any shape or form.
 
Well but at least MKX doesn't show any signs of that bullsh%t. Both female and male so far. Proportional bodies, no high heels (so far, D Vorra doesn't count), clothing designs are rich too.

I agree with Mr. Trash that Mileena is a slut. But I'd like to expand further on that- all women in this game must be sluts. Which is why I hate D'Vorah so much. A bug lady? The entire point of being a slut and dressing slutty in this game is so that the male fighters become disarmed- with that much blood flowing to their members they don't have enough in their brains to react quickly while fighting.

Mortal Kombat needs more realistic physiques. I agree that Liu Kang looked like a freak. We need realistic, muscular but agile bodies of athletes. Intimidating but sleek. Strong but nimble. Masculine. We need males that look like this:

Dude, if you're a male fighter going into battle you HAVE to look jacked and intimidating. I wouldn't bet on a saggy Woody Allen or average beer-bellied Joe winning against an Outworld ninja... and if you're a chick you GOTTA look like a slut, it's video game basics 101. Plus, jacked guys vs. slutty chicks, I mean this could make for an awesome GTA-styled easter egg.

Exactly.
The extremes on both sides in MK9, were ridiculous.

I'm glad that MKX has toned it down quite a bit, and actually made the bodies to different proportions as they should be.
Not every male has the same steroid body, and not every female has the same exact Barbie body either.

But yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to the men and women in MK having those bodies, pretty realistic for martial artists, however more clothing should be needed though.

And yes, the men should be ripped, and the women should be fit as well. I mean, this is about fighting after all, let's see some physicial aesthetics. I'm pretty sure Kitana does squats all day using tree trunks in her Edenian dojo, and Scorpion is definitely taking some sort of thermogenic + creatine mix for those veins.

I mean, that's what we had to look at for three straight games back in the 90s, and the fourth actually had some average looking characters. Johnny Cage in the original looked like he could hardly take on the thunder god. But he did.

Now we have over the top muscled freaks and strippers-in-training "fighters." I'm all for fantasy, but geeze.

Thank you for the correction- I try to be as culturally accomodating as possible to my fellow forum posters. What are your thoughts on an Indian character in MK? I know Quan Chi has Indian features and an Indian voice (although white), but we really need some guy modeled after Ganesh, or at least a Voodoo inspired guy. Also not opposed to an Islamic fighter, either. I know Mileena had some Arabic tones for a couple games but we really need a Middle Eastern styled fighter, male or female.

The biggest tip off was you being a resident of B-town. Basically the Bombay of Canada.

I mean, I did TaeKwonDo for 13 years and I was never "ripped," but I sure as hell was athletic, and I competed in quite a few state competitions.

I have no problem if 1 or 2 are ripped, but athletic (non-steroid) body types are more realistic for martial arts.
Look at Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in their younger days.
They had toned bodies and were in shape, but they sure as hell didn't look over-the-top MK9 ridiculous.
