Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

Thank you for the correction- I try to be as culturally accomodating as possible to my fellow forum posters. What are your thoughts on an Indian character in MK? I know Quan Chi has Indian features and an Indian voice (although white), but we really need some guy modeled after Ganesh, or at least a Voodoo inspired guy. Also not opposed to an Islamic fighter, either. I know Mileena had some Arabic tones for a couple games but we really need a Middle Eastern styled fighter, male or female.

The biggest tip off was you being a resident of B-town. Basically the Bombay of Canada.

Honestly I don't really concern for the background of the characters. To me, as long as they look cool, personality is cool, and fight cool, then I'm 100% behind the player. But it would be cool if there was a Sikh Warrior in MK, or anyone of Indian descent for that matter.

I mean, I did TaeKwonDo for 13 years and I was never "ripped," but I sure as hell was athletic, and I competed in quite a few state competitions.

I have no problem if 1 or 2 are ripped, but athletic (non-steroid) body types are more realistic for martial arts.
Look at Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in their younger days.
They had toned bodies and were in shape, but they sure as hell didn't look over-the-top MK9 ridiculous.

Arnold is mass- he was maybe 8-10% body fat and lifted for strength and aesthetics, not endurance or fighting.

This is a game, not realistic- a fantasy. You don't see movie actors and actresses with acne, stretch marks or cellulite. If you want reality, go to Mexico and see a street fight. How can you expect realistic outfits and average physiques in a game where people inflate their opponents' heads with respirator tubes? While you're at it, go root for the "fat is beautiful" movement and call overweight women in lingerie "real women".

I thought with the passage of laws that protect sexual minorities in this day and age we are past that. Who cares if they piss off a slim minority of feminists and asexual neckbeards? What's the point of making a game that doesn't take advantage of the market?

Also, women wearing little to battle is realistic. Even more so, they should oil themselves up. Why? The less clothing and the slipperier your skin, the harder it is for an opponent to grab you. Boon is obviously not on your side with MKX given that Cassie Cage looks like a normal military woman, D'Vorah looks normal and there are different male and female body types in MKX (Ferra), and the game is better for it.

There will most likely be some characters to your liking, but you need to accept that it won't be everyone on the roster. Doesn't matter if sex sells or not, Mortal Kombat isn't about sex, however, that doesn't mean there won't be characters who are sexualized. It just won't be all of them.

There's a time and a place for everything. If you want porn, there's TONS of porn to choose from all over the internet. If you want pornofied games, there are lots of others to choose from. I don't have a problem with fighters like Bo'Rai Cho. After all there was Ron Jeremy, right? Either way. Let's meet somewhere in the middle. There should be Goros, Bo'Rai Cho's, Ferra-Torrs, and Sheeva's. Not denying that. Every game needs freak shows and this is a fantasy based game. But for characters like Mileena, Tanya, Skarlet, Kitana, Jade- they are portrayed as agile, physically fit, and strong female fighters. So why not endow them with nice physiques, and outfits that show them off? It's practical. I mean, no need for high heels, but skimpy clothing, of course. If you were a chick fighting in a long flowy Asian-themed robe and tiara you know what would happen to you? Your opponent would grab your robe and toss you around with it. Boon realizes the practicality of the skimpy outfit.

Sonya is a military woman. So? The Israeli Defense Forces realize the power of sexuality and look at them- most effective fighting force in the world.

All I'm saying is. If a female fighter is meant to be young, strong and agile, give her that kind of body and show it off. A male meant to be strong and muscular? Go for it. I think Kano should be jacked and big, as well as Scorpion. But some characters like Kung Lao should be slimmer. Ain't nothing wrong with Ryan Reynolds.

Ugh man. Go do a google search of "fitness babes". ALL of them look like MK9 chick bodies. And that's realistic given that they are athletes. Fighter chicks should look like that. NetherRealm seems to bet getting more realistic with MKX, and I'm glad that it looks like none of what happened in MK9 will happen for MKX.

As it is, Sonya seems to already have a 100% improvement over the MK9 version, in the MKX comic.
