Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

http://mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Sonya_Blade

"Sonya has the power to fire and manipulate pink-colored energy, as well as gain temporary flight (or at the very least the ability to maneuver in air)"

It's a power, not technology.
Yes to fire and manipulate pink colored energy, just like i have the power to fire a gun. That is not exactly clear as to how she manipulates it. I see your point and i was wrong to say that it was the wristband, however where it is talked about its stated that she clangs her wristbands together to do it

What are you talking about? She's still there when you pick the lackey variation. How else would they do x-rays and fatalities?

My bad, she's seen in the background cheering him. Can you still call her a playable character? She's more like a weapon.

Well, as said, I'm not going to count her as one of the "female characters" for reason already stated. Feel free to disagree, but it's not going to change my mind.

The reason I would occasionally choose female characters over male ones, is usually because they appear to have a flexibility and lightness to them which makes fun to play as. This is why I liked to play as Chun Li back in the day for SF2. It could also be subconscious since female characters are usually slim, so it comes across as a lighter and flexible playstyle.

This, really. Tanya is the only female character I really want in MKX.
My main fave character, Jade, was awesome in MK9, and though I'd like to see in her in MKX, I understand she isn't one of the main priority characters and that she doesn't really need to return. However, MKX is the perfect opportunity for Tanya to return and be awesome!

I would also like to see Nitara and Sareena make a return, but they're not all that popular.
Mileena is an MK9 survivor and her story could evolve into some really interesting things which I'd like to see.
Kitana is popular enough to return from the dead as a playable character, and hopefully she will be part of Edenia's freedom in this new timeline.

But I would also love to see at least 1 more new female character. I quite like the 2 we already got, Cassie and D'Vorah (not counting Ferra as her own character).

Agreed. Jade is still my favorite secret character of all time. Noob Saibot is a close second. With the Brotherhood of Shadow being one of the clans you can play as online, though, I think it is fair to assume Tanya or Sareena are most definitely in it.

She's still a playable character. Ed Boon has said so himself.

Since the storyline spans 25 years, I could see Ferra "growing up" in the upcoming chapters or, if she is to be tiny forever, I could see them making her a stand alone with her own character slot. I wonder if that would cheapen the tag team gimmick, though.

You're not exactly being the beacon of enlightenment either.

There's no need to be a beacon of enlightenment in a thread that's a complete joke...
Rider only responds to certain comments and refuses to acknowledge ones like mine of the first page that call him out on his bs.
So why should we even take this thread seriously if op doesn't either?

"Not even half the characters have been announced yet but people are already complaining about a lack of female characters? -___-
It's safe to assume that we will get a similar number of female characters as MK9, there's nothing to complain about until suggested otherwise."
second chance rider.

I'm quoting you, but my message below is generally for everyone (just so you don't feel specifically targetted):

I am not defending the OP, however, there have already been brought up several good points in this thread that can be discussed. You choose to focus on one user and then calls the entire thread a joke. That is you ignoring everyone else who have actually brought something good to this thread.

Change your focus and be part of the discussion. If someone doesn't respond to you, move on to someone who will. You are part of this community and you can help adding something good and useful to it.

Doing as Phantom and making such a useless post is only adding to the stupidity. If you have something to add to the main topic discussion, please do so. Derailing the thread and calling people names will just put yourself in a bad light. And you choose to do so yourself. If there's a thread you think is "stupid", then simply avoid it and let those who do want to talk about the main topic of it do so.

So please, let's get back on topic.

The lackluster reveal of the woman Kombatants is a lil annoying yes but it doesn't mean there won't be a healthy # of females in the game. Personally when everything is finalized and i would AT LEAST like to see 1/3 of the roster to be female.

My Wishful thinking/hopefuls are:
Kira
Li Mei
Mileena
Nitara
Sareena
Tanya
That would make it 5 returning females and the rest can be new female kombatants depending if the final roster count is 30. 10 Females:20 Males

Replace Li Mei with Kitana, and I'm on board. I REALLY don't like Li Mei. Everyone else seems to like her though, so I can understand if she returns, but I hope NRS have kinda forgotten about her so she won't make it to MKX.

I don't mind Kitana, but I think Li Mei has potential thats why i put her in. And considering Kitana's situation, I wouldn't mind her sitting out this game...as a playable. if she gets a cameo of a mention in the story i'd be all for it.

I think Kitana is too popular to NOT put in MKX. She's been an important character since her first pixel was shown on the screen (and even before so as well). Leaving her out would be very odd, imo. Even in games she wasn't in, such as MK4 and MKD (though she was in the MK Gold and MK: Unchained versions), she still had an important role in the story. I wonder if NRS would, as you say, use her as a cameo in the story and NOT have her playable... it'd upset alot of fans though.

I'd rather have Sheeva in over Li Mei though, but again, that's just me. At least you didn't put Frost on the list. XD

Anyways, I do like your ratio of 1/3 of the roster be female. Hopefully they will soon reveal the next female character though. However, the more male characters they reveal before the next female character does rather make it seem like that the ratio of female characters in the game is lower than that. I can understand why some people are getting rather angsty about it, but as I've mentioned earlier in this thread, MK has always had a good ratio of female characters in their games, so I'm sure there will be more.

Which I must say, all of these people who are jumping to conclusions over dumb things are starting to look more hilarious as the days pass on. But I seriously hope he does answer you back.

I've seen people who immediately think that this Kung Lao reveal means we'll have no Fujin. D'norah having a similar move towards Mileena means she's not in. Kung Lao being resurrected means every dead character will be resurrected and playable.

It boggles my mind on how so many jump the gun and really, truly finds something to complain about when there's not even concrete evidence yet to be pissed about. We have no idea how many characters we're still going to get in this game and yet there's already people complaining about the lack of females? Sure it would be nice to see one female to be revealed, but I'm not sitting here, bashing my fingers into my keyboard in frustration that there's a lack of them.

This series has always been male dominant. If I wanted to be that kind of woman and protest over the equality of how females get treated, I'd become that kind of person. But I'm not going to, because I don't see a problem, mainly because there's still time to see more reveals, and there's more time to hear an official number of characters we'll be getting for this game.

Honestly, with how NRS usually represents women in these games, the less the better. It's less offensive that way. lol

As for the Ferra/Torr thing - It's a two in one package. One is a guy, the other a woman. Stick each one into the appropriate gender category. We've got three women and nine men so far.
