Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

I will never understand this mindset that gamers have. I figured men would want to see way more sexy females then half naked men.

I will also NEVER understand the idiotic concept of "I am a male, therefore I only want to play as male characters".
 
I want some new females but I really want kitana,milena,jade and skarlet to be in, especially jade, I feel like in mk9 she wasn't used at her full potential, her staff and her bladed boomerang are two great weapons, they can fo amazing things with her in mkx.

Neither do I. But this is always the reason I see as to why fighters always have more males than females.

I'm indifferent about it.
 
I'm down to play as chicks in other games. MK's females have never appealed to me. D'Vorah is the first one that has immediately interested me.


That said, I couldn't care less if we don't get any more females (We obviously will) because the guys of Mortal Kombat are much more interesting.

It's because we live in America where men are pushed to be more boy-ish. So, if they pick a girl character, that guy would be told: "Wow, you picked a girl! Damn, you're so gay dude." He would be viewed as girly, unless he verifies his manliness by stating he picked her for the boobs.

In Japan (and other places that don't push so much gender roles on people) for example, where men are less restricted, you see them playing more sexy females and whatnot. Hence, why there are so many games purely of female characters. Another example of this is Dead or Alive. More than half of the roster are sexy females.

On-topic: There's going to be more female characters. Literally in the recent magazine interview, they said they pride themselves with a higher female character ratio than other games. Not to mention all the horny peeps NRS has to appease.
 
Dead Or Alive has so many female characters because the developers know men like to see girls in skimpy outfits fight.
 
I'm a guy I don't identify as a woman so playing as a woman doesn't appeal to me as much as playing as another male would. I don't get the obsession that some fighting game fans have with female characters, I don't like beating up women and I don't really feel the need to play as one either. That doesn't mean I don't want female characters in games, hell I loved the last Tomb Raider but when it comes to fighters I just don't see the need for a roster that's nearly half female just to satisfy a vocal minority. As far as the people who try to make it sound like they want to see women just because they like women, has NRS ever really made a beautiful female character? and do you really get off on watching female video game characters? I also don't get the complaining about a lack of new characters, we don't even know half of the roster yet so what's with all of the complaining? It's already a fine line as it is because people have their favorites they want to see back in each game too.

theres nothing wrong with playing as females in games. it doesn't make you gay if you don't just play as them for the boobs. I'm a straight man and I have games like bloodrayne, bayonetta, tomb raider, resident evil 3, and other games where you can be females. the thought of labeling someone gay for picking a female in a game is just stupid. are females gay if they pick a male character? in games theres males and theres females. plain and simple.
 
If you're afraid to play as a female character because of what people think of you; you're insecure about your sexuality and are probably gay on the dl.
 
I think we will likely get around six or seven female fighters in the game. Who knows, maybe the next announced fighter will be a female. We're likely not going to know who's on the full roster until the demo is released. I can carless about if the game does not have enough female fighters. These type of sexist debates are always stupid with fan bases (Power Rangers comes to mind for me).
 
Plus all the sexist bros play COD and I dont even know, mainstream games. They can't handle MK. I have no problems playing as chicks, I just am never too impressed with them mostly because they're not really believable as a powerhouse and they just come off as a little whiney. I think Skarlet is the perfect female for this game because I really believe her and sheeva can mess a few people up. I will always hate Kitana and Sindel though.
 
If people don't want to count Ferra as a female character that's fine, but then don't say that out of 11 characters, only 2 are female, because Torr shouldn't count either. Let's just say that out of 11 characters, 2.5 are female, do you all agree?

I'm not a big fan of Mortal Kombat's female characters but Sonya Blade was always badass in my opinion, so i would welcome her with open arms if she is to return. The 2 new female characters are very good too, so there's that. And i'm sure we'll have enough females by the time the game comes out.

That's such a silly thing to say, I am gay and I have no problem admitting it but I'm still a man and I would rather play as a male character if I have the choice. I don't avoid playing as female characters in fighting games because of insecurity it's just not my thing.

I will play as a female character if they are good enough but it seems that they use all the best movesets on the males. I mean with sonya, that arc kick is a good more but have you ever thought about how stupid it is? Everyone can teleport or use mysgical powers, even jax has metal arms. She has a wristband and a physically impossible kick
