Official TRMK Tier Rankings: YOU Vote!

I seriously want Jax to be a good character, I really do. But I'm speaking honestly here, I think he's the third worst character in the game at the moment. Sure he could win, he's not TERRIBLE, but he has to work soooo much harder than other characters to get wins against skilled opponents that know what he's trying to setup.

He's not my favorite character of all-time, but his fighting style could be really fun. I'm not hoping for an MKII-level Jax, lol, but I would love to see him climb out of the basement. I've messed around with him a bit, but could never get passed the fact that he has to fight so damn many uphill battles. I could really try him out anyway and hope for a buff, but I already have some characters that I love to play as and don't struggle so much. Sad puppies.

Jax is a good rush down character who can keep pressure on the opponent with his short combos, dash punch and even ground pound cancels.
The bad things: He has no combo potential. The only mid screen combo that passes 30% requires at least 1 bar of the meter. Jax will make you BUILD meter, not spend it, for the reason Circus said.
He doesn't deal well against zoners; his ground pounds have a slow start up so they can be predicted and avoided easily. He can use his EX dash punch, but it's 1 wasted bar and also, doesn't cover the whole screen.
His anti air gotcha grab, despite being meant as an anti-air, is not good for this. It's not fast, so most of the time the player won't be able to catch his opponent on reaction and will eat a full combo.
His x-ray can be surprisingly umpredictable, but he cannot link a combo to x-ray. Also, he needs to be close to use it, and probably he will have already spent a bar of the meter to do this.

Jax=6

I don't agree with the criticism against Jax's x-ray. Even though it cannot be linked into a combo, the damage is insanely high if you actually manage to do it. I do understand these low ratings, but maybe because I have been playing against some really good Jax players online, I was more aware of his potential. NRS should buff Jax a bit in terms of combo damage IMO.

They can nerf the damage on Ground Pound, but in exchange, they need to buff on the startup speed of the special so his Ground Pound can be a bit hard to evade.

Nerf his combo damage? He can't reach 30% without using meter, what makes you think his combos need to be nerfed?

His x-ray gets me everytime because I'm expecting the ones damage you instead of grab

This is the problem.
Like I said, you must manage you get close to your opponent and if you are facing a good zoner, you will not be able to do it without spending one bar of the meter, meaning you will not be able to do your X-Ray.

More like buff, eh? That's what you thinking, right 3mag5num7? Jax's suppose to be an all power-type fighter.

Yeah. He would need to be buffed carefully though. A good Jax player has a lot of tricks they can throw out to get them damage, if all the sudden Jax had 30-40% bnbs to go with those shenanigans, he'd be too beastly I think. He needs some serious tweaks to balance him properly.

I have no vote, but I will say this...I have an extremely hard time with Jax...everytime. Once he gets going he's hard to stop...or maybe I'm just missing somethiing and not punishing accordingly, although I doubt that is the case...then again that could be the case. lol
