Official Online Lag Discussion Thread ~ Please do not make anymore threads

I played a few 1v1 Player Matches yesterday and today. I had a few laggy matches, but most of mine were decent enough to the point I was able to land some combos. I'll wait for the patch before I try Ranked Match though.

I'm sure this is posted, but you guys did see John Edwards interview during the tournament on JTV today right? He said they've fixed a lot of the lag issues back at NRS and are preparing the patch as we speak.

Jesus the lag is horrible. It's made it even more jarring after all this PSN downtime when I'd go into practice mode, it's like playing a whole different game. This is a King of Fighters XII-esque disaster online :|

Re: upcoming patch and balancing/the testers must have been all male and really high

1 v 1 matches work great for me!

KOH is really really bad though....

Yeah, 1v1 matches ran so smoothly for me but KOTH got laggy as hell after a few rounds.

So I'm really glad PSN is back up and I played my first few online games last night (played till morning). I entered Chat Room Outworld and fought about 48 Tag Battles and lost 5. My Smoke is killing everyone but does anyone know when the patch is coming through? It's so bothersome.

Freaking Smoke... everytime someone would get destroyed by my Kung Lao they'd go Smoke the next match and spam the teleport and smoke bomb.

NOW, I understand why some characters are better online than others. If timing isn't much required, your character will have an advantage.
I did respond to a Smoke teleport and bomb spammer by selecting Nightwolf and shoulder charge like crazy the whole match.

I can confirm that even if gameplay is somewhat smooth online, the game still REQUIRES it to be top notch lag free so that every character as an equal advantage.

I hope the next patch comes pretty soon and that it makes online play more than just a "taste of what offline gameplay actually is".

I have to say that, being an MK9 owner for PS3, I had no idea how bad the lag really was. The past month, I have read the complaints of online from the 360 users and had NO IDEA it was this bad at all. This is far worse than I imagined.....and it sucks because I have had great matches against fellow TRMK members and then the stupid shit would disconnect. Had a good match against violence and then it kicked him out of KOTH. It's ********.

Had a bunch of amazing 1v1 matches against AMES32 and if the game stays as smooth as those matches were, online is going to be awesome. Those were super fast paced matches, the best I have played all day.

I tried to join a few of your KOTH games and everytime I tried it would give me 'the game session is no longer available' message so after about 3 tries I went to 1v1s.

When MK9 dropped on April. 19 I was very happy with online. It really did feel as if I was playing offline. But now since PSN is back up even the best connection had a little delay time.

I can always tell when it takes a second longer for the announcer to say "FIGHT!" lol

Do you have the 1-1.5 seconds input delay like me??
I blok but when the character moves his damn arms the projectile had already hit me...

EDIT: OK now I searched, i though lag was when the match skipped frames, but actually is the delay, glad im not the only one that blocks but gets hit anyway due to it lol

The online is unplayable right now. Nothing works... it's just a lagfest.

Anything that requires timing to work is just impossible to do. Juggles, breakers, high-lows, throw breaks... simple BLOCKING. It's just annoying. You can see the teleport or the throw a mile away but you can't do shit about it.

ive started playing it online on ps3, its not that bad there is lag but you can still have a decent match, but not pull of insane combos

The lag isn't that bad for me and really only lags when I'm doing a fatality or X-Ray attack or something.

I can't believe how broken this is. I can't play KOTH because it just says searching for opponent and never finds anything, can't do ranked matches for the same reason. The only way i can play online is by joining a chat room and challenging players. My record is completely wrong (says I'm 3-4 when I've played at least 30 matches) and the lag is awful. NRS has no buisness making an online game because obviously they have no idea how.

I've played a few matches online with PSN. I have not played any TRMK members and have just stuck to 1on1. The lag isn't even worth adjusting to at this state. Idk if PSN's high traffic has a role in this or not. Not being able to throw break or even do combo juggles is just horrible even on a fiber 50/50 connection with another player.

Can't say any of my matches were that great at all. Just poor Scorpions so far that are use to the lag.

Hopefully the patch comes soon, with the exception of one or two matches, I have yet to play in a KOTH game without horrible lag and constant disconnects.

The lag is the only thing keeping this game from being perfect, hopefully they can eliminate it.

One of the main reasons I bought this game was for the online play...PSN went out the day I got the game, now it's back up but online play isn't even fun due to all the lag. Has NRS even made a statement about this? Seems like everyone's complaining, they should at least make a comment, tell us about an upcoming patch, something!
