Mortal Kombat: It's a mind game.

Okay, so, look.

I grew up playing MK in the arcades as a kid. Since it first came out, not much has changed. New characters (good and bad) and the graphics are heaps better. But the best, and, also the worst, is the near on absolute psychotic rage that this game can bring about.

Back in the 90's, when I was 'round 10 playing MK in the arcades. I seriously used to love beating people, not so much for the pride in victory, but just so I could see them flip out. Then I got Sega Mastersystem and brought Mortal Kombat home, and I no shit, lost count of the amount of physical fights my brothers and I had because of this game. Not to mention broken controllers & shit. And I kid you not, 20 years hence, and Mortal Kombat hasn't changed in that regard. Pretty much all that's changed is graphics and characters. It still has this innate ability to bring out peoples inner cro magnon. Seriously.

Was just talking to one of my room house mates, and he agree's. All it take's is one too many losses in Mortal Kombat and people turn into the Hulk. It's great.

For instance; mid-game comments like "I'm going to f**in' stomp Sonya's ovaries mate!" to "Okay, then, di**-head, put $50 on it. Best out of 3, 3 round fights, no time limit!", "Dude, of course you're gonna go Johnny f**kin' Cage. He's Mortal Kombats gay icon. YAHTZEE!".

I've seen one of my mates, who's been to jail, sitting next to my other mate who's an MMA fighter, both of whom are leaning forward, transfixed, with a look of grim intent and 110% focus on beating each other in Mortal Kombat, while simultaneously, and constantly talking shit to each other the whole time.

I don't see that kinda shit with Street Fighter.

Mortal Kombat for the win!

I love competition and shit talking when playing with friends, but it's mad funny to see them rage when they lose.

I'm a humble guy so if I beat anybody who's trying too hard I just crack a smile whenever they get mad

I see that shit in street fighter all the time. The Mk... scratch that Mk9 community are the sole reason I stopped playing Mk9. its by far the saltiest and worst community i've been in. (not you trmkers). people call zoning spamming. spamming doesn't exist in FG gameplay. I'm not sure if it is the game that makes people salty or that it was brought by a whole load of oversensitive scrubs who've never played a fighting game but expect to be Konqrr in a week.

Yeah, I'm humble too for the most part. But one of my house mates has serious need for attention. Seriously. No shit. Whatever he's doing, he's gotta be the best, gotta be center stage, has to be the best at everything. From his car, to the way he does dishes dude.

I came home the other day & he had MK on, showing a few other mates how goddamned awesome he was with Cyber Sub Zero (spamming the shit out of them). They'd never played before, so didn't put up much/any competition. I just made some food, sat down, drank a beer, talked shit & so on. Then the reigning champion asked me if I wanted a shot at the title (on my own game), with the winner getting a free carton of Corona.

The challenge: (him) Cyber Sub Zero, vs, Sub Zero (me, in my mk1 outfit) - 3, 3 round fights, no time limit.
The Winner: Sub Zero (mk1 outfit) won by 9 consecutive rounds. After which my house mate had to leave without buying me my caronas. He had to go pick his girlfriend up from work. The whole time he was defending "his title", and while he walked out to the car, he was being heckled by the spectators in the lounge-room.

I'd made my point. This is a Sub Zero house.

As for salty losers. Meh. Let 'em be salty. I kinda like rubbing some extra salt in when ever possible ... as long as I win.

The MK9 community is the main reason why I'm moving on to UMVC3.. Tired of someone pulling their cord or dashboarding because they can't take a loss or either send ignorant responses in hate mail <_<

Am I the only one who thinks Rage Quitting is hilarious?
Like to beat someone and they rage quit

At first it was funny, then after a while I just want to play the game without adding a disconnect to my record :|

Edit: What's up with quote button? It doesn't box the original quote anymore, and it merges my post with the person I'm responding to./

you got a point but i quit in advance when i someone i fought was flipping shit just because they missed me with there x ray that he seemed so desperate to pull off mind you im a smoke player and i was making full use of his teleport moves and shake since the dude abused baraka's spark so after i won i literally had gotten like 7 hate mail until i sent something back and this was my twentieth match which is the sad part so yeah i only play with actual freinds and family at home now

Hmm I don't really play UMvC3 all that much but I imagine you'll get quite a bit of hatemail. No game has ever made me so salty. I'm a very calm person but damn I get all out of character when I play marvel.

There's nothing wrong with being salty, but to ragequit out of saltiness shows that you can't compete and expect to win everytime you play. It's super rare to find a person on MK9 who sends a GG after a match outside of TRMK. I send GGs to almost everyone I play and half of the time they either don't reply or send something stupid like Spammer noob, when they just used risky tactics the entire game and I punished them.

Mortal Kombat (when you're losing) is a very frustrating and rage inducing game. It has been ever since it came out. You have the ability to beat people up, then brutally kill them or turn them into crying babies (in and out of the game). Just to annoy the loser a bit more.

I LOVE Mortal Kombat. It's an awesome game to play with my mates. Unless I'm losing. It's just awesome to frustrate and embarrass someone in Mortal Kombat, especially with people watching. Single player can be IMMENSELY frustrating, especially on hard/expert ... Shao Khan, dude. The guy is quite obviously a homo gladiator. I hate him. Single player is just my way to train for when I compete against my mates. I would see online multiplayer in the same light, but against a human, instead of a hard/expert AI.

I prefer to play MK with people around, music on and beer = awesome. Nothing beat's using Sub Zero to annoy, antagonize, embarrass and effectively turn a happy friend to the dark-side and instill an utter hatred for blue-ninjas. But maybe that's just me.
