Mortal Kombat HD

I'm still excited for the Kollection coming out, but man, I can't understand how NRS went this far with this and stopped in favor of re doing ports, I really hope they through some miracle finish this for MKs 20th anniversary,I'd love to see how Sub Zero looked in this. In a perfect world.....
 
You know, I keep hearing about how this game got cancelled. Supposedly its because all the refilming of the actors, game play changes in terms of making it HD, etc, etc......changed the game SO MUCH, that it was not worth releasing. I dont know much about vid-game programming, but seriously? Does anyone buy that?

People with so much talent to do this for a living, who just released a brand new MK thats great?

A game thats almost 20 years old?

An they couldnt make it work with new actors and such to have it play just like the old one?

Last time I checked the last MK that was released took wayyyyyyyy longer and took tons of different teams to complete this game. Ed Boon said himself that the first game took around a year and was literally 4 people to complete in terms of programming, artists and all. Clearly it was not THAT difficult.

Could be wrong though.

Anyone heard anything else?

I doubt this is the case. I figure they postponed it realizing how easy it is to sell the same game over and over again with the MK fever so many have now. Its like Pokemon. MKII red, blue, green, white, silver, ... gotta catch 'em all. Lol

has anyone read John Montenegro test before? he clearly states these are mockups, not in game screens. everyones blown this out of proportion. Look at where the test Your might bars are and the jax sprite. he says there mock ups sent for pre production.
 
I don't think we're completely lost right now on a MK HD. I still think sometime down the road NRS will pic it up.
 
I guarantee the HD Collection comes out at some point. NRS/WB are simply holding off on it, so they can make some cash for the 20th Anniversary.

What we're getting this year is just to tide us over, and familiarize new fans with it, so they can put the HD version on the market in a profitable manner.

It's all about the dollar dollar bill here.

Some one at test your might keeps swearing up and down they've seen more then what we've seen because they know someone on the inside and all that. Plus hes the same guy that claims its the 100% truth that the game IS cancelled and it was because it would'nt play the same as the old games......I find all that hard to believe
 
I wanted this so bad. And they couldn't do it because they couldn't change the level backrounds? I think I'm going to cry. ;-;
 
I also am at least a little skeptical about the "it wouldn't play the same" claim. I doubt their hitboxes where per pixel or anything. As long as the HD sprites are roughly the same shape it should work I would think.

Now, differences in look with the new actors I could understand. I mean.. I looked at those mockups and they look very different. It's kind of not the same without people like Richard Divizio as Kano and things like that.

I'm also not sure I liked the new fonts for the endings\bios and such. I think that impact looking font looks a bit too clean to be honest. What I mean is it could use some cracks\stoney detail on it. It looks fine but yeah. Actually looking at the originals they didn't use impact on them... they used a more cartoony font so I guess it's an improvement either way.

But yeah I would think the changes would all be cosmetic. I kind of wonder though why they went through the trouble of casting actors and digitizing them just for mockups for a never to be released kollection
