Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I thought the voices sounded pretty good. I have only heard the ones used in the videos interloko posted, but I think they sounded fine.
To me it sounds like the guy is yawning, and the voice seems pretty unremarkable. The guy's voice has no bass to it, and it's not something an equalizer can fix.

@arq_hawkin, good work on the animation. Now my usual comments:

- Firstly, did you see my suggestion here about Kang's shoulders?
- His legs are far too short. The height of the torso should probably be less than half of the legs' height and it's closer to 1:1.5 in yours. That will probably eliminate the need to reduce the feet as I had suggested before.
MK1_Liu_Kang_Walk_Forward.gif

- His head should be bigger and the neck shorter. No negative space under the chin.
- He should be leaning forward more.
- It seems like your animation is limping a bit. Like his left foot goes forward too fast and it wobbles a bit right after it touches the floor. Also, when his right foot steps, his whole body reaches higher than when his left foot does. Try to visually follow the vertical position of his head and shoulders around your animation's cycle.
- His left upper arm should be much closer to his body.
- His pants should reach further down. No skin is visible between the pants and the shoes.
- When the left foot steps forward, it should go down heel first with the point pointing a bit up, and not point first.
- During the walking animation, the thumb position is OK, but the index finger should be almost straight and the curvature increases gradually through the other three fingers. Also, his right thumb is hidden behind the hand.

EDIT: This is what comes out of trying to match the waist-shoulder distance. Hope it helps.

I would just like to point out the fact that the announcer in MK1 was not Ed Boon. Boon only did Scorpion and some of the screams and grunting I believe.
The original announcer was John Tobias as he said it himself (On Blast Show) though his voice is unrecognizable due to heavy filtering and distortion in post production.
Pinball legend Steve "The King of Flow" Ritchie wasn't in the picture untill MK2, at least not as the voice. He did however came up with the original name "Mortal Kombat".

I'm busy finishing some work over here, not of this project. I'm trying to hurry and get back on this but can't at the moment.

Keep going though, it's looking good. About the walk animation, it's ok to not match the leg animation perfectly. I ran in to this problem with Scorpion and Sub-Zero, if I match it exactly it looks like their feet are sliding. It's better to get the upper body looking pretty close, but animate the legs to look good in the animation.

You might take a screen shot of mame at the starting pose, then hold forward for one walk loop. Take a screen shot, and use the distance traveled as a ruler in your 3D program. You can then animate the feet to work with that information.

Now, wait, I'm like 100% sure that it was Ed Boon who was the announcer in MK1. In fact, I think this used to be common knowledge.

I remember that Total-MK posted a video where he was interviewing Ed (about MK9), asked him to say "Finish Him!" for old times' sake, and Ed sounded pretty much exactly the same as he did during MK1. The video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PTEYc0QJrU&t=395s

Steve Ritchie was MKII/MK3. Herman Sanchez was MK4/MKDA/MKD/MKA. I don't know who it was in MKSM or MK9 offhand.

Here's a mockup of what LK could end up looking like.
Don't pay attention to the face. I just slapped that one together and didn't bother at all.

LKcomp_zpsaa9aac0e.gif

Changes:
- Larger head
- Overall posture of back, head and shoulders
- Hairstyle (higher, more compact, shinier)
- Thinner arms, smaller shoulders, elbows closer to body
- Longer legs
- Pants less saggy. Pants don't look like they're blown up. They only get thinner from the thigh down, and get quite tight from the knee down.
- Pants like 3 cm higher in the back.
- Changed position of fingers in the left hand.

Its ok that its taking along time... We want it to be the best it can be, and that takes patients. As long as it keeps moving forward this tunnel will come to end. Then MK1 will Stomp the ground again. New career's might become present for these boys. Everybody is watching and you guys are in the spot light!!!!

here we go again, I fixed the things uker said, thinner arms, smaller shoulders, longer legs, smoother animation, taller hair, more natural animation.

sorry uker but I won't be able to match a 100% the original sprites, I'll try to match it as close as possible, about the size of the shoes, I remember I said some pages back, that I won't try to change it since it can make a mess on rigging and skinning.

It's amazing discovering this thread of such talented artists, working together to recreate the old classic Mortal Kombat into the fresh three- dimensional video game world, I hope I'll be able to learn such art next year, and hope the best for all of you in completing this.

What will be your next Liu Kang animation?

and haven't seen an update from Bleed in a while what will be the next Cage animation.

I don't intend you to get to a carbon copy of the original frames. I know that's not viable.
I'm just trying to iron out things that are just too evident and make the figure have a totally different look.
About the shoes, last time I said if you corrected the other proportions the shoes' size would probably be OK.

There's a definite improvement in the animation and posture.
That said, I don't see the length of his legs getting much better, or his head being any bigger, and his left elbow is still way too far from his body.

Here's a comparison with your new version.

LKcomp_zps5bd983d1.gif

His shoulders are still too wide. Look at his right shoulder in the comparison.
Also his left shoulder should be much higher. Notice the top of the both shoulders are almost aligned with each other in the original.

EDIT: Also the pants are still WAY too puffy. Here's a reference for what they probably should look like.

About the hair, you seem to have styled it like this

when it's supposed to look like this (minus the headband)

That's mk2 uker, liu's hair is shorter in mk2, and about the hair style!!! My liu model doesn't have that hair style you piste in the first picture

I do agree that Liu's hair should have a more "combed" appearance. As it is now, Liu's hair is looking too wild (especially in the back of the head). I know that hair is especially difficult to model, you might want to post a bald Liu and see if someone else can take a crack at it. I know Bleed had a few misses with Cage's hair in the beginning but now it looks perfect, and I think he might be able to do the same for your Liu.

hello arq_hawkin, I like animation, just correct the movement of the back leg should move straight, and not make a curve. Greetings
