Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

If Bleed finds time maybe he can help you. Touch his face a bit and get the likeness closer to Pak. He nailed Pesina right on the head.

Ok, prepare for some hilarity. I decided I would try to get the ball rolling with some voice over attempts. I'm curious to see what you guys think. haha

OMG haha ..... best to use the original voices lol
what is worth remembering that MK1 was based on B movies like "BIG THROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA and horror movies lol: D ..... mater the quality of the original is the key, it's like the old saying: " no snooping in team that is winning "....... and JS: continue with their remasters the music themes for each scenario, as are awesome!!

I guess it's best to use the original sprites then too. Can't snoop a winning team, after all. ;)

And thanks for the kind words about the music. I'm taking a short break from the themes, but I'll have more before too long.

@Rene Dragus, not bad man. That's a pretty decent Asian-y accent. It was always hard for me to tell how thick the announcer's accent was supposed to be. Well done, though.

@la_luna, I think this sounds pretty promising. I'll let the others chime in, but I think you got pretty close!

Everyone should keep in mind that anything submitted can be cleaned up and "polished," so try not to listen too much to the recording quality, and just focus on the performance.

Well done, guys! :)

Justin in my opinion you got the closest to elements of the announcers voice. You pretty much nailed elements of Lui Kang as well.

The first 3 announcer voices that play aren't great. The 4th one sounds very close because you've imitated the slight digital delay (echo) of the voice.

Raiden needs work.

Scorpion doesn't sound right at all. As Bleed said, not angry enough. You have to hold the "Heerrrreee" on "Come Here" for one thing.

Upper Cut and Pit Fall Screams are pretty good

I like La Luna's announcer voice as well but I think I need to listen to the original vs. what is being said to hear how accurate it is.

Just listened more to Rene Dragus version of the announcer:

Some of the announcement have the same voice deepness and I wonder if combined with Justin's digital delay if they wouldn't sound spot on.

The only issue I see with your announcements is that you are pronouncing "L" iu Kang as "Iu" Kang. Not sure what your native language is but I'm hearing that part of your accent come through.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can succesfully pull off Raiden's stuff. hahaha That shit is crazy.

Here's a reference for the MK1 Announcer for anyone else wanting to try their hand at it. I'll do some editing on the submitted voices and make some A/B comparison clips.

One thing I'd like to add is that anyone who wants to do some voices, make sure you aren't "clipping" when you record. This simply means that you are recording a signal too loud and overloading the channel. This is one thing that really can't be fixed. I noticed that Rene Dragus's file did this a time or two, so just try to be careful.

You can usually tell if you are clipping by looking at whatever program you are using to record. It will almost always have a gauge that looks something like this:

2dky73c.jpg

As you can see, the signal is going all the way up to the max amount, or "in the red." You don't want this. If this happens, turn down your signal volume a bit. Usually, about 3/4 the way up the gauge is a good volume. I realize many of you know this, but I just don't want to see a good performance lost because of clipping. Hope this helps! :)

EDIT: Here's a quick edit I did of Rene Dragus's "Scorpion" with a comparison to the original. I like to hear another take with a bit more focus on enunciation and perhaps recorded a bit further from the mic, but it's not too bad.

fellas, you will always have thieves and people that will steal things off you, and thats a teams effort and claim it as their own...

case in point, indrid cold i believe....

way back when i was around, and bleed as well as interloko can tell you about him, he would take anything he could get his hands on and steal it, so what we did was take his shitty lost secrets mk2 game, and completely redid it as close to the original mk2 game we could while adding the 3 secret characters as playable...

the intro sequence i did took a long time, and if i could have staged the fights in between character intros "back then you couldn't do that with mugen" then it would have been spot on, the graphics were spot on and in most cases cleaner and crisper than the arcade..... especially with the ending credits and the intro storyline etc...

but as with anything indrid, the game was buggy as hell, and if it weren't for bleed letting us use some of his characters back then, it would have been a utter fail....

later on a new mugen came out allowing things unseen before, as well as the possibilities for correct screen dimensions, 400x254 if i am not mistaken...

once juano16 started making his characters, he made a game that did quite well, and then i believe interloko did one bu himself that was spot on as well....

i am simply amazed at what i am seeing done here, the use of 3d modeled characters wasn't even a consideration 4 years ago, not even a thought really i don't think with the mugen engie we had to use back then....

things have defanantly came along over the past years, thats for certain.. i'd love to be involved in mk2 somehow, but i just don't think i could muster anything even close to what you guys have in even just 1 poitrait on the character select screen...

i wish i still had all that mk2 original scores from the cd and sounds i ripped... i will try nd find it if i can so you guys can have it for the future games if ya do mk2... man it's been a while...

anyway, sorry to interrupt, just thought i'd share that story about indrid is all..

sorry

There is a line in your version where you first announce Subzero. That sounded pretty good Justin. The others sound a bit forced.
Dragus is close sorta but I think the deepness in the voice is missing.

The announcer voice in MK1 was very distinct. I keep seeing people talk about a deep voice, but Shang Tsung's voice was not deep like Shao Kahn's voice.

Also, if you are going for accuracy, listen carefully to the inflection. "Sub-Zero" the best way I can describe is this way

SUB...... (loud and the highest pitch, also a pause after the word)
_______zeh (lower pitch)
___________low (lowest pitch

It also sounds like he's saying sub "zelo"

Scorpion has a unique sound as well.

sss COR
_______pion

I hope this made sense. Maybe I'll give the voices a go if I get some time.

Justin: Personally I really like your Raiden and Liu Kang voices.
Rene: Your announcing sounds really good imo.

I'll try to have some Sonya clips up by the weekend.

Thanks everyone for your advice :) I'll try harder next time.
I'll try to supress my accent even more and pronunciate better while listening carefully to the inflections.

I didn't have much time to record today so here's just a few more sounds.

Johny Cage, Wins, Danger laugh, Fight, Flawless victory, Excellent

About the clipping, I think it might be my mic or something in the settings. I was one room away when doing this one.

Holycrap...OK I just received an email from Psylense7683 who is having trouble accessing this web site. Are my ears deceiving me? This sounds almost exactly the same to me. Ladies and Gentleman, I think we've got our MKHD voice announcer...

Here is my try at the Announcer... I sent it to Justin as well. I'm not able to post on this forum, I think its due to me logging in with the facebook option. I also played my announcer test with the Character Select theme Justin created, it sounded pretty decent... I just might need to tweak my echo and reverb down a tad.
