MKX Story Trailer (CST 8:00 02/27)

Because it's an easy way to separate past and present Raiden, and could be considered a reference to the costume he wore in MK4 during the "previous" Netherrealm War. It's not like Sub-Zero's alt means they've travelled back in time to MK3.

Agreed.
Like Goddess said on FB, I also agree with this being a flashback with Raiden, Sonya and Johnny trapping Quan Chi inside the amulet, with Johnny being the new champion.

Anyone else notice NO Johnny, Sonya or Jax in the future parts of the trailer?
All dead? :-D

Just because they aren't there doesn't mean they are dead.
You really see everything in black and white, don't you?

A character can be alive and NOT be in the game.
Just like a character can be dead and still BE in the game.

Yes, but Sub Zero's recently revealed costume doesn't look exactly like his MK3's costume. Raiden's does. And he's in the same situation that he would have been before when he previously defeated Shinnok.

Remember this is the new timeline, Raiden didn't wear that outfit in MK1 according to MK9. While he may have wore that when they banished Shinnok the first time we don't see that. Hell NRS may have just taken the easy way out and gave him a simple costume. His MK4 was just a white suit with the blue and gold vest similar to what he has now minus the little details.

Agreed, but Sonya and Johnny weren't there originally when Raiden first trapped Shinnok.
I think that took place thousands of years ago.
I think that Raiden shown in that part is supposed to be MK9 Raiden (as in MK1 thru UMK3 Raiden).

Not really, because he imprisoned Shinnok in the Netherrealm the last time, not his amulet. MK9 made it pretty clear Shinnok was in the Netherrealm and not Quan Chi's belt.

And he's really not in the same situation because Johnny and Sonya are both there.

Which is exactly why I think it's some sorta time travel/ flashback thing. Plus, Raiden speaking about the amulet as if he's dealt with it before and has not seen it since makes me think that.

We'll see, buddy. I'm just glad we all have something real to speculate on now haha

From a design standpoint, that MK1 outfit for Raiden looks so damn ugly next to all the super intricate and detailed outfits of the other characters lol that scene just looks so goofy

Because he used it to imprison Shinnok 25 years before the main story and hasn't seen it since. You'd have a point if he was talking to Johnny and Sonya about it, but he's talking to the kids.

Exxxxactly! Which is why I think what I think! Older more primitive clothing for a flashback makes sense!

Good point. I still believe it was a flashback, but I cannot wait to find out what really happened. Agh 6 weeks could not go by fast enough!!!

That's how I felt about the palette-swap classic ninja costumes in MK9.

I don't think this way. I think MK1 costumes fit very well in a tournament.

May not fit on that occasion, but IMO they were cool.

And this Raiden is possibly the most accurate Raiden ever.

Look at his picture on MK1 and for this one, specially the alternate we saw today. Looks like sculpted from the original.

Agreed on 'most accurate' Raiden ever. He looks just like his MK1 version.

I just think they're using an old costume to signify an older time in the storyline.

You're absolutely right.
kaeleon It's not Rain because as you can see above, he just died.

Bllake maybe he joined the fight after? Or maybe it wa two different moments? idk. and he got a completely new costume. it could mean something.

We can see takeda and kung jin in gameplay scenes, so they are completely confirmed...
That means there only rest 3 spots and all the rest would be npc right?
If Mileena is the final boss she could be unplayable, if not she's totally in
Erron and Jacqui hold great chances, but it was supposed jhony too, so, maybe it's more than 5, but they didn't count well the chars who only made a little apparition like Sonya or rain...

dp spandisk parafan Jacqui is also in gameplay, there's a part of her x-ray move. and i don't think mileena is the final boss. so i think she's tottaly in too.

Just wanted to quote you here so I could say that your new signature is awesome!

Hahahah thanks man!! I'm saving the amulet spot for Shinnok/Reiko! Kano would apply too, but I'm waiting for a better shot of Shinnok, he was looking very bad (not the design, which is awesome, but it was shown the exact moment he was being beaten)
