MK11's new hero (protagonist)?

How is Taven boring and other characters are not? He is an semi-immortal god who has witnessed the rise and dawn of the Edenian civilization. Imagine just how many things happened during his time: Gods among men at the court of Edenia, as Fujin and Raiden were friends of his family; Shao Kahn beggining his attack; The Edenian defenses lead by Argus and King Jerrod....

No personality?
I can easily remember about Taven that he is arrogant. And sarcastic. That's 2 traits off the top of my head.
What personality do other characters have? I love them all, but we have no idea how Fujin is as a person/god. How do you characterize him? Serious? Yeah, maybe. Honourable? Ok , that's 2 atributes, but honourable are all the good guys, so I'm stretching it.
What personality does Smoke have? Ummm... loyal? That's about all we know of him. Kabal? Ummm... Stryker??? Nothing.

So Taven is really well portrayed. Arrogant, cinical, with leader qualities/ someone the masses will follow, justice protector but not stupid as he realizes Shujinko's inocence and frees him from the dungeon, loyal to the Elder Gods (and being loyal to Shinnok does not equal being stupid; Shinnok was known as the Elder God who helped mortals). You're just upset cause Taven got a big part when you were expecting Liu Kang, Shujinko, Scorpion or Raiden to be the main character.
 
I agree about Taven. I'd love to see him in MK XI, and he was on the list of characters I did for an MK XI roster. With Daegon possibly dead (according to Kenshi and Takeda's endings) there's no reason a revamped/improved Taven can't be a major character in the next game. I'd definitely be up for that.

And of course we need Rain!

Or make Rain the greatest threat in MK XI by enhancing his godhood through sorcery and have Daegon and Taven forced to team up to stop him :)
 
Let's be honest, Taven and Daegon were lame AF and will never be seen again aside from referenced in endings or maybe little tidbits in the Krypt. They debuted in a game that fans were more excited about their favs returning rather than two half-assed new characters. Can you really imagine Taven being a hero in the next game because I couldn't? He has been forgotten. I can't imagine characters like Taven, Daegon, Dragon King or Shujinko having any real relevance in any future MK game
 
I can see it being Fujin, Shujinko or Noob Saibot. I think we might see all three in some form. Although, some of the endings suggest Shujinko dies. Fujin's and Noob's destiny is uncertain as well, so...

Cassie will definitely play a role, but she's not going to be a hero twice in a row. They made her the hero only to make us care more about the new guys and establish them. We all know that.

I could see it being also Mileena. They could bring back a clone with a different mindset.

But I think Fujin or Shujinko make the most sense.

Fujin VS Raiden + Kitana/Liu Kang.

or

Shujinko VS Shang Tsung.

or...

Fujin + Raiden + Shang Tsung VS Havik + Kitana/Liu Kang.
 
Taven was not lamer than Cassie.

Cassie is the lamest protagonist ever.

Even lamer than Shujinko.

I usually like all MK characters, but MKX made me hate this Miley Cyrus clone. And worst of all, it ruined 2 great characters for me: Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. I used to love these characters in my childhood, just look at how they looked/acted in MK 4. They were young, beautiful, dependant on Raiden...

Now Johnny Cage smart talks even to Quan Chi! What? He should swallow his words. And Sonya kicks his balls...

This is why primary protagonist roles should be reserved for established veterans. Which is the whole reason it should be Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

That to me sounds like a VERY LAZY excuse of someone who doesn't seem to think beyond an extremely simplistic approach to what a character can become. Which character, from MK4 to Armageddon - wasn't "lame"? Most were, but also most had potential to become good. What they were before should be irrelevant because NRS has proven they can work a character to its full potential in their current game engines.

Shinnok is a proof of that. So is Tanya. So is Ermac. So is Rain and so on...

To me, not to include characters like Fujin or Li Mei with their AWESOME re-designs in X is beyond belief.

And I'm all for Taven and Daegon returning, because one can EASILY see potential in them. They can do A LOT in the gameplay department too! We need more Edenians for an Edenian storyline for sure.

Did I strike a nerve or something? I just don't like Taven, I didn't enjoy playing as him throughout conquest. I hated his arrogant attitude towards a lot of things and people, and I never found him to be interesting. His moves were dull, he's ANOTHER Edenian, and I really just did not have fun playing with him. His brother was more interesting than him.

I guess I'm not allowed to not like Taven? This whole comeback at me sure seems like it.

I think I did strike a nerve, because never did I said anywhere in my post that I wanted someone else to be the main star of Armageddon's conquest. I like the fact that we played as someone new, not someone we all wanted. Why even throw this at me, dude? I couldn't care less if my favorites weren't the main star, I honestly don't care.

Hell, Sub-Zero didn't play a huge part in this game's story and yet, I liked it anyways. What the hell, dude?
 
I'm completely fine with Cassie being the main protagonist for the next game. It was really cool seeing her grow from a y jerk to a leader that is respected by her team and praised by her parents. Character evolution is a big part of storytelling and I don't think Cassie should be cooled off AFTER saving the world from Shinnok. It just wouldn't make sense and would kill her momentum. If I had to choose someone completely new, though, I'd throw Kai out there.
 
Heh, I remember once there was like a big following for Kai to come around and NOTHING happened with him.

I would love to see Kai return. I really thought that he was going to appear in Deadly Alliance but nope... Nope... Just nope.
 
The concept art for Kai in Deadly Alliance was GOD. Why they haven't used it ever since is a mystery to me. NRS seems to just drop characters that really have tons of potential.

For a game that is basically based on MK4 story, X surely barely has any MK4 newcomers.
 
I would say, "Because Kai doesn't have a big fan following" but that's simply not true. Fujin has a huge fan following and he's not playable in this game.

But what I don't understand is why some would want the new characters to go away for the next game. I've seen people say that they want another character from D'Vorah's race, but not have D'Vorah. Why ditch her immediately like that? Some don't like Cassie because they either didn't care for her being just an ordinary human or was bland or whatever, but why should she immediately get the boot?

I feel like the next game should have X's new characters combined with the 3D era cast and probably a few new characters.

That would make for a great game, eh?
 
No Taven and no Daegon, we have too many pyromancers already why do you people want more of them? Ugh...

What was his concept?
 
Kai has a fanbase, but not as big as Reiko or Fujin. I actually never cared for Kai, but the concept art in DA was awesome. I really like that tribal, canibalistic vibe for him. His white tatoos and his dark skin colour... No-one in MK looks like that.

I hope that the next MK is a mixture of veterans, newcomers and 3D era.

It just sucks seeing Fujin and Li Mei redesigned (and fantastically so) in the story mode and not having them playable. Tanya shouldn't even have been DLC in the first place. People should invest more in the characters we have now IMO
 
Kai, reiko, fujin, havik, li mei, nitara, bo rai cho, hotaru, drahmin they all deserve a second chance. The rest 3d characters can all die

Bo Rai Cho is too important to the story to get rid of. But what of Sareena? I think she deserves one too.
