This actually would make some sense. It would be released a little over 2 months from MK9, so it wouldn't interfere with its release (though it would be going head-to-head with MvC3). It would most likely help build hype for MK9 by including an MK9 demo. Without any acknowledgement from Boon or anyone from WB, this is just another rumored date.

I did like the background work for IPhone UMK3 though. It's such a pity that it has the worst character models I've ever seen. I can't fathom how they missed the mark by so much.
Anyway the Feb release date is possible too, but at this point anything is possible really. Just a question though, since you mentioned it, what do you or anyone else here think of MvC3?
I used to play MvC arcade, and sure it's fun but honestly those games just have too much going on for me to be worthwhile. Fans brag they require more skill, yet button mashing always got me through. You can't button mash in MK however, that's a sure way to get your ass kicked.

I've played a lot of MvC2 and enjoy it, but it is a button-mash fest, that's for sure. I'm guessing there are more skilled ways to play it, but I just liked it because of the Marvel characters. I'll most likely pick up MvC3 at some point, but I'm not anticipating it as much as MK9 (or the HD Kollection).

Although the character models aren't the best, this game is fun to play, especially when you unlock Jade and Ermac.
I'v spent quite a few hours playing it, and it does bring back some good ole childhood memories.

Speaking of childhood memories, I just might fire up the Sega Genesis a little later, blow on the cartridge and play some REAL UMK 3.

I'm going to lean towards a possible confirmation some time down the road, due to Ed saying the same thing about the Ermac and Goro leaked pics, when he said "I don't get it. How is this a leak?"

But who knows???
It could just be a flat out denial.
A denial or confirmation would be good, at this point.
That way, this whole damn guessing game could end.

thanks for keepin us updated shawnbronald.... thats what gets me... we could have had some info either way, but no, boon gives a "what are you talking about?" answer. i just hope that its real and hopefully gets released before mk9.. a feb release would have me shitting my pants... still nothing concrete though damit..

mk hd sucks!!!!! I plyed a beta version the other day a WB/nether realm. it's really laggy. the characters look nothing like the originals, friggin jax looks like he pops roids like tic tacs. the combos feel off and I swear sonya is played by pam anderson. and not the fine pam anderson from bay watch neither, the old saggy baggy raggedy pam anderson. big disappointment. mk2 looks almost just like those fake wallpapers. shao kahn is waaaay shorter than he should be. kintaro is CGI which sounds cool but is really lame. oh by the way I'm a game tester so yeah.

Yeah, gotta love their responses. Like they wouldn't know exactly what he wasn't talking about. Even if the game wasn't being made, they'd sure as hell have heard the rumour. It's kind of all over the net. Funny guys...

In the past, when questions were asked that had definitive "no" answers, the team responded. I remembered someone asking Ed if the new Mortal Kombat would have a subtitle to it. He basically told them no, it would just be called, "Mortal Kombat". He could have answered, "I don't know, we'll have to wait and see," or something along those lines, but he didn't, he gave them a straight answer. I've seen numerous tweets directed to him (and Hans, Hector, Rigo, the official account, etc), asking about the HD Kollection and up until last night, no one would even acknowledge those comments. They simply ignored them. For whatever reason, Ed finally decided to reply and give one of his signature wink-nod vague comments (reminiscent to THIS). Not only that, but Hans decided to re-tweet it as well. Something is certainly going on.

Indeed it is. It's also funny watching just before that part where Hans Lo trying to think of a response that won't confirm it but he doesn't wanna lie about it, either. It's the only time I've seen stutter like that.

I saw the Boon interview, but never the Hans Lo one. Nice. But yeah..I see what you're meaning. Mos def something going on. I just hope that next time, they will simply reply with "we will give you more information about this then and then"

^^^^^^ exactly... both hans and boons reaction says it all... they did all they could to not say yay or nay... i heard stay tuned a couple times, so i hope it will still happen.. but damn i have 0 patience for this game. Its gotten to the point to where i want it as much as a new system coming out... JUST GIVE US A DATE THATS ALL... NO BIG MAGAZINE SPREAD, JUST A YEAH ITS ON THE WAY BE PATIENT, OR A SHUT THE **** UP AND GET OVER IT WOULD BE NICE..
