MK HD Kollection

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

As far as I'm concerned, if nothing is said before Tuesday, I'm going to assume the game is not coming out, but will be ready to head to the nearest game store at a moment's notice.

I agree.
I'd be ready to go and get it at a moment's notice, but if there's no news by the 16th I'll just drop the HD Kollection subject.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

lol, seriously? This is well beyond crazy. Out of curiosity, what store did you go to? Was it a big name store?

It's just a mom & pop store in Toronto, Canada.

I doubt it's shipping on the 16th, but the situation is really bizarre. Listings should've been corrected or have been taken off by now.

I'm with you man, I've all but completely lost hope for this, I think we should check out playstationNetwork as well, I've asked the guys at Gamestop 3 seperate occasions , and they said they think that it most likely will end up being a DLC

I'll definitely be checking PSN as well. Honestly, a PSN only release would make a lot of sense. Think about it: if WB wants to save money by not spending a penny on advertising, why spend any money on producing game cases, discs and boxart? Ink is expensive! Digital downloads are the way to go for those cheapskates. ;-)

Who knows?
Maybe if they put it on the PSN instead, the online purchase would also include a code for the MK 9 demo.

Re: MK HD Kollection Leaked Screenshot???

It'd be nicer if we got an Official release date for the HD Kollection, instead of keeping us in the dark.

Re: MK HD Kollection Leaked Screenshot???

"Mortal Kombat II HD Remake by ~W-A-V-O
Digital Art / 3-Dimensional Art / Scenes / Interiors "

"I did A 3D Concept for a Mortal Kombat Remake in HD however is just a vision of me as a Fan"

Yeah, but it wouldn't make sense since the 360 is the cash cow in MK's primary market and the packaging isn't THAT expensive.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Sounds a bit heavy to be a DLC, the pack will be around 1 Gb... If not more if it includes the demo of MK 9

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

There are pretty large games on PSN, going up to 14GB, and MS's cap on XBLA is 3GB so there is plenty of space.

Interesting development though, so maybe Dec 17 is the date that will stick?

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

now correct me if im wrong but aways back somebody pointed out that the hd collection would have 2 b called THE MK HD COLLECTION since midway still has the rights to mortal kombat original name,so how r a few people reserving a game with a name owned by midway?and for as long as i can remember MOST american games release here 1st before shipping over seas, why would they start on the outside and work their way back to the U.S?it dont sense to me

that is a very good point. unless it is a PSN release, then it would be a simultaneous worldwide release. but retailers would never schedule preorders for a PSN release, that just makes no sense.

it's coming down to the fact that this may be a WB screw up that they didn't think was big enough to completely rectify. a product list from WB was probably sent out with invalid information regarding MK HD. Gamespot was the biggest retailer to list MK HD, and they were quick to rectify this problem. In fact I'm betting WB sent a letter to all retailers who had received their product list about their error. Some retailers may have payed no attention to the letter, or perhaps failed to act on it. None of these retailers happened to be predominant so WB probably felt it was unnecessary for any further followup.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Amazon just changed the release date to January 31th 2011 ...

@humansmoke44 if it was an error, retailers would not change the release dates, and I doubt so many retailers did the same mistake & ignored the letter, the probability is too low.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

The various release dates drives me crazy. My local gameshop's website say they will have the game monday,I already pre-orderd mine there. I'm gonna head over today and ask if they got more info.

I also got a strange feeling that the US and Europe release date will not be the same. Just a hunch.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

good find man! this shows the exact date for games came/comin out in europe! So if NR n WB are PR geniuses they put the Disc based releases a month after the US Dates OR a month after the PSN/Live release, cause of pirating n shit... almost every 360 (and PS3 since its hacked) game i know, leaked from, a week early or at least 2 to 3 days before RLS/store Date! ( Gran Tourismo 5 leak a few days ago ;) ) It´ll be a jolly merry christmas present to me though ;)

I´m still thinking its comin to psn/live on 16th November though... *fingers taped cross shape*

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

So I just came back from my local gameshop. They had it listed for november 15th, I placed my pre-order a while back.

I explained the strange story about this game. They told me that they get their releasedates from the distributors and sometimes they are wrong and the game gets pulled off from the list. But sofar they haven't heard anything like that about this game. They say there is a good chance the game will come out next week. So I'll have to wait and check.

My gut feeling says it won't be out next week, but like said before, I just hope WB confirms the game and give us an official releasedate next week.

Uh.... if that's the case, then why can the new game be called, simply, "Mortal Kombat"? Midway, if you haven't heard, is no more. WB basically BOUGHT Midway (that includes all their intellectual property). Not sure where you heard this, but it's incorrect or you just misunderstood.

WB Games bought the franchise, otherwise the new "Mortal Kombat" would be titled something else. Its OFFICIAL title is Mortal Kombat, so that alone throws your "theory" off, but even then, if Midway owned the rights to the original game, there's no way WB Games could make a sequel to it without their permission. In that same light, there's no reason WB couldn't buy the license from Midway for the Kollection, either.

Since WB owns the MK franchise outright, that's not an issue, tho.
