It doesn't really matter who's right, both theories end on the same fate: eternal damnation.
Yup. I hope we see Jade as a revenant in Story Mode though.

Or he merely showed the souls he had gained from those fallen in the war. Those three amongst them.
If that's the case, then why didn't Motaro or Shang Tsung's souls show up in the NetherRealm, either?
According to your logic, I'm pretty sure that those 2 had tainted souls too.
We don't know what happened to Shang Tsung. He didn't just die like the others, his entirety was absorbed into Sindel. Perhaps he still is, even in her death.
As for Motaro, the simple answer could be that NRS didn't bother putting him in. If Quan Chi had his soul, he would most likely make use of such a powerful creature as Motaro to fight against Raiden, but we all know how NRS feel about having Motaro available for such.
No.
Per Vogel's Tweet a while back ago, Shang Tsung wasn't absorbed INTO Sindel, as in, he died.
He was killed and his "power" was transferred into her.
As for Motaro, they could have easily have had him in the background, with the other warriors, without him fighting Raiden.
You're just picking and choosing which characters show up in the NetherRealm, to suit your argument.
Where in his tweet did it say that he died? Could you provide the source?
Sure.
This may take a while, though, as I'd have to look through about a year of his Tweets......
I'll be waiting patiently.
@BujinTao said:@K0MB4T did sindel kill the heroes in mk9? Or did shang kill the heroes in mk9 whilst being in sindel's body as prelude to deadly alliance?
@K0MB4T said:@BujinTao ... Shang was not in Sindel's body. Shao Kahn took the power he gave Shang and transferred it to Sindel.

Thus, Shang Tsung =/= in Sindel, implying that he died, given that Shang Tsung's life force / power was taken from him.
(2:54 mark)
If Shang Tsung isn't in Sindel, then he was definitely killed / disintegrated by Shao Kahn.
EDIT:
Shang Tsung was cursed by mysterious entities identified only as his gods. The curse forcibly decreases his lifespan, unless he takes the souls of others to replenish himself. Shang Tsung's primary objective is to find an infinite source of souls on which to thrive indefinitely.
Should Tsung go on without souls, his body will rapidly age, wither, and eventually die.

Good theory, but there's no actual proof of Shang Tsung having died. Until then, I'm not going to see that as a fact. I am not saying you are wrong, you could prove to be right. But as it is now, none of us knows for sure. It's speculation and theory.
It's safe to assume he is dead, remember Shang cannot live without a single soul in his body according to MK canon. The less souls he has, the faster he ages. I'd assume that if he had one soul in his body, he'd look like he was an inch away from death.
Therefore, in simpler terms, Shang wasn't absorbed by Sindel, the mere power that keeps him alive (souls) were.
Well, you know me... I rarely make assumptions.
Some assumptions are safe to make considering what is given to us. It's one thing like the Sub-Zero thread where we make baseless assumptions when there was no proof regarding why we assumed (until now), it's another when NRS gave us concrete canon facts (Shang cannot live without a single soul in his body). It's clear Shao Kahn gave all of Shang's souls to Sindel. If Kahn spared one soul, Shang would be standing there a crippled old man. The fact that he disintegrated means all the souls were removed from his body, therefore rendering him dead.
I've been mentioning about that Tweet for a long time... It pissed me off for having such an explanation-less event take place.
But then again, knowing the kind of power that Shang had, one should know. But of course, not everyone would have grasped that if he had little to no souls in him, he would die at a rapid rate.
