Kotal Kahn... a relative of Shao Kahn? The Konqueror himself?

Kotal starts off with: "You have no chance Thunder God"

Raiden: "Thunder blots out the sun"

Kotal: "Temporarily"
 
On this same video, it is curious that he says "Pray for the Kahns/Kahn's mercy".

The thing is: if it's Kahns mercy, we can't say that he is not related to Shao Kahn (as Boon said, we know he trolls on twitter freely). He can be easily an ancestor (I say this because he is surely based on Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec God of the Sun, War and Sacrifice, not only because of the appearance, but his variations match his godlike status, with blood instead of sacrifice).

But if it's Kahn's mercy, well, it also says nothing about heritage, except the fact that he is that kind of arrogant god that talks on third person.
 
He's simply referring to himself in the third person.


Shao Kahn has never been referred to as "The Kahn".
If he were to say "Pray for the Emperor's mercy" then I'd say you were onto something.

Maybe, because if we consider that there may be an heritage (invented on this game, of course), it is possible that Shao Kahn and other Kahn's are referred like this. If Kotal Kahn is related to Shao Kahn, and he looks somehow evil, he probally hates Raiden too.

Anyway, it is kinda strange that they create a pretty new character with the name of one of the most iconic villains in the series and both are not related, isn't it?
 
They changed his name to "Khan" in the new Raiden trailer.
Could be to distance him from Shao Kahn. Who knows.
 
Oh, I didn't notice that change! Maybe I was too stunned with Raiden's amazing lighting combos. I know it sound weird but, this "jumping H" surely can change things. Certainly they did that to distance him from Shao Kahn.

Hmm if that's true than sweet! Why not? He's unique and that fact wouldn't be the only thing interesting about the character. He definitely has his own presence.
 
I was just kinda hoping that Shao Kahn would be done for a while, no son or daughter, kinda would have thought Mileena would be the child to do something.

Just kinda would like to know, if it really is indeed the legitimate son of Kahn himself, who he banged.

Yeah, I can trust that Kotal Kahn isn't related to Shao Kahn from that tweet (if he isn't just stirring the pot) but my eyes can't unsee the image of Kano. It looks legitimate.

The fact that the same magazine claimed something that was already shot down by Mister Boon himself is enough to discredit an entire source. Plus, the Kano photos looked fake to my eye.

Who knows. The magazine could be bull or Boon could be avoiding confirming that possible fact. Until then, time will only tell.

Well, I don't expect anything out of it, but I did tweet those 2 photos to Boon due to my doubts about the Kano legitimacy. The claims about Kotal Kahn from the same source heighten my doubts even more.

I have always been saying that Kotal may be an ancestor of Shao Kahn because he is an Aztec God (or at the least based on), so he is kinda ancient.

But when trying to argument that Onaga may be the next villain, I said that Taven knew Shinnok as an Elder God, thousands of years ago. At the same time, he lived in a time where Shao Kahn was already Emperor of Outworld, so Onaga was older than that.

If you remember, the battle of the gods that sent Shinnok to the NR killed most of dinosaurs. Well, if Shao Kahn had this son before that (and he surely had time to) or even after, Kotal can easily be Huitzilopochtli and been cultued by aztecs and mayans, because they are thousands of years after the jurassic period.
