Kotal Kahn... a relative of Shao Kahn? The Konqueror himself?

He is in my opinion definitely a relative of Shao Kahn.

For one, his last name is Kahn. He also has this kick move, that is exactly like Shao Kahn's, co incidence?
I think not

The green skin and Aztec theme give off that vibe. But there's very little to ripoff from Ogre other than his look. He has no special moves in the Tekken series and his story is just him coming to Earth to absorb skilled fighters.

Kotal is far more unique than Ancient Ogre, and his attacks actually make his Aztec look make sense.

Kotal Kahn appears very much more interesting than ogre from Tekken.
I am not saying this because i dont like tekken. I like tekken, but i love Mortal Kombat!!!

He's possibly Shao Kahn's himself, but weaker and more poor.

Or he can be Shao Kahn's relative. But i dont think so, if there is Shao Kahn's powerful relative, then we could saw him or at least heard about him before MKX. But of course things will happen differently, maybe he was locked at some deep dungeons, but with Shao Kahn's REAL death he would be free.

I don't think Kotal's a descendant of Shao Kahn nor do I think he should be, I think he's a belligerent God that that tries to conquer Shao Kahn's former empire and then adopts the emperor's former title. Kahn being somehow related to an aztec god doesn't seem like a good idea to me, it's just so random and out of left field. If anyone should be given the treatment of being the Emperor's descendant it should be Reiko after they teased some sort of connection for nearly two decades.

I'm guessing that the word "Kahn" in MK X is more of a title for "ruler" or "overlord," such as King ____________ or Queen _____________.

Genghis Khan, Shere Khan, Chaka Khan.....

Here, let me try it on for size: Araknyd Kahn.
I kinda like it. :)

I think that he's related to Shinnok (possibly his loyal servant) and that Kahn is just a title, not a name, like has been mentioned. I think this makes most sense. Shinnok is building a new army of warriors from various worlds and realms, brings in Kotal and grants him the title of Kahn - ruler of "insert realm here" in exchange for his services. Little does Kotal know though that Shinnok will later betray him. Kotal isn't the smartest and won't see this coming, will try to fight Shinnok, but will fail.

I think it would be a cool twist if he was on the Good Guy side. I dont think most people would expect that. he has all the tale signs of a baddy! i just think it would be neat if he was a "Hero or Anti-Hero"type. :bubbrubb:

That's unlikely, Aztec culture is notorious for the amount of Human Sacrifices that took place in their civilization. It's gonna take some great writing to make a character that draws influence from that to seem "neutral" let along good. If anything he's like a kindred spirit to Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, two characters that frequently uses human sacrifices to get their way.

He's possibly Shao Kahn's himself, but weaker and more poor.

Unlikely, Shao Kahn never possessed the sun powers or powers to summon totems, he also never had any connection to the Aztec heritage, which pretty much rules out the relative part. Why would anyone want to play as a weak and poor version of a old character? I say make Kotal Kahn strong and powerful and don't make him related to Shao Kahn, that way you would have a badass original character.

Kotal Kahn could also just be a temporary name.

I remember Hsu Hao being named Kublai Khan in 2002 (during the early stages of development), before his name was finally changed in Deadly Alliance.

"Hsu Hao was called Kublai Khan in an early beta of Deadly Alliance. Although it was merely a reference to the ancient Mongol warlord, many took it to be a connection to Shao Kahn. "

Boon could be trolling...

I doubt he's trolling on this one.

I think the people who let out the list of "rumor" leaks/spoilers in the other thread said the same thing about Kotal not being related to kahn.

THE PROPHECIES ARE COMING TRUE I TELL YA!!!!
