Killer Instinct announced for XBOX ONE!!!!!

In an attempt to regain his humanity, he rips the implants from his body and resorts to dark arts. He's using black magic to become human again

They explain why Saber has his arms back in one of Maximillian's interviews.
Given the picture a few posts above yours, don't you think it was an excuse created by the last minute? I mean...even Max made a funny face hearing it.

EDIT: Then again... since it's KI we are talking about...black magic is kinda like a good answer...

I think this is relevant to this thread:

Killer Instinct is a mash-to-win noob-friendly combo fest

I never seen KI as a "button mash your combos out" game there was a certain rhythm and technique to the combos and they really only worked against people who don't know how to combo break well enough (which btw with enough exposure many people learned) and it's a shame that the new one seems to have gone in that direction. There's of course a debate over that in the comments there though.

I don't know if this is just me but I never found fighting games that rewarded button mashing as a viable technique to be the most fun in the genre. That's a reason why I was turned off by games like Tekken at first and always preferred games where every move was deliberate.

Well your right, you really couldnt mass out a huge string, you had to know the chart and what you were doing to pull off the bigger combo strings

yes, yes I know someone is going to say they can mash out a 4 hit combo but its still nothing in compairison so the fact in a short play session people were busting out huge combo's with (overall) little time with the game has me a bit concerned.

*edit*
Just watched this vido, and besides the fact I still hate they changed Jago's Windkick Ken talks about the system and it sounds great however you get the audio confirmation how much easier it is t ostring things together, I cringe abit thinking this could turn into a 1v1 UMvC3.

Someone also said "So while you sit on your high horse, did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, the characters offered in the demo are entry level?"

That makes me sad as a fan of Jago. Sure his moves where especially in KI1 similar enough to Ryu in Street Fighter in execution that new players could pick him up and use him especially those versed in Street Fighter I never seen him as "entry level"... especially in KI2. I realize that's totally just my opinion though. But I have mained him for a while so that sort of bums me out.

I liked him because he was the "ninja" (I used to make him grey to resemble Smoke a bit) and he had some really good (non button mashy) smaller combos in KI1 that where useful in actual play rather than just for show and easily broken.

BTW, his new mask makes me think more of a horror movie than a ninja (at least from the back). =\

Anyway, if anything Orchid was the most entry level in KI1 because she's the one everyone seemed to figure out an easy long combo with. Probably Sabrewulf too for similar reasons. Jago I always picture more as for someone who was referring to what I said above.. versed in fighting games rather than entry level players in general.

One last thing. It's kind of silly how Ken Lobb remapped his buttons and said "look what we solved". I used to do that every day with fighting games on the SNES with my fighting stick backin the day. :)

I mained Orchid back on SNES and I remember pulling off an Ultra Combo with her without any guides or move lists. I actually thought I pulled off something major... then I learned its a simple string you input and the game does the rest lol

As for the new KI being noob friendly... who cares. I don't understand why every single fighting game needs to have these complex systems for pulling off combos and such and if it caters to new players in the slighest, its labeled "noob" or "scrub" friendly. Are the pro fighting game players worried about a new guy dethroning them or something? Is the pro fighting game scene this exclusive after school club that only pros are allowed to part of? Fighting game club, no scrubs allowed.

Anyways even if it is incredibly to pull off combos... isnt this what people wanted? People complained about the gameplay and the character design saying it doesn't look like KI, so they bring back something that makes it feel like KI and people still complain?

Nobody likes braindead games.

Honestly, I see this game as going to be MvC3, with 200% less followers.

As long as its fun, thats all I care about and MVC3 is incredibly fun.

As for 200% less followers. I hope that isn't a comment saying no one is going to buy an Xbox One. There are three Gamestops around me and all of them are sold out on PS4 and Xbox One pre orders. Mine being one of them :)

Orchid's 41 hit ultra combo is one of the biggest and at the same time easiest ultras to pull off in KI! :)

Anyway...

All I'm saying is that for me personally speaking mindless fighting games where one just bashes buttons to play or win are not fun. That's one reason why I always preferred playing games like Mortal Kombat at the arcades instead of say.. Tekken. But that's personal opinion and what's not fun to me might be a blast to you.

No, combos don't have to be ridiculously hard to pull off for a fighting game to be good but in a 1 on 1 fighting game I don't want them to be "braindead" either. There is probably some depth to this new KI from what I've heard described but Jonathan Holmes is doing it no favors in my eyes calling it button mash friendly.

Also, I'm not a pro tournament fighter by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just an old school fighting game fan who prefers games with deliberate moves that one presses specific buttons or joystick combinations over button mashathons. On the other hand I thought KI2 went overboard with their combo system and preferred KI1 as the combos there are easier and more fun (not in a button mashy way).

Either way I'm probably going to end up sticking to MK and other fighting games over this when it comes to new fighting games as I have no plans on getting an Xbone.

Thats true. For me, its still early so im sure what within the next few months they will start fine tuning it.

Also keep in mind that if someone is just going to button mash you can easily combo break the hell out of them for it.

People who play Tekken competitively usually use a character's most most useful set of moves, they don't throw out moves at random which mashing would suggest.

so I heard this shit was a free-to-play game...

lol where they do that at?

You download it for free and you have three options

1. buy characters individually as you see fit
2. buy the entire roster like you would a full retail game
3. pay a little more and buy a "seasons pass" which gets you the full game and future content
