this is exactly what i have been saying the whole time. nrs should have stopped at one guest character. once you have 2 guests people think their favorite character automatically should be in because kratos and freddy are in. i mean look at this thread alone and how many people are saying jason should automatically be in because of freddys inclusion. they can't be happy with TWO guests ruining the game. they have to have jason now too.

NRS has already opened a can of worms by adding Freddy to the game. All that's going to happen in people are going to keep requesting Jason since Freddy's in and when Jason happens to get released, people will probably ask for another horror movie character and it just won't stop.

But I completely agree with chessmaster; they shouldn't have added another guest character because now everyone what some random guest character that doesn't really need to be added. Don't get me wrong, I'm okay with Freddy being in the game, I just don't like that fact most people who aren't MK players thinking that any character, no matter how ridiculous (ie. Link from Legend of Zelda), should all of a sudden be added to the game. Cut it off at Freddy and leave it that way.

I think they will draw the line at Jason. There will be another three characters then Jason. I'd prefer even more DLC after that, but they will probably start working on MK10, even though they need to wait. This isn't Call of Duty where they need to release one game a year, let MK9 run it's course first.

people are expecting him to be in, so NRS is going to try and suprise us with someone else instead.
That's just their idea of fun, but at this point, no one really cares about surprieses anymore.

I'd really love to agree with you but they kind of screwed themselves by putting Freddy in, in the first place. I would have loved to see a guest character that could stand on his own without needing some rival or companion to come with him/her in the future. You know tons of people will be wanting Jason, so there's a slim chance he will be in the next batch of DLC. Maybe if they cancel Freddy and give us a different character, people will calm down. I think the fact that Jason has a chance to show up in the future is what REALLY has people POed at NRS right now.
 
I see Jason getting a better acceptance than people expected... seriously, look at the polls, there's only a minority who hate him and want to boycott the DLC, the rest are completely in favor of having Freddy in the game... including me ;)
So there's a big chance that we'll be seeing jason/another guest in the future.
 
Well I think Jason is DLC with the next season pass.
But I don't really mind that Freddy (Maybe Jason) is/are in.

I am a fan of Mortal Kombat but I also like Freddy. They could have chosen someone a lot worse.

And the good thing is when u buy the season pass u get the guest for free and u support the MK characters.

We just have to wait and see what Boon is gonna deliver next.

I was hoping they would have put Predator instead of freddy, as there would have been alot of people wanting Alien too, but his body is all ****ed up and wierd and fatality's /Xrays wouldnt work on him. So that would have put alien out of the picture and we would get 1 character (Predator) and never have to worry about any more guests
 
i still want Ash Williams form Evil Dead. i can already see an awsome chainsaw/boomstick combo in my head. plus not to mention all the witty one liners would get from having such a character.

Wow, MK10 already? At least, he did mention that the game isn't going to be in 3D. I don't think more DLCs will help MK9 compete against Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Street Fighters X Tekken etc...
Don't get it wrong tho, I don't want NRS to rush things and make a crappy game.

In all honesty I don't see a point to get your hopes up over one liners, not one DLC character released has had ANY dialogue. Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain all just grunt or say HIYAH while Freddy Laughs in his intro. I think it would tremendously make guest characters even more hated if they went out of their way to give him phrases.

as for the overall discussion, I really could care less about guest characters but i will say the MK characters released better be good. I am not even a Tremor fan that much(barely know the character) but when I read he got skipped for OTHER "MK" characters apparently, and they mention Freddy yea definitely left a negative mark on DLC characters.

I'm cool with Freddy being in it, was surprised. I would like to see Jason Vorhees, as well if it happens.

As for this guest character thing, Gon wasn't so bad in Tekken 3, just someone random to play as. Dr. Boskonovitch was funny as hell, crazy moves, and I liked his Yoshimitsu dash thing.

was gonna say i hope he doesn't think unexpected goes with Jason LOL. most people would see that coming a mile away. sad thing would be if by unexpected he meant doing MK characters LOL

Yeah. It's a pity that most of the questions now seem to be about guests or crossovers.

I mean, this is meant to be MK9 - the game that got fans to return to the franchise. If this game succeeded in turning some of the more unpopular characters into better ones, surely a few more of the 30+ unused MK characters would be fair game for an overhaul. And more new characters could still be made.

Right this minute though, this seems to be the message coming across from a select few of the fanbase: "We don't trust NRS's story writers or concept artists to make any more decent characters on their own... So we want someone else's creation. We want Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, Ash Williams, the Predator, an Alien, Peter Griffin, Bugs Bunny, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo..." :P
