Honestly I can understand the disdain that some people have for the amount of Batman characters. It's likely that the reason Batman gets the most characters is because the Batman universe alone has more recognizable characters than pretty much any other major character in DC. Which is mainly because of all the exposure he gets. However the problem with this is if they expose the same characters over and over again, they'll be stuck having to use the same faces and none of their lesser faces can go anywhere. By pushing the Batman characters more, they sacrifice a chance for other characters to gain recognition.
Compare that to Marvel, who went out of their way to make names like Iron Man, Thor, etc popular among non comic readers. As well as Guardians who were complete unknowns to the average joe before their movie. Marvel still gives Spider-man and X-men plenty of spotlight(though to be fair, Spider-man is Sony and X-men is Fox, as far as movies go, but I digress), but they're pushing the Avengers characters way more heavily than DC has ever pushed Wonder Woman or Flash.
Albeit, Green Lantern probably would have been as popular as Batman or even Superman if the general consensus of the 2011 movie was that it wasn't a disappointment.
That's why I was saying to swap out some of the Batman characters for other characters of the same universe.
Not all Batman characters have to be in the game at the same time, imo, which is why I made the comparison with MKX.
Characters like Two-Face, Killer Croc and Penguin aren't over-exposed.
They were background fodder in the last Injustice game, and aside from Killer Croc the last time the other 2 were on the big screen was 2008 for Two-Face and 1992 for Penguin (unless you count the Gotham TV series).
While I agree that pushing the Batman characters more sacrifices chances for other characters, I don't see why some can't be swapped out for others.
That's my point.
I agree that Marvel has been better at putting the characters on screen, but despite Suicide Squad not doing well it did put Killer Croc and Deadshot in the minds of people, who previously before that didn't have much exposure outside of comics.
As for Wonder Woman and Flash, both are getting their own movies and are in the upcoming Justice League movie along with Cyborg, despite how much faith I have in the actual film.
Regardless, those characters are getting more spotlight.
Green Lantern will never be as popular as Batman and Superman, even if the opposite had happened and it was the best DC movie to ever come out.
That's like saying that Deadpool is more famous than Wolverine because his movie was better.
Despite Deadpool being an awesome movie and being true to the character, he'll never out-do characters like Wolverine or Spider-Man when it comes to popularity.
That's like saying that _____________ character is more popular than Scorpion and Sub-Zero (the poster-boys) in MK.
