I get it now, NRS now HATES Liu Kang.

Anyways, I can't wait for the day Ed steps down from the franchise and the next guy to take over intentionally sh**s all over Scorpion in every single game.

First of all, the Vorhees ending (as with all the other MKX character endings) is non-canon, until proven otherwise in MK11.
So, no need to get upset about that.
If it's anyone that you should be upset about that constantly gets shit on in the MK series, it's Sub-Zero.
It wasn't until MKX that they FINALLY redeemed him a bit.
Also, Liu Kang staying a revenant and being NetherRealm ruler is some of the better story progression that they have given him in a long time.
Liu being the goody-2-shoes in every single MK game got stale after a while.
I get that he's the champ, but prior to MKX, his storyline was more boring than watching paint dry.

Secondly, if you're going to wait for Boon to leave NRS / MK, then I guess you're also going to wait for Super Mario to stop being a Nintendo exclusive.
The co-creator of the game series isn't going to just hand HIS series that HE created off to some schmo.
Not going to happen.

The only thing i believe to be canon in that ending is Liu Kang lording over the Netherrealm.

I agree with that, but at the same time the whole ending can be considered non-canon since Jason isn't a canon character in the MK series.
The same thing with Freddy in MK9.
In Freddy's MK9 ending Shao Kahn was still ruler of Outworld.

NRS picks and chooses things from the current game's story mode canon to fit the individual character's ending, but it doesn't mean that the entire ending is canon, in itself.

I don't understand how you can hate this iteration of Liu Kang... his attitude is great, the way he gets up when he loses a round is amazing, and the overall douchiness is awesome. Much better than the same ol' earth protecting, elder god following goody two-shoes.

Edit: Damn, Commander got in Goody 2 shoes before I could :???:

It would be pretty funny if they actually made his ending Canon. It's the last thing anyone would expect.

Netherrealm emperor Jason Voorhees as main villain in MK 11.

NRS doesn't hate Liu Kang. Like everyone else is saying, him being a revenant is the best thing that happened to him. Also, if NRS really hated Liu, they wouldn't have given him the most badass costume in the game (Dark Emperor).

LOL.
That's not going to happen, though, so I don't see the need to worry.
If NRS made a guest character the main villain for the next game, I'm pretty sure that people would be lining up outside of the studio with pitchforks and torches.
Not gonna happen.

The most likely scenario (IMO) is that Liu Kang and Kitana will continue to be evil in MK11 and rule the NetherRealm, or we get a NEW main villain, or we get a returning villain / character being the villain (Onaga, Shao Kahn, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc).
Who knows?
Perhaps Noob Saibot comes back in MK11 and dethrones Liu Kang and Kitana.

Im sorry but I love how liu kang has become the kazuya of mk now and I will say they showed liu a helluva lot more love than quan chi story wise who basically became cannon fodder

And his whole character was done way more justice than I had originally thought from a gameplay perspective and at least nrs decided to make a human form as his primary for those who weren't quite ready to accept his revenant form

That actually annoyed me a bit, and I'm probably in the minority on that, but Liu Kang should have had his revenant costume as the default, to go with the canon, and had the human form as unlockable.

Yeah, I know, I know.
The non-canon human form was done for _____________ reason.

Liu Kang's death and him becoming a revenant is best thing to happen to him. I still find it amusing how Liu Kang blames Raiden for his death. If you weren't so emotional after Kitana's death and decided to go rogue and fought Raiden. You still would be alive, that's your own fault not Raiden's.

I mean to be fair Raiden did electrocute the shit out of him.

Agreed.

It's all good, though.
While Liu Kang may have turned down Kitana's offer to rule Edenia with her in his non-canon MK4 ending, Liu-tana will be ruling the NetherRealm together in MK11 as King and Queen Of The Damned.

....which can also be seen as Raiden just being a klutz god, who can't control his powers.
Before he died in his arms, Raiden said that that was not meant to be.
Liu Kang had MADE himself Raiden's enemy by not heeding him and choosing to fight against Raiden, instead.

Liu Kang has always been the most boring MK mainstay imo. He's the typical overused Bruce Lee cliche that appears in nearly every fighting game.

That being said, they should've just killed him off for good if all he's going to be now is a zombie thrall. He really served no purpose within the narrative. None of the revenants did for that matter.

The new direction for Liu Kang is cool but I don't really like the revenant thing. Some revenants like Sindel, Nightwolf or Smoke are slaves that fight for QC but Liu and Kitana have a personality and become rulers of Netherrealm? Meh... I'd like Liu Kang revived by somebody else, not as revenant but as a scarred psycho that hates Raiden. He could be as evil as the Liu Kang from Legacy.

I don't really like how the revenants look like. These eyes and yellow veins. I like Dark Empress Kitana though. Maybe I will like Liu Kang's Dark Emperor costume, because I still didn't unlock it.

I am with Commander. I don't like how KL, LK and Kitana are humans as their main costumes, especially because Liu Kang and Kung Lao look older. They can't, because they are undead. Choosing between young and old, I would prefer a young version as their main.

If NRS hated Liu Kang, then why did they make him and his girlfriend
Spoiler:
the new rulers of a major realm,
which in my opinion was a missed opportunity when Tobias was around?

I like the direction they are going with Liu Kang, it makes him much more of an interesting character imo with him being evil and all. Not only that he is very y and confident similar to Jann Lee from DoA. I like how he very confident and he mocks his opponents skills and also saying stuff like "you overestimate your skill" lol.

I don't see the point of Liu Kang, and Kung Lao having old versions of themselves when they were not revived at all. Their 2nd outfit should had been their main ones instead.

I think, turning him into a drunk Filipino with Maori facial tattoos is probably all the confirmation one needs that Lui Kang is now the franchises A-1 joke character.
