Friendships were supposed to be cheesy. And were made as a joke in response to the complaints against MK's violence.

I think including Friendships would be a brilliant little nod to the golden days of Mortal Kombat.

I guess so, then I think that I just didn't like the cheesiness. Though they did get a couple grins and laughs out of my friends years back.
I wouldn't mind them coming back at all.
 
It's weird but I actually have a feeling friendships will be in. Maybe not in their traditional form, but still there nonetheless. Put it this way, MK9 is the darkest, most brutal installment in the series. It's for exactly that reason why I think they will throw in something totally odd, just for fun, the same way it appeared in MK2. I think they'll be really sneaky about it too, make it like an easter egg and tell absolutely no one. Then one day, someone will accidentally pull it off and wet themselves. I can just imagine the MK team conjuring up something hilarious like that, there's been some subtle hints already.

As long as it doesn't take away from their efforts perfecting gameplay, and there's time to spare for it, I don't mind. Otherwise, through DLC at a later date, secretly packaged in with regular content.
Like I said they may not even appear the same way they used to, and it's been such a long time since they were in MK games, it would be a fun, nostalgic juxtaposition to have in MK9.

I think that it might also take away from the game myself. Sure I loved some of the friendships back in the day but, then the friendships really worked for the less anatomically correct game. With this mortal kombat being very realistic, friendships just would go against the overall vision of the game. Now if they were to come up with maybe another creative way to give players another less violent option to embarass the loser; I would gladly accept Brutalities. I just don't want the player to explode at the end.

This game is definitely no more realistic than the others. It just has better 3D models and graphics. Something as simple as a Friendship cannot take away from the game. Especially since you aren't forced into performing them.

I agree on the brutality. I didn't like that characters would explode at the end.
 
How is slicing a guy in two WITH A HAT realistic? This game's GORIER than any MK before it, but it's far from realistic.

And even so, Friendships and Babalities IMPROVE the experience by allowing you to shame your opponent further. Anyone can do a fatality at the end of a round, but a Friendship or Babality? They require special conditions, so it takes a lot more skill to pull them off. (Brutalities and Animalities didn't improve the game like this.)

Plus, I don't want a 100% serious game.
 
There should not be any Babalities, though Friendships aren't that a big a deal. But no babies! Why? Cuz Bender says so, that's why!
 
What, loads of annoying brats crawling around while Uncle Bender is trying kill that meat-sack Scorpion? Not on your life, chump. Humans suck, Bender is great! And Bender can do whatever he wants with no consequences... heh, heh.

What was that?! Fuzz!! They can't arrest me! I have my own TV show! Doesn't greatness count for something anymore??!
 
I wanna the friendship. why?, is easy, if i wanna a "dark", obscure game with only fatalitys, we have 2, mk4 and deadly alliance, and that is so boring, besides, the best mk has this, mk2 and mk3, so, why dont in this game, so is suposed to be the "back to the roots", for me, dont ruin the game, the brutalities, yea, that ruin the game
 
Freindships would be awesome if they made them more mature . like what if mileena gave you a lap dance!!! hell yeah I can see it now. fap fap fap fap fap. whaaaat I was just packing my newports.
