DiveKick!!!

Iight so I've been watching some videos of this.

I legit want to play this. Is it ever going to be released on like XBL and PSN?

Instant-buy.

I'm maining Dive too.

This video got me hyped

It's official, this game will be released on the PS3, PS Vita and PC this spring.

Forget Injustice, play this

I figured I had to bump this thread, as I've become a huge Divekick fan after playing the game at C2E2 a few months ago, and it's on my own forum. I've since played the game at a private Chicago Developer meetup and again at UFGT9 this past weekend.

Don't listen to the negativity going around this weekend from people who haven't played the game, or even know much about it. The version of the game that is out there now on display is the re-written game not the XNA "demo" game that was made over a year ago, it looks completely different now. So the videos on the first page of this thread are not representative of the game.

The game is a LOT of fun and not only fun it's exhilarating. You are down to one hit kills and you really have to use your character's unique skills and specials to be able to survive getting hit. Mind games of timing and spacing never has become more important. It sounds overly simple but it is a lot more than that, and I've yet to see someone play it and not absolutely love the game.

The final game will even have a story mode and online play, so this game is going all out for a digital only release.

Check out the finals from UFGT9, especially the run of games King of Bums had as he tried to get the JEBONUS $500 pot bonus for someone completing a tournament only using the Jefailey character. He sadly lost right before the end, but he was doing great.

I like the game so much I made the logo that the official Divekick Twitter account is using right now, as well as made a Divekick Fan account on Twitter: https://twitter.com/divekickers also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Divekickers (not much updated there yet, patience). Follow them if you want to follow along a bit more.

Also PC gamers, be sure to Greenlight it on Steam at http://greenlightdivekick.com

Truth be told, I didn't think much about Divekick when I first heard about it. It looked like a crude flash game that I would only play for 30 minutes. The recent footage has changed my opinion. It not only has a more polished look, the characters now have some more pronounced quirks.

This game looks hilarious and awesome.
Pat, do you know when the release date for it is?

Summer for PS3 and Vita. PC hopefully soon after, but it needs to be Greenlit on Steam first!

Yes it's a much different game, thanks for taking a look and giving it a chance.

Also anyone see the reveal from UFGT9 for the end boss? I won't spoil the surprise, but it's quite awesome.

It was at PAX East.

It's kind of funny, and I breifly enjoyed it.

But... I don't understand the hype >.>; No where near a good enough game IMO for me to spend money on.

The character names are quite funny too.

S-Kill
Dr. Shoals
Kung Pao (female Kung Lao, she even has Kung Lao's hat)

It's something different, Critical. I'm upset that it won't be coming to Xbox :l

lol, it's not different. It's just a joke game. You can be competitive with anything, not saying I could easily go win a tournament in Dive-kick as there are some mind-games to be had.

It's basically sudden death with kung lao >.>

Unlikely at launch but possible at some point in time, just really expensive due to how Xbox Digital game slots work. They'd have to buy a slot from another developer unless MS starts to be better for smaller developers.

It's a funny game but it's no longer a "joke" as it's a complete game with a bunch of different characters, modes, etc. It's more than just Kung Lao, the matchups are more than two of the same character. Each have different speeds, angles, specials, and now even a few characters who are completely different than the rest. The game is much deeper than you seem to believe.

Also it's not going to be a $60 game, my guess is $15 but I don't know that to be honest. The top tier players are damn good at it and skill is involved. So you can either go out to dinner or buy Divekick and get hours and hours of entertainment.

The best place for information on the game is actually the Giant Bomb wiki:

Also right now, I'm maining Markman. His precision control and just frame kick attack really make him stand out to me. Now I just got to get the just frame timing down.

yeah I've been keeping up with it. I already know all that stuff, I still don't care for the game lol. I like to ocassionally watch it for "lols"

and like I said anything can be competitive. But where "spacing" and like a couple traits per dive kicker are the only tools, just isn't enough for me to take seriously.

I respect that, but I would say give it a shot when the final game comes out, maybe you'll enjoy your time with it.
