Did MK scare you when you were younger?

It didn't scare me, as I was 11- 12 when MK1 came out in the arcades. I do remember exactly what I felt when I saw the first fatality though....

I started playing when I was about 4 or 5 with the first mk for SNES!
The 3 things that I remember well (and probably scared me a bit) are the "DUDUDUN" before fatalities, Sub-Zero's spine rip and GORO

Oh yea. I can remember a few times where MKII was the reason I wasn't sleeping. Baraka just plain freaked me out, Shang Tsung's and his whole soul stealing thing, and the way he did it, and Mileena's fatality where she eat you and spit you out. Wow, thinking about it now, why the hell did I play it lol!

Haha, I completely forgot to mention MK2 Baraka earlier. Nosferatu is already creepy enough as he is, then Midway decides to attach fangs to it and keep the eyes "empty"? Both genius and terrifying if you ask me. Let's just say he's starred in many childhood nightmares of mine!

Glad to see I'm not the only one! lmao

lol not at all.

I think I was 9-10 years old when I played MK1. I loved it right away and thought it was a revolution in gaming lol.

I always liked horror movies growing up. When I was 6 years old I wanted a Chucky doll. Two years later I wanted to meet Freddy Krueger. :) I wasn't easily frightened. But I think Ghost Busters was the thing that made me love ghosts, undead and all that stuff.

When I was a kid I thought that Mortal Kombat was from the devil and that if I played it I'd become a bad person. Then I actually played it, and I loved it. So I guess that makes me a bad person? o.o

I don't actually remember if it scared me. But I was 4 when I first played an MK game cuz my dad had bought MK1, I know by the time I started playing MKII and MK3, I was perfectly ok with the game. The only thing that kinda gave me chills was the music.
I do know however that my little sister of 3 years (I know, huge age gap) was terrified when I did the Stage Fatality on my cousin while we were playing on Hell in MK9.

Not really, i was not scared of MK at all, and I was 8 years old when i played for the first time. But you know what game I WAS actually afraid of? Contra 3 on the SNES, not only it frighten me then, as of this day still many of the bosses and stages are disgusting to me, like that corpse turtle of the first level, or any part of the final level.

MKII was THE game. It wasn't anything specific either, just the overall atmosphere, sound, and presentation of the game. I remember walking into the arcade at the mall and the MKII cab was surrounded by very good players and the volume was full blast. And for seeing it the first time, my jaw hit the floor. The screams, the sounds, the MUSIC. It warped my fragile little mind... for the better. ;-) To me, NO other MK has EVER captured that vibe. Which is why MKII is the absolute best in the series imo.

the only thing that scared me was when the guy randomly appeared on the screen and went HUPTEEEEEEE!!! LOL i'm weird like that it still does freak me out in MK 9 it didn't scare me but it was one of those games you should never let parents see, the second parents come near the room quickly cover the screen because all my friends parents were like oh you are so not playing that and turn it off cause it's too "violent", my parents never care but their parents are like such...who are you to turn off my console woman...it used to really aggrovate me.

I too was that age when MK1 came out, so yeah, no fear here.

You must be the only human on earth that still doesn't know he's saying "TOASTY"

I was about 9 or 10 when MK came out in 92 and it was a bit of a shok at first. I remember I was at a local burger king of all places and ther was a guy that was playing and he asked me to take over for him, so he could leave. I was pretty fermiliar with street fighter, but I had never seen MK before or knew anything about it. Can't say I was scared, but I couldn't get those images of blood splattering everywhere out of my head for weeks. Haha!

Motaro was the scariest thing I ever saw in a video game, next to the Redeads from Zelda. The stop motion made him look so creepy, and that evil screech he makes. Scariest mk boss ever, and it sucks they left him out of the new one. Also the Pit, with the dude's head on the spike. Holy shit that scarred me for life.

MK Trilogy was the first mortal kombat game I played, and Trilogy is the darkest and scariest out of all the mk games. Everything looks shaded darker, and the music is slowed down, plus they crammed all the other scary stuff from previous games such as Baraka, Living forest, and so on.

I started playing MK at the time MK1 was fresh in the arcades. I was 10 then.
It never scared me. I'll never forget being at the pizza place nearby after a little league win. Watching this guy uppercut someone into the pit. That's when my MK interest and fan began. I spent many quarters at that arcade playing MK. Many MKs later still enjoying the series.

I started playing MK when i was 6 months old, Scary ?
Nah, Nothing compared to be stuck inside a dark cave for 9 months :reddy:
