Curious to know, who else wants to see Rain as a playable fighter?

I have always found the Edenians to be the "elves" of the MK universe. Long lifespans, having a natural affinity for martial prowess and magic, known for their beauty... And I freaking love elves! XD
So naturally I love Edenians as well.

Random, but would Mileena count as being edenian? Valid points can be made on both sides.
 
I would like to see him playable. You fought him twice in the story. And he is obviously going to play a bigger part in the next game.

Though artificially created, she is still of Edenian blood, that of Kitana's. However, I would classify her as an Outworlder, just like I would with Ermac, even if the souls he's created from are those of Edenian warriors.
 
Yeah the fact he is in story mode with his own moveset means he will surely be available at some point or it was a waste of dev time.
 
Rain is great but I'd like to see some other characters get a chance, especially as I think we're getting probably 2-3 more max. (Fujin and Li Mei is my bet, though I'd love to get Sareena.)

Nah, that's where you getting it all wrong, he doesn't have to wear a tuxedo, there's no need for him to look like that joke concept, he could be just some badass beast/monster, a humanoid horse creature, just like Reptile, D'Vorah and Kintaro are humanoid animals (reptile, wasp, tiger respectively, also Repile is half fish on his upcoming horror costume).

No tuxedo, an armor or nor clothes at all, I don't know, but the possibilities are endless.

You're gonna be like my new favourite person here haha! I'd love to see all three of them back. I definitely think Sareena needs to finally have her moment. Li Mei had a completely new design, it would be great to see her included. She was always one of my favs on the PS2 games
 
Ill say it again, I dont think Kitana, Kung Lao & Liu Kang should have been PLAYABLE in the game. With that said, If Rain was had a spot i would have been perfectly fine with that

Yeah they put so much effort into redesigning Li Mei, plus I find it hard to believe they hired Tara Strong *just* to voice Ferra of all people.

Sareena's model was less polished, like Frost's, but it's wishful thinking on my part. I'd like to see her playable on console finally.

Wow. Someone who's on the same page as me. Seriously, all the post-MK3 characters who made an appearance in the story should've been on the roster before some zombies whom don't even appear as their canon selves on the select screen. Honestly, if you have to make up an alternate fate for your character, maybe that says something. Let them go.


I'd take Fujin, Li Mei, Frost, or Sareena over having Zombie-Kang, Zombie-Lao, Zombie-Kitana, and 3 members of the same household.

I get this POV, but I also don't think Story Mode is ever going to dictate the roster per se. Casuals don't care about story mode.

Depends on your variety of casual, haha. People who are just generally into video games, perhaps, yeah. But fighting game casuals who want to just pick their fave and get online and don't care about the lore are just as likely to not give a shit.

I didn't consider that there were casuals like that. I guess they would be casuals for not caring about the intricates of Mortal Kombat and just wants to play their one favourite character.

Yeah, exactly. People who don't care about the series beyond 'Kitana is my girl' or 'Kung Lao, that's my guy'. These are pretty hugely popular characters. When they were excluded from MK4 and other 3D titles people were super pissed.

One of the reasons I bought me a Dreamcast: Mortal Kombat Gold, starring Kitana and Mileena. :P
Though I found faves in MK4, such as Tanya and Reiko. ^^
