i read some casual fans calling her the new "female scorpion" smh.

I certainly hope most won't think that. Tanya and Scorpion have not much similarities design wise besides the color schemes :/

I cringe every time someone says this. I REALLY don't want this to be a thing, because it would confirm Tanya to be an "MK ninja" palette-swap, and to me that would be a disappointment. I've said it before, but I want the former palette-swaps to go as far away from that concept as possible, not turn existing characters into some. XD

In MK4, Tanya was originally supposed to be Kitana.
I agree with you, though, and I also don't want more palette-swap costumes in MKX.

That's not your choice. Tanya was clearly designed after the Jade/Mileena/Kitana. She has always been and will always be the yellow female ninja regardless if she is actually a ninja or no. Face it and embrace it.
