All things Tanya! - Official Diskussion Thread

Yeah, it's a huge promo opportunity. Hopefully it goes well and she becomes a mainstay like Kenshi. Worst case, Skarlet syndrome. (But she has more of a storyline than Skarlet, so I'm not too too worried there.)

Highly Doubt she'll be as bad as Skarlet.
MKX Sales are phenomenally high, might even pass MK9 in just a few weeks into june, especially the DLC sales. This games DLC will definitely surpass MK9's by a long shot, and MKX is giving characters WAY more promo than MK9 characters ever got.
Not to mention she's already known among many casuals. She's also considered a Klassic character as well.

Poor Skarlet. Actually, I would say anybody who knows Tanya is not a casual. True casuals only know Scorpion, Sub Zero, and -- in this iteration -- Jason, or maybe not even that... they simple play as the most muscle-bound, brutish looking character.

Another thing for Tanya that we Tanya stans can get a rise out of;
This is the first game Tanya will have Brutalities.

When I say the word casuals, I mainly mean the people who some have MKD and MK3 or so but not exactly are huge fans and would know people like Liu kang and Kung Lao, but also would know the side people like Tanya and Frost.
There are the annoying casuals are just the ones who know and play as strictly Scorpion and Sub-Zero, and the guest character(s). Which piss me off. But hey, their money goes towards future DLC and games so I'm not too mad.

I used to not really care for Tanya but now I really like her story. I don't know if I'll like to play as her cause I never like playing as female characters in fighting games, but I'll try her out.

I'm in the same boat as Rolling_Toaster, I never play as Females for Gameplay purposes. The only Female character I really play as in fighting games is Hitomi from Dead or Alive.

I'm also someone who usually doesn't play female characters in MK games.
Actually, to word it better, I'm usually someone who doesn't main female characters in MK games, because their playstyle never appealed to me, but I'll be giving D'Vorah and Jacqui a shot some time this week and I'll try out Tanya for shits and giggles because I have the Kombat Pack.
I'm looking to a NEW MKX character as my 2nd main, and Kotal Kahn is more of a zoning and slower character than I care for.
The top 4 new characters that I'm interested in trying out are Takeda, D'Vorah, Jacqui and Ferra / Torr.

I meant more of a powerhouse character and not a quick character.
Don't get me wrong, his saw blade is also very good for 50/50 mix ups that also lead to a good 30 percent if guessed wrong.
His biggest disadvantage is when someone continues to jab in between your block string pressure.
Kotal is slow and his moves seem to have no type of armor or priority.
Just set up the shoulder and make good reads.

Anyways, this thread was about Tanya, not Kotal.

Meanwhile I only main female characters, so it's always a relief to have more to choose from! Cassie and Jacqui are really great additions this go-round, they're both so fun to play.

I've heard good things about Jacqui, despite haterz hating on her Full Auto variation, but she and D'Vorah are my next to try.
Tanya could be decent too, but I didn't see anything amazing in her non-variation / universal version in Story Mode that wowed me.
Let's see what changes between that and when her full DLC version is released.

Story Mode Tanya only has two special moves and a bunch of normals borrowed from Kitana and Sonya. I'm sure the DLC version will be completely different, though I imagine a similar playstyle -- fast, kick-y rushdown character.

Jacqui is my favorite newbie for sure, gameplaywise. She's super fast and her combos are really fun. Full Auto is definitely the variation to pick, haters be damned.

I love D'Vorah too but she's very tricky to get the hang of. Unusual moves. I've been practicing with her more lately and I can tell if I get it she'll be great, but getting it is hard.

Well I'd certainly hope not, since her moveset was literally borrowed from Sonya and Kitana + 2 random special moves, lol.

Same, honestly. I always just like the gameplay feel better and attach more to the females stories more than I would the males. I have a whole TRMK topic about it so I won't elaborate here.

Fair point.
Her basic move-set felt like Baraka, Sindel and Rain, to me.
Let's see how she is when she comes as DLC.

This will be the first time anyone got a feel on a 2D Plane Tanya. We'll all be surprised, I'm sure. I can't wait to see how it is.
I have a good feeling that she'll change a bunch of minds about her :)
If they don't have Kobu Jitsu as one of her variations, I'm suing.

Jacqui is probably my go to female in this game. Powerful and decent speed.
