But we do know that the character in Story Mode is Tanya, no matter which model is used to represent her. We also know that the model we've seen in-game is temporary and there will be an updated model coming out as DLC. What we don't know is whether or not the model seen in Story Mode will be replaced with the updated one. Either way, it doesn't change that it is indeed Tanya, both the old model and new model.

The costume is the same, but colours changed and the face and hair as well:
Because they updated the model since, which is apparent in the picture I just posted above. And NRS have several times before said the models weren't finished, both in the KombatKast stream and in tweets, as posted earlier in this thread.
If that's not proof enough, wait until she is released and the game patched.

If the old model was going to be used, it's not Tanya. The new model being used is Tanya.

It's not Tanya, if it was Nrs would not change it. A placeholder model is just there untill the canon model is done.

A canon model is when the model is 100% done, not a placeholder model that is being worked on.
