A proposal, if there has't already been one O.o

Right I have this idea which is used already in alot of different games.
The idea I have is MK mentoring. It could be done through TRMK quite easily.
Players would be able to post their needs, for example, an Ermac mentor. Then another person, a more experienced player, could offer to mentor them.

The two could exchange PSN names, XBlive accounts, etc. They would be able to learn more about the game and perhaps we can remove some of those online spammers.
If this has been asked before, please delete this thread ^^ Ive searched for a few things similar to this with no avail :P
it may be difficult to start up but I reckon we could produce some nice skilled players through mentoring if people are willing to participate :P

Thoughts?

This already happens here, just not quite so formally.

If you need help with a character, just head to that character's thread and get some tips. You can talk to everyone and discuss your strategy so you can see what you're doing wrong and get tips to fix it. The threads really helped me out, everyone who made them put a lot of effort into them.

This, however gives what a character thread does not. This gives the 99% possibility that if a mentor and mentee is matched, they will be mentoring, rather than text based stuff, it's pretty much textbook vs. experience.
I'm up to be a mentor or whatever, but other than that, this seems promising if there are enough people to ACTUALLY commit and stuff.

I think that would be the greatest problem with this, is the actual commitment :)
You all seem like a nice bunch of people though :D So it could work, and yeah I agree with the first poster, the character threads work very well. But actually having someone be there and make you a better player can always compliment the reading, right? :D

Great mentor suggestions:

Asodimazze- Super kind and nice guy and will be glad to help you.
He really knows Johnny Cage and Ermac.

Fox17- Just shut up and listen to him and he can really help you
He is good with Smoke, Sub-Zero, and probably Rain.

WARNING: Do not argue with Fox17 and do not call Rain or Sub-Zero stupid or gay

You disagree that he knows Johnny Cage?? What is Asod not allowed too?? haha

Sadly spamming is just part of the game, dude. Just go online and play. Not much to it. Don't be scared to fight anyone, just fight and learn as you go. Character threads are the best way to learn combos and strats but it comes down to putting everything together and react to what you're dealt with.

I'm good with Kang so if you need some tips, let me know dude!

I disagree with you kid.

DCP and Mike Riazy are the best JC on this forum.

I didn't say Asodimazze has the best Cage. I'm recommending him because to me he is the nicest person on this forum and a great friend. He always gives out tips and helps anyone and loves to do it....kid ;)

Hehe, the mentor suggestion isn't only for me ;) The reason I suggested this is so maybe pro players could have something to do, and feel better for helping someone. Mentor's could help loads with someones confidence, etc. :D

I'm not a good teacher, lol. I have no patience. Plus I hate teaching people who won't listen. Which is 95% of this forum.

I think i'm good with words and teachings... I'm just a little horrid with online execution.

I have playing Rushdown ermac lately LOL. his up close game is "alright" It aint no johnny cage or Sonya. But he's got some nice up close gimmicks. Where I tried to Zone a kitana... I lost a round.. Then I just rushed her down and nearly flawless victory her twice >.>. F4, U4, 3,1,2 are your pressure friends.

Not entirely sure if I have time to "mentor" 1 person. Mainly because I want to reach Pro status, and I need to teach myself MORE. I know alot... Ijust need MORE. I should also stop playing online so my execution isn't always confused. Considering I JUST found some really good offline players. I might just stop online altogether. Expect to see me fighting Top MK players soon as I will be driving to tournaments/flying.

I feel like I can help ALOT more if I just get my own experiences increased, then post about them.

But if someone who feels they are lacking knowledge with Jade/Ermac/Kung Lao/Skarlet/Noob Saibot I think I can show you some things...

If you're REALLY lacking knowledge I can do alright with Scropion/Subzero I accidently learned these guys a little bit by being forced to play against them, and their strings/combos are so easy to do. anytime I fight a scorp or sub thats good I can easily mimmick them.

I'm surprised that you suggested Fox for Smoke, haha in addition to running the Smoke thread I get an average 10 hatemails a day because of my Smoke.

Jokes aside, if anyone needs any sort of mentoring for Smoke and Mileena (but Smoke especially), it would be my pleasure. I've been playing Smoke since Day 1 and would love to spread the knowledge.

We play online alot don't we? Or am I thinking of someone else.

On a side note. I think the mentoring thing will only be really useful if people use headsets.

My skype information is on these forums if anyone wants to talk person to person about MK gameplay mechanics.
