- Takeda.
Mourning the loss of his beloved Jacqui who died shortly after the events of MKX due to internal bleeding, Takeda has left the Special Forces and returned to the Shirai Ryu to find focus and seek guidance.
Reading through this thread, I realize I never actually sat down and wrote what I would like for MK11.
So here goes!
1) Roster.
I am not going to post the entire roster exactly as how I want it. Instead I will just mention characters I would like to be put into the roster. Whatever other character makes it onto the roster, I will leave up to NRS to decide. I put the characters I'd like to see in MK11 in the spoiler tag below.
Spoiler:- Jade.
Maybe brought back to life by the mystery lady (explaining her absence in MKX), and trying to find a way to bring Kitana and the other revenants back to life. Could possibly try to seek out the aid of the Edenian Resistance.
- Tanya.
Leading the Edenian Resistance alongside Rain, but is losing the fight against Kotal Kahn after the death of Mileena. Maybe aiding Jade in getting the revenants back, but with her own agenda - to also bring Mileena back to life!
- Rain.
Leading the Edenian Resistance alongside Tanya, but because they are losing, he has agreed to aid Jade bringing back the revenants as that would be the only way to kick Kotal off the throne... so he can take it for himself.
- Reiko.
Having died a cruel death after being used by Havik to call forth the Blood God, Reiko has tried to survive in the Netherrealm. Still feeling the touch of the Blood God's power, he has made a deal with Liu Kang and Kitana, acting as their leading general... for now.
- Mileena.
After her death, Mileena's soul became resurrected in the Netherrealm. With Kitana now on the throne, she reunited with her "sister" and forced information out of her through threats of eternal torture - information about Outworld. Enslaved, Mileena now serves her new queen sister.
- Sareena.
After Liu Kang and Kitana has claimed the throne of the Netherrealm, Sareena has been hunted by the Revenants, forcing her to seek safety in Earthrealm with Fujin's aid. However, because of how Raiden has acted lately, Sareena stays hidden with the Lin Kuei, under Kuai Liang's protection.
- Skarlet.
Having survived the event on Shang Tsung's island, Skarlet needed time to recover and has been in hiding since then. However, having sensed Reiko through the blood bond they shared from the Blood Code, she is now searching for a way to revive him.
- Fujin.
After the events of MKX, Raiden has taken a darker turn, possibly due to the corrupted Jinsei energy that he absorbed. This has Fujin worried for his former friend, but seems too distracted with aiding the Special Forces manage the many Outworld refugees.
- Takeda.
Mourning the loss of his beloved Jacqui who died shortly after the events of MKX due to internal bleeding, Takeda has left the Special Forces and returned to the Shirai Ryu to find focus and seek guidance.
- Cassie.
Also mourning the loss of her best friend, Cassie tried to get over it by burying herself in work. She's been tasked with managing the Outworld refugees for now, but she most of all wish to travel back to Outworld and avenge her friend. Johnny Cage has also been training with her to focus on channeling their warrior powers.
- Kung Jin.
Alongside Fujin, Cassie and Kenshi, he too is trying to manage the Outworld refugees. He and Fujin have made a mentor/student relationship, much like Raiden and Liu Kang before them, but he's kept his spying eye on Raiden to find out what is up with him.
- Kenshi.
Split between his duty with aiding Special Forces and being a father to Takeda, helping him getting over his loss, Kenshi is trying to keep things together after the events of MKX. But he also has unfinished business with the Red Dragon who are still luring somewhere.
- Nitara.
Working as a spy for Kotal amongst the Outworld refugees, she has taken on a human visage and carries with her a crystal that allows her to travel between the realms. She has her own agenda and reasons for doing so though.
- Kotal.
Having survived the Lin Kuei ambush in Earthrealm, he alongside D'vorah and Ermac were able to retreat back to Outworld and regain strength. With Mileena out of the way and only a few remaining amongst the Edenian Resistance, Kotal is plotting a way to regain his honour by destroying Earthrealm once and for all.
- D'Vorah.
Kotal not knowing of D'vorah's true nature as a follower of Shinnok, she quickly escaped shortly after Shinnok's defeat and saved Kotal from the Lin Kuei. Having proven herself as a "loyal" servant to Kotal, he promoted her to being his main bodyguard and leading general.
- Ermac.
Having sensed something off with both Kotal and D'vorah after their escape back to Outworld, he looked into it and started sensing a sort of corruption reaching them. Though still loyal to his emperor, he questions Kotal's vengeful plans and wonder if he will go down the same route as Shao Kahn did before him.
- The Revenants.
After Shinnok's defeat and the death of Quan Chi, the Revenants are no longer under their control, but the corruption remains within them. Not feeling the need to shake the corruption off, Liu Kang and Kitana have taken the throne of the Netherrealm and are crafting a legion of demons to serve under them. They are taking Raiden's warning seriously, though are still planning an invasion... of Outworld. Because with Outworld's many warriors serving them, they will be strong enough to take on Earthrealm.
Would like to at least see Kitana and Enenra (which would be Smoke) as playable characters.
- Dark Raiden.
After having absorbed all the corruption from the Jinsei, Raiden's very soul has become darkened. Instead of being the protector of Earthrealm, he seeks to rule it with an iron fist, as he sees that is the only way to "save" mankind from otherworldly invaders... and themselves.
(Note: Dark Raiden would be the main boss in MK11, but like Shinnok and his final "Corrupted" version, you can unlock a "normal" version of Raiden to become playable, but the final version "Dark Raiden" won't become playable)
Like I said, these are just the ones I wanna see in MK11. Other characters, such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Johnny etc., could still be on the roster (which they most likely will), but I don't care much for them hence why I didn't mention them. However, other characters that would be neat to see in MK11 would be Taven, Hotaru, Ashrah, Havik (if he somehow returned), Sektor, Cyrax (no Triborg bullcrap) and Bo'Rai Cho (but first gonna see how he is in MKX).
And of course, NO GUEST CHARACTERS! Or rather, at least put lacking and requested MK characters in first before adding a whole bunch of unnecessary guest characters. Yes, they might bring in the money from the casuals who wants them, but they also leave tons of upset and disappointed fans.
2) Variation system.
I wouldn't mind keeping this system, however, instead of 3 Variations, I would rather each character just had 2. I find that stretching a characters' abilities over 3 Variations in MKX has lead to some rather unfortunate decisions, such as giving Kitana a Variation with Jade's moves, and giving Scorpion a Variation where he summons demonic minions which was never part of his ability set before and seems more like something Noob could do with his shadows.
(Note: Speaking of, I think Scorpion's Inferno Variation and Quan Chi's Warlock Variation could both easily be given Noob instead)
So yeah, I would keep it at 2 Variations per character instead, making them a bit more focused this time.
3) Running and Dashing.
I'm no pro-gamer, but I've noticed many being unhappy with the way Running and Dashing works in MKX. I liked how you could dash-cancel into a move in MK9, so I would prefer it being like that in MK11 as well, and then have Running be a seperate function. Perhaps instead of having the "Turn Stance" button (which is completely useless and irrelevant other than in one of Johnny's Brutalities) could become a Run button instead and then function like in UMK3 where you could only do certain more powerful combos when running towards the opponent.
4) X-Ray Moves.
I enjoy the X-Ray Moves and would like for it to return to MK11. I don't feel the need to change the execution of it or anything.
5) Finishers.
- Fatalities.
Of course Fatalities will be in MK11. They are a stable to the series and I wouldn't want it any other way.
- Brutalities.
I would prefer having the UMK3 sort of Brutality back, where you start a running combo and then activates the Brutality - much like how an Ultra Combo is in Killer Instinct, ending the battle with a flashy combo which of course has a fatal end. It would be awesome if it was kinda like Liu Kang's MKX X-Ray Move, where there will be shown x-ray bone cracking and such during the flashy combo.
- MKX Brutalities.
However... I DO like the Brutalities in MKX! I just did not want them to be called Brutalities, because I want a Brutality to be as stated above. That said, I do want the MKX Brutalities to return in MKX, but under another name!
- Friendship.
MKX was all serious business... maybe a bit too serious, imo. I loved the Friendship finishers in MK2 and UMK3 and would like to see it return. MK9's Babalities were kind of a mix of the old-school Babality and Friendship, but I utterly hated those. No Babalities! Just Friendship. ^^
6) Modes.
- Story Mode.
Story Mode is a must, imo! The stories in MK9 and MKX may not be the best and there are indeed some flaws and plotholes here and there, but I would not want NRS to stop making Story Mode for future MK games. However, instead of being chapter-based, I would rather have it character-based. Maybe have a handful of characters to pick from who are considered "main characters" and then follow the story from their point of view, from start to finish! And there would be characters from all sides available. For example, Cassie could be available and show the Special Force's point of view, Sub-Zero would tell the one from Lin Kuei's, Kotal from the Outworld struggle's POV, Jade from the Edenian Resistance's POV, Liu Kang from the Netherrealm force's, etc...
And then after having completed each of the characters' stories, you unlock a "Final Chapter" where you go through the final battles and then confront Dark Raiden which then wraps up the story.
The optimal would be for every character to have their own story told, to have their own "chapters", but I doubt that will ever happen.
- Challenge Tower.
The towers in MKX felt rather lacking. They were basically just normal modes you see in other fighting games. And then the Living Towers which are just themed with something, but otherwise the same thing. However, the Challenge Tower in MK9 had alot of different kinds of mission that weren't just "defeat this opponent" kind of deal. I would like to see that return in MK11!
- Test Your Might/Luck/etc.
I liked these small challenges, especially Test your Luck which could turn absolutely crazy when throwing in a whole bunch of status effects! I'd like those to return to MK11 as well.
- Practise Mode.
The Practise mode in MKX was pretty cool and I'd like to see that return to MK11 too.
- Dojo Mode.
Killer Instinct Gold introduced a mode called "Dojo Mode". It was basically a mode that helped you through a sort of tutorial on what tools your character has - how to do combos, special moves, etc. I would like to have that in MK11 as well, where you pick a character, and then go through maybe 1-10 steps which shows you the aspects of how to play the chosen character. MK9 and MKX kinda had that too, but it was more general, where I would rather want it to be more character-specific.
7) The Krypt.
I don't mind the Krypt, I think it's a neat way to unlock things and MKX did it pretty well. Perhaps as you explore more of the many areas, you get to fast-travel between them so you don't have to start all the way back at the main gate and then walk all the way to the other end every time though. AND NO JUMP SCARES!
Last, but not least, I would of course want better netcode so playing online feels smooth.
... I think that's it.
I think 2 variations that can be switched during a match will be awesome!
