Am I the only one who doesn't like any of the new characters??

Takeda is that sweet mixture of Metal Gear Solid and Mortal Kombat that I never knew I wanted. His whip attacks also remind me of Kratos' blades of chaos attacks from the God of War games. And let's not forget that he uses mini-lightsabers. He is an amalgamation of all things badass in video games. He's definitely gonna be this game's break out character in terms of online usage, like Smoke in MK9.

Totally agreed. :P
If only Kratos used his weapons like this in MK9, then he might not have sucked so bad.

I've been in this debate before, and I think Sub Zero specifically meant he was above other ninja clans.

more of "We are no mere Ninja Clan, we are Lin Kuei!" rather than "Lin Kuei aren't ninjas".

Looking through character bios, Scorpion has been referred to explicitly as a ninja in every single game except Deception, which has first person narration. The last time Kuai Liang's bios refer to any non-Scorpion as a ninja is Deadly Alliance (Frost), and the last time Bi-Han's do is Deception (Smoke). Sub-Zero was not called a ninja in MKvsDCU, Armageddon, or MK9, while Scorpion was called a ninja in all three.

Sorry, dude, but you've got the wrong of this one.

Ah, well, there you go. ^^

Well, Mortal Kombat is a superhero comic universe. Sub-Zero, Smoke, Scorpion etc... they're like superhero/villain names. And they occasionally wear bright coloured tight spandex.

I'm not wrong, your wrong!

:vroam:

Maybe it's just me, but I think Sub-Zero is the coolest name ever. Always stood out to me as a clever name for an ice character. A lame name would be *cough* Frost or *cough* Iceman.

I've grown to love kuai liang's original code name before Sub Zero, Tundra.

O

So you're saying they are not ninjas, they just play dress up? If it walks like a duck....you know the rest.

Exactly.

Like Reptile, Baraka is essentially just a lackey. Rain is a demi-god with links to other characters (depending, I suppose, on whether you consider any of that stuff canon) and is featured in the MKX comics. If NRS wanted to expand his story arc and make him playable then they could do so quite easily, and I would imagine very successfully (from the point of view of people like us).

Baraka may be considered 'cool' to some (I am indifferent, personally) but he doesn't really have the potential that Rain does in terms of power and influence within the story.

Thing is, all of this is fiction. So at any point, ANY of these characters can become relevant. NRS can make it so that Baraka is the One Being's bigger brother if they wanted to.
