Wow. I'm not sure how I feel about this alternate...
They had such gorgeous concepts. Why did they pick this one? The Dark Queen concept was my favorite and it fits with Kitana's story. Her best friend is dead, her love interest is dead, her mother is dead, Edenia is gone: she needs to mourn all her losses.
WHY NOT THAT ONE NRS??? :sad:
Remember that she will be a revenant. This "dark" themed can easily be used as her revenant appearance. They just wouldn't tell us!
So about this... He looks slightly less reptillian than usual. They did say something about his alt having something to do with the story. Do ya'll think he meets a surviving member of his race? Or finds his homeland again?

My thoughts:
I love Kitana's variations. They each feel different, while remaining true to the character. Her X-ray is nice. I'm exciting to try her out. I am NOT a fan of her alternate, though - especially the loincloth over the ass.
Reptile was disappointing. Not because of the way he looks or plays, but because his variations feel very cut-and-dry. They're all basically the same with 1 added move a piece. I would have liked more change between his variations. I am NOT excited to try him out because he is basically MK9 Reptile with two or three new tricks.
The invisibility variation seems useless because his invisibility has always been useless. I would think focusing a variation on that move would make it versatile and effective, but no; that variation is essentially MK9 Reptile. The Noxious variation is basically an MK9 Reptile that constantly chips you; it's the variation I'd use if I were playing as Reptile, because it can do beefy combos. But it's still, again, essentially MK9 Reptile. I won't even get into Nimble because they didn't show any of its potential, but it's the most interesting for sure.
All that said, I think Reptile's alternate looks fantastic in action and I think the primary didn't look bad (was that human skin?). I like the maskless look best; he's got a cool face this time around.
But, still, I'm glad Team Reptile won. TEAM REPTILE!
The new Netherealm stage looks fantastic. Obviously where you're gonna be fighting Shinnok's minions during the story mode.
Goro was added to the select screen, which makes me think we're getting him in the next stream in addition to a character they'll reveal in the coming days. Looks like we're finally seeing some Goro gameplay in a few weeks.
And looks like I was right about the variation changes in costumes limiting what they can do with alternates. That is heavily disappointing and looks a bad outlook where creativity is concerned.

I'm sure they will. But I don't know if that's a nerf that they'll get. I mean, it's the whole point of that variation.

Kitana vs Ermac, she calls him a construct.
Kitana vs Scorpion, I think he says "??? no longer powers me." ie hatred/vengeance.

If nothing else, it'll probably be banned from tournaments, because I see far too much potential for abuse with that variation.

Seems to be the same costume from the comics, which is what I'm guessing that he meant by "something to do with the story."
Maybe that's the costume that he uses in the comics and in the game's story mode, the same way that Bi-Han was the alt for Sub-Zero in MK9, but it was the costume used for him in the MK1 part of the MK9 story.

I could see it getting tournament banned. I'm just hoping there's an effective way to counter it .
Also forgot to mention, I'm not sure how I feel about the fan sharpening in the Assassin variation. I typically don't like using characters that have powerups, but Kitana has always been one of my mains. I'll get used to it I guess.

Or.... The outfit we're seeing on him is the one from the beginning of the timeline, and the alt is from later in it (15 year point in comic).. Man. I'm curious about all this.

Well, the obvious disadvantage is that you're wide open for an attack during that move, so use it after a knockdown situation.

It would work on Mileena too, but they would need to get rid of the sing shoulder cover. Wouldn't look right on her in my opinion.

I hope so. If he's 'working together' with Kotal then there may be a chance.
