Reptile revealed!

To be fair, I did say that MKX Reptile looked awesome, but I'm just disappointed that another reveal was wasted on an MK9 character.
I just want 1 or 2 post-MK3 (*cough*Fujin*cough*) and the rest to be NEW MKX characters.
I don't mind if all of the DLC are MK9 returns, as long as a good 50% the characters on the main roster are new and get their time to shine too.
 
My two biggest hopes right now are:

A.) The roster is bigger than expected.
B.) The Majority of the new characters will be revealed throughout story mode.
 
pff so many butthurt non mk fans in this thread, his intro was funny as hell with Kung, also he looks awesome!
Can't wait to play as Reptile and the people complaining about his fatality CMON seriously hes using his abilities to finish someone off, what are you expecting? Its like hoping for Kitana to pull out a gun and shoot the guys brains out, its not going to happen.
But your tears bring me joy so please keep the flow going.

Same here.
I'm hoping that they were able to squeeze 30 characters onto the main roster (given Ed Boon's "30-something characters" comment), with the other 18 being new and post-MK3 (MK4 thru MK:D) characters.
 
I think my biggest thing with all the returning characters is that I have played all of them already.

To NRS credit, they are doing a hell of a job trying to keep them fresh. I never thought I'd see the day when Kano looked good enough to give a solid shot. But I was just playing MK9 a bit the other day, and I had a hard time picking a character because I was just saying to myself...."Im tired of playing as these characters"

And before someone chimes in with the Street Fighter uses the same characters comments, I dont play Street Fighter or any other fighting games. But I have been playing MK since the original Arcade release and have followed it ever since. My hopes were just really high when the talked about all the new blood because of how great NRS did with the last game. And I guess my hopes are still high. But having been through the bad Midway times I really just want them to take the series to the heights it deserves. Because seriously, street fighter.

You're one of the few people I've seen on here and Test Your Might that are disappointed with the look, ignoring the fools who want him to be human. Most people on TYM are just not hyped about the trailer and an in-depth variation glance would have changed that, I'm sure. I haven't visited MKO yet, and they've got the biggest concentration of Reptile fans, so that'll be interesting.

Edit: MKO loves it. I'm surprised, because MKO usually sucks.

Agreed with your 2nd paragraph.
The klassics are fine, but I want some new characters to play as.
New characters that I've never used before.
This is the very reason that I'm more exited for characters like Ferra / Torr, Kotal Kahn and D'Vorah than I am for Sub-Zero, because these are characters that I've never played as before.
They're uncharted territory and bring that same sense of newness and excitement to MK (for me) that characters like Quan Chi, Fujin, Reiko, Tanya, Havik and Kenshi did, in their respective debuts.
 
I really hope he's pulling it apart. I wanted them to be done with the exploding head thing.
Heads don't explode into nothing like that.
 
Reptile is actually one of my faves from previous games. However, I want to see new characters (or revamped post MK3 characters) so badly that this actually disappointed me, hah. Go figure.

Anyway, for the video itself, I agree with others that a variation video, in the same vein as the Kano trailer, would have left a much better impression. The slick intro with Reptile in bold letters, combined with the music and Boon's narration, would have felt like a more proper reveal. Oh well, not the end of the world.

The opening dialogue, while kind of amusing, kind of gives me the feeling that Reptile is going to be a mindless fool again, lol. I am really hoping that isn't the case. I would rather him be more of a skilled assassin rather than a worthless scrub who gets his shit pushed in by everyone he goes against. I mean, if this is the last hope of the Raptor race...they are screwed.

He seems to be following Kotal Kahn in this game, at least according to the comic. Kotal seems like he respects his allies, so I am hoping that he doesn't just treat Reptile like a pathetic lackey. Maybe he actually cares enough to actually help Reptile achieve his goals.

I hope for these things, but I am assuming he is going to be a punching bag again. Lines like, "I WILL TEAR YOUR FLESH!!!!!" don't inspire confidence. Hoping he has some more interesting stuff to say to other characters.

Anyway, this post is sounding like a huge rant, lol. Happy to see Reptile's inclusion, but just hoping for a more respectable showing. And REALLY hoping for some new characters or revamped post MK3 characters soon.

PS: Regarding the fatality you guys are discussing. It looks like he is pulling it apart, but I am thinking he might so something afterwards. Either eat part of the guys head or something, lol. Who knows, but we will probably see it during the stream.
 
Well it was a video reveal on IGN, I doubt we would have gotten a returning character regardless of if we wanted it or not.
The stream I'm very sure is where we'll see our first Newbie since the original reveal.
